My daughter started with them in 2014. She loves it and is now a third degree black belt and even teaches some children’s classes there. It has been a wonderful experience for her. They also make me feel very welcome when I visit. The owners are professional and caring. I could not ask for a better group of people than the Rogers and the folks at Denton Tae Kwon Do.

Denton Taekwando Academy is just AWESOME!The facilities are brand new and clean. The classes are small and tailored to each students needs. The owners and instructors are very good with the children. There are no long term contracts, I believe the fees are very fair. Every student gets individual attention and there is continuous re-evaluation of each students needs. I am an older woman, and not very athletic, and yet they worked very hard with me to help me earn a first degree black belt. I am so very impressed with the academy, the owners, the instructors and my fellow students.I love this place and the people.

I have been a student at Denton Taekwondo Academy for about a year and a half now and I have loved every minute of it. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers truly care about their art and their students and its evident from the moment you first attend a class. Its wonderful that theres such a strong adult program, since many martial arts schools have moved away from providing those. Its a great way to stay in shape, challenge yourself, and maybe even make a few friends in the process!

I love this place! Mr and Mrs Rogers are great. My daughter trains here. I think Taekwondo is idea for all children, and would recommend for a lot of adults. I think discipline and learning defensive sparing is important for kids and am proud my daughter wants to learn! Thanks for all the hard work and dedication.

We’ve made Taekwondo a family activity...and we could not be happier with Denton Taekwon Do Academy. Mr. And Mrs. Rogers are exceptional instructors, patient, professional, and overall awesome! Our 10 yr old looks forward to going weekly...and that’s saying a lot. Being over 45, I appreciate most how they allow you to adjust for your own physical limitations as necessary. Very happy we found them!

As a new student and returning to the martial art after a couple of decades away, Ive been very impressed with the ownership and instructors. They teach sound fundamentals and have attracted a range of people, males and females of all ages. Theres a sense of community among the folks, and while I dont have a child in attendance there, its obvious that theyre very good with kids.

As someone who has trained at two different studios before coming here, I have found this place to be fantastic. Having trained here for over a year, and made my first degree black belt, I have found the teachers to be amazing, with over 15+ years of experience. Each with their own types of workouts. I would highly reccomend this place to anyone who is starting out, or an experienced martial artist. If you have a kid or kids who are looking to try taekwomdo, this is the place to go. Both the teachers are amazing with kids and are really encouraging to them.

This man is not a 1/2 bad martial artist for somebody thats been the same rank for almost 20 years, lol. I received my first degree from chuck in about 4 years and when I went back to obtain my 2nd degree ( trained about 1 year more) one day out of the blue chuck had a phscotic break down. I was changing in his little closet that smelled like sweat and pee when he adbruptly opened the door and asked me to leave. He went on rambling how I was disrespectful. The reason for chucks episode is the fact that hes not a true martial artist and lives on his own island. Im a mixed martial artist and I refused to spar with kids that dont keep their hands up for one and if I wish to block by raising my leg( muytie) I will do so as I please. He would also ramble on about how easily I could break his cheap plastic bags and threaten to make me pay for them, lol. However, I think that his main issue is that hes use to traning kids and is intmitaded by adults. Sorry, but Im if m not saying yes sir to you enough get over yourself.TKD was a decent fighting system when first introduced into the US. Then over the years it became TKD light and because of economic reasons began to focus more and more on children using the black belt as a marketing tool. Some of the techniques are still there, but the training is weak, and so is the application because we cant have injured kids. Bad for business. I am a lifetime member of the International Takwondo Federation( Takwondo America) and I use to spend my youth advertising for this studio. I just looked at the old Black Belt membership directory. For the country, maybe one or two 3rd Dans, and the rest 1st Dan or 2nd Dan existed in the 70s ( just after the Korean conflict.) Now I meet kids with 3rd Dans in TKD. Its very sad. Something very special has been lost.I have moved on from his school and ranked up threw the community and national board rather then tolerate his disrespect. once a black belt always a black belt. Moreover, its not the belt that makes the artist, rather its the artist that makes the belt. I have much more to say but will just add one final note. Respect adults and mixed artist 👨‍🎤 in the future for your career depends on it.

I was a student at Denton Tae Kwon Do 25 years ago and progressed to first degree black belt. Starting as an uncoordinated kid lacking self-confidence, Tae Kwon Do trained me to handle my body and form habits of discipline that would help me for years to come. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers really want students to become skilled martial artists but are just as driven to help kids become honest, respectful, and productive citizens. My kids enrolled this year and as a parent I have a new appreciation for the program. They really have teaching Tae Kwon Do down to a science and they do it well. I know they are not just teaching my kids a martial art but they are also teaching memory patterns, goal setting, manners, self-confidence, how to handle disappointment, a how to maintain a positive attitude, how to respond quickly, and many other skills that will serve them well for decades. The best part is, the way they teach these lessons is fun!My kids will be the 3rd generation in our family to train at Denton Tae Kwon Do academy and I expect they will one day want their kids to learn the same skills and life lessons.John H. Ive been a (adult) student at Denton Taekwondo Academy for almost half a year now, and Ive made green belt rank. The program here is VERY good at teaching excellent martial arts skills. The classes are small, individualized, and held 6 days a week. For ten bucks more, you can go to unlimited classes each week (which means you could train for about 10 hours if you made *all* the classes).DTA isnt part of any international Taekwondo organizations, but teaches traditional Taekwondo. What does this mean?* No kukkiwon or organizational fees keep costs to a minimum. Each belt testing is 40$, compared to several hundreds of dollars in other organizations.* Tuition is also inexpensive - roughly a hundred dollars a month. There also are NO CONTRACTS, which is awesome.* The curriculum teaches practical skills that arent altered to meet organizational needs. Some olympic organizations are very conservative on the usage of hand techniques (punches / backfists / etc) and may not even teach them. Fighting without using your hands is stupid, and DTA doesnt do that. We keep our hands up and use them in conjunction with kicks.* DTA is not a sparring school. Kids and adults are not shoved into full contact sparring until theyve demonstrated that they understand how to use good control and block well. There havent been serious injuries in decades (and if Im not mistaken, the only serious one weve had here is a broken nose).* We dont have those silly camouflage belts that the ATA has.The instruction that Ive received in the adult classes is incredibly high quality, insightful, and helpful. There are many instances in which my instructor has been able to point out and help me fix flaws in my techniques immediately. On Thursdays, a guest instructor teaches the 7:00 class, which helps give more perspective on my training. The environment here is great. The instructors are polite without being overbearingly social. The students here are REALLY nice, making it a pleasant place to train. Some other pros and cons that I havent mentioned:Pros:*Almost everything weve been taught is *practical.* People arent taught to, say, block a strike with a baseball bat with our forearms.*Adults with flexibility or fitness issues can train too! Ive seen some people with both problems train well and make a lot of progress. Also, if youre a fitness guy - Taekwondo is MAD cardio.*Not a McDojo. There arent any contracts, silly fees, unreasonable prices, etc. The instructors are experienced, well qualified, and give instruction that is WELL worth the tuition.Cons:*It takes a while to get to green belt level and spar. Its made me a better martial artist, but I am an impatient guy, so...*We practice forms (aka poomse / taegeuk / patterns ) and they can be boring sometimes. Its just a part of Taekwondo that people who have ADHD, like me, may dislike.*Adult classes are held after childrens classes. Children smell.Ive loved training here and Id recommend DTA to anyone, including all of my friends. Anyone can train here - and its a wonderful experience.
