I worked for Kumon of Decatur last year. The owner, Crystal, is a wonderful person. She is so sweet, hardworking and passionate about teaching students and helping them succeed. She was a supportive boss and a very kind soul.

My two daughters (age 8 and age 4) have been attending virtual Kumon services since last May. We have been blown away by the kids progress.The Kumon system is basically old school math, like the way I learned when I was a kid, with a lot of repetition and math drills. The goal is to instill math facts into their head so that basic math is automatic. City Schools of Decatur (and Common Core, in general) focuses more on math sense than math drills in early elementary.My 8-year-old was struggling in math after 1 1/2 years of virtual school and her end-of-year MAP scores in 2nd grade were in the 43rd percentile. We noticed that she simply could not add single digit numbers quickly and accurately because virtual school had completely eliminated math drills. In the last 4 months, she has gained so much confidence in math because of Kumon. We just got her beginning-of-year test scores for 3rd grade and now she is at the 85th percentile! She loves it, too, because she sees how much rapid progress she has made.When my 4-year-old started, she could only identify and write numbers up to 10. Now, she can identify and write all the way up to 100 which is an end-of-the-year kindergarten skill and she is just starting pre-K. In other words, she has basically learned 2 years worth of math work in just 4 months!Yes, its repetitive and it does take parental involvement to get your kids to do it. But, we have made it part of daily routine. One of the things Ive found that helps is that we track how much they are doing and when they both have done 5 days of Kumon WITHOUT complaining, they get to pick out a small toy from a treasure chest. (Dollar Store is awesome for that!) That small incentive has helped minimize whining and complaining.The owner Crystal is very kind and has jumped on calls with me twice to talk about the kids progress and to help us work together to make sure both kids are moving forward. Also, I would opt for virtual over in-person learning. Its such a short class that its super easy to log on to Zoom, do the work, and then log off, instead driving over there, getting out, etc. I dont feel like there is a significant benefit to going in person.All in all, highly recommend for kids who are struggling with math facts.

We have really enjoyed the program. Our Son has learned a lot! Kumon has truly had an impact on his knowledge and him. With this program, he has developed a sound educational foundation! I highly recommend Kumon Math and Reading Center of Decatur. It has made a huge difference for us!

OMG, Kumon Decatur is truly amazing and the owner has a heart for learning and children as a whole. My daughter started last year with challenges in both Math and Reading. She has completed done almost a 360 turn-around, to the point where I no learning have to hoover over her during virtual learning. This is an outstanding group. We placed our kids in some coursework so that the Covid summer had some activities. No, our kids arent freaks who love math so much we could convince them this was camp, but we wanted their minds to remain active and this fave some daily tasks and purpose. The staff here are phenomenal. The kids confidence grew and, although the work was challenging, they never once complained about their instruction. We intend to utilize Kumon again for any areas that cause them difficulty in the future with their studies and over summers. This is money well spent.

I started my son in Kumon in Decatur November 1, 2019, and I have seen a large improvement in his skills and so has his teacher already! He loves coming to class every Monday an Thursday, he enjoys the tutors and they are ALL very helpful to me as a parent with tips and help on homework. Kumon is work but the end results are amazing...you have to work the system do the homework, go to class and encourage your child and yourself sometimes BUT the rewards are priceless!! I would HIGHLY recommend Kumon in Decatur it to any parent. Take the steps it would be worth it.

Kumon Decatur has been a wonderful experience for my 5yr old daughter. She is a kindergartner and has Down Syndrome. We are so pleased that she is beginning to read. All of the staff at Kumon Decatur have been so great with her and we really appreciate it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

My grandson has been studying at the Kumon Center of Decatur for 2 years. When he first came here he was below grade level in Reading and math. Since hes been in the program hes been progressing and just loves the staff and Instructor. Its challenging to keep your student engaged in doing extra work for with Math and Reading, but if you both put in the extra work you will get results. Hes working on multiplication now and were so excited for him. All parents if they can need to start their kids in Kumon as early as possible, its definitely worth it. Especially when you have such a loving and passionate instructor!

Kumon has been an excellent experience for my elementary school daughter. Crystal Lewis (Franchise Owner) is heavily invested in the success of every student and it shows in the environment she’s created. The tutors are patient, while also maintaining a high standard for the students. My daughter has been attending for enrichment and it’s been more than a supplement, but a catalyst for her mathematics growth. I HIGHLY suggest Kumon of Decatur for any parent whose seeking math tutoring/enrichment.

We have been a part of the Kumon family for 2 years now. They have become an integral part of my child’s learning and development. It further created structure and discipline in his character. The staff is friendly, patient, and show great strength in positive encouragement.

Not really a fan of Kumon after having my child attend this center. The staff and location are great. However, my daughter appeared to be doing basic math, I mean adding and subtracting, i.e, 10-2 at 11 years old!! I feel as if I wasted my money as it is 175.00 per month, for her to only do basic math. But, check it our for yourself, I do see where it may be beneficial for younger children.

My daughter loves going to Kumon more then she likes going to school😂She says everyone at Kumon are very very nice and calm. As a mom, I am so greatfull that I found Kumon for my daughter she is excelling greatly!! Crystal Lewis, the instructor and owner at the Decatur location, is so hands on with her staff and students. If you didn’t know who she was you would think she was a tutor as well and not the owner😃. The tutors and/or instructors are excellent with keeping me informed on my daughters progress and are always eager to listen to any questions or concerns I may have and very proactive with all parents and students. They had an awards ceremony and all the students were acknowledged which I thought was so terrific. They are very organized, the facility is very neat and clean. As a parent I enjoy bringing my daughter to Kumon each week. Thank you so much to all the staff at Kumon Decatur for your consistency, dedication and hard work😃😃

Weve been enrolled in Kumon since pre-school and at the center of Decatur for the past year. Our family is so proud of our daughters accomplishments, shes 3 years above grade level in both Reading and Math. Theres no better investment in your children, than to prepare them to succeed in school and life! Especially this location has been instrumental and our daughter is so happy. They take the time to staff their teams with qualified assistants and are organized and prepared every time that we come here. Im surprised myself by how much shes learned!

Kumon is a professionally-run organization that we feel has helped our child tremendously. Our child struggled in math for so long and now she is much more confident and she can measure her own progress. It’s a program that works. It’s empowering for our daughter. We are only sorry we didn’t start sooner. We highly recommend Kumon in Decatur and all its teachers.

The Decatur location of Kumon is absolutely phenomenal. My children were not at grade-level when they entered the 2nd grade in school. I enrolled them in Kumon at the beginning of the school year and by the end of the school year, they were at grade-level. Prior to Kumon, one of my sons told me “Mom, I am not good at school”. Last week, he came home excited and said “Mom, I got 100% on all of my work this week”. Watching my children’s self-esteem soar from their experience at Kumon has been remarkably rewarding.We even continued Kumon during the summer to ensure that they did not experience the “summer slide” in their academic progress. I am continuing their Kumon enrollment to allow them to increase even further and progress to above grade-level.I am a professional educator so I had very high expectations for Kumon. They have exceeded my expectations. They provide the structure and consistency to allow children to master the materials without being overwhelmed. They monitor their progress continually and make adjustments whenever necessary to ensure that the children are advancing. The management and staff of the Decatur location are absolutely wonderful. The owner is kind, approachable, knowledgeable, helpful and goes above-and-beyond. She customizes a learning experience that is optimal for your child.My only regret is that I did not learn about Kumon until my kids were in the 2nd grade. If I had known earlier, I would have enrolled them before kindergarten. But, thankfully I discovered them from talking to some fellow parents and they have had a tremendous impact upon my children’s learning.

The Dectaur location has the most pleasant and patient staff. More importantly I have seen improvement w/ not my 4th & 7th grader within the short months they’ve been attending Kumon. Looking forward to seeing further improvements and very thankful for all the tutors there!

We noticed vast improvement in our grandchilds reading and math abilities while attending Decatur Kumon. Their teaching method, materials, great location and Crystals staff create a stimulating learning environment. We highly recommend their services.

I first heard of Kumon through a group on Facebook. I decided to enroll my daughter. Honestly, I was a skeptic at first after reviewing the packets that were being sent home; but the proof is in the pudding! She scored in14th percentile during the fall Map testing. I am proud to say that she scored in the 94th percentile in math and the 95th percentile in reading out of Dekalb county 1st graders! This is the result of less than a year with Kumon. Stay persistent, consistent, and trust the process!!! It works!

My daughter attended kumon at the decatur location for the past two years. I have seen a dramatic change in her attitude towards school and learning. The staff is very friendly and the director is very attentive to your childs individual needs. Great experience overall and good value as well.
