I love this place! During a time of quarantine , the owner Erick offered free zoom classes that not only help my mental stability but also my waist line. Finishing up a 6 week regime this Friday and started seeing results week 1. United Elite is the real deal! Staff is friendly and super awesome! I signed up here back when I was attending grad school at NIU a number of years ago. I visited because a neighbor of mine was an amateur MMA fighter and I wanted to learn self-defense and to become a better fighter. In total, I visited 6-8 times and I thought the gym was nice, had a range of members: college students, athletes, and regular folks who want to work out. The reason why I am giving the place 1 star is because in my experience, it was dangerous. I saw that they had sparring and due to my inexperience, after a few training sessions, I signed up. I should have been more cautious. I was paired up with a number of people, some who were amateur mma fighters and some who were regular folks. The danger actually came from the regular folks, one of which was larger and older than I was. Because I was inexperienced, I rushed in, went hard, and landed a few kicks. The other guy was older and stronger and he took a huge swing and broke my nose. I was stunned, but I had had my nose broken before so I wasnt completely shocked. The reason why I write that this place is dangerous is because, the instructor noticed that my nose was bleeding and let me know about it, but didnt seemed concerned. In fact, after I managed to stop the bleeding, he actually encouraged us to keep going. Luckily the larger guy saw the danger and we both stopped. I shudder to think of what could have happened. We were both untrained, but we were in a space that encouraged violence. I should have fully realized that mma is a bloodsport, but I did not expect to have my nose broken. Ive been at other gyms/dojos and they discourage sparring unless someone is trained enough and that happens under close supervision. I dont blame the gym nor the owner since my nose had already been broken, but I am posting this for others to be careful. I think this place is great for cardio and learning self-defense, but you really need to be slow and watch yourself since accidents can and do happen.

Great gym, been here for 6 years now and I always get better and better every day. Environment is very supportive, classes are great, this gym is practically perfect!

Great place!! It is only been a month but i can see a difference in my life; God knows the impact i will have if i stick around for more than a year. Thank you for such hardwork you put in to your students.

Head instructor eric states he likes to learn from his students, pretends to be humble, and at the first notion that maybe he is wrong, he gets defensive. Respect goes both ways and questions are helpful in a learning environment but he doesnt get that and unfortunately you have to pay for his classes to attend the other instructors classes. What a shame. If your boxing instructor tells you on the first day of training that there is no reason to snap back a punch, run the other way. This is not a fake review, I can prove that I visited this gym on 3 occasions, and Eric, if you see this, all it takes is a simple google search.

Had a blast there doing kickboxing in 2013 0r 14. Will be looking into going back, soon.
