Excellence on every front! Instruction in class and on the water was everything it needed to be and then some. The instructors were very knowledgeable and time spent with the school builds the confidence to go forward if you are considering buying or chartering a boat. I highly recommend Victoria Sailing School.

My boyfriend and I had such a wonderful experience with Tibor, his captains, and Victoria Sailing School. In just a few months, we are out on the water sailing by ourselves. You will learn everything you need to know to begin sailing even if you have no experience. It is fun. Everyone is kind, passionate, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!

Just finished Coastal Navigation (105) with Tibor as the instructor and it was awesome. Excellent presentation of a difficult subject. I highly recommend it as well as the other sailing courses. I completed 101 and 103 last year - great practicals on the water and top notch theory classes. The sailboats and instructors are all first rate. Victoria Sailing is THE place to learn to sail or improve your skills.

I have taken several ASA classes as well as the Marine Diesel Engine classes from Victoria Sailing School. The ASA classes are great for learning and getting comfortable with sailing. Their Why Buy Club is a great way to get to spend time sailing while saving a lot of money and time by not needing to own a boat. Lastly, the diesel classes were extremely impressive. Learning how diesel engines work isnt all that hard, but feeling comfortable working on them and getting hands-on experience with finding and fixing issues is invaluable. I highly recommend the diesel classes (and take all 3, not just the first one!)

I took ASA105 with Victoria Sailing school and loved it. I attempted 105 before with another sailing school but never completed it. Then I found Victoria Sailing school and completed the course with the help of their recorded videos and, subsequently, was able to complete the certification.I really enjoyed the variety of charts and situations they presented as part of their material. The depth of the information was so much better than you would find in a school that only uses the typical training chart.

I highly recommend Victoria Sailing School. Starting with zero sailing experience I earned my ASA101 & ASA103 certifications within two months. I sailed once a week, but instructors and boats are readily available allowing for accelerated learning if desired. The accompanying eLearnToSail site has many useful videos and overviews that made passing my exams a breeze. Each instructor is a wealth of knowledge and focused on safety and proper seamanship. The J22 fleet and J30 are well maintained and fun to sail. Looking forward to future certifications with the VSS.

Victoria Sailing School is a true gem and a true blessing for Colorado and Coloradans. Victorias classes provide everything you need to get ready for ocean cruising, including the infrastructure to practice on small and large keel boats via their Why Buy Club, trips to Catalina island, as well as refreshers such as docking classes.Dont let the dated website fool you, Tibor and his team are on it 24/7, providing quality education at affordable rates. All the instructional materials are available online, allowing you to learn at your own pace. While also dated in appearance, these materials exceed those provided by ASA in quality. For example, while ASA would use fancy perspective drawings of sailboats to illustrate the position of the sails at different angles to the wind, a simple schematic top view is what you really need to appreciate that the sails optimally remain at the exact same angle to the wind, no matter the orientation of the boat. Instructor Jim Cook also provides countless mnemonics that are difficult to unhear and have came in handy when you really need them (example: the clew is clueless).Im very happy with my experience at Victorias Sailing School and am looking forward to be continue working on my ASA104 certification.

Highly recommend Victoria Sailing School! I took my first ASA classes in Florida and did not have a great experience there. Wanting to gain more confidence, I took ASA 118 Docking Endorsement with VSS. I learned SO MUCH in the 6 hours of docking class - Ken, the instructor, was so patient and also really really good at explaining the physics of docking. Also the online videos were really well done and very helpful. The website can be a little tricky to navigate but dont let that get in the way - the sailing instruction is top notch. I cant wait to take more classes/lessons with VSS next summer.

I highly recommend Victoria Sailing School for any of your sailing instruction. I have taken several courses from them (ASA 101/103/104/114) and just finished a three day Diesel Engine course. All of the courses are taught by instructors that know what they are doing. For every course I have taken, I have been impressed with the staff and instructors and felt like the genuinely cared to make sure I understood the lesson. I will be back to continue adding skills and certifications.

Took the full ASA 101 and ASA 103 courses and absolutely loved them. Got the pleasure of sailing with the owner on a few occasions, who is incredibly knowledgeable and fun to hang out with. Invaluable experience taught with attention to detail and a focus on repeating important skills till theyre locked in. If youre in any way interested in sailing, I highly recommend the ASA 101-103 combo. Once youre on the water, youll never want to stop! Also, as I took courses with them during the COVID 19 pandemic, its important to point out the incredible level of professionalism and responsibility from their instructors. Always masked, always making sure students were masked, etc.If you thought you were doomed to a life off the water here in landlocked Colorado, look no further!

Who would of ever thought that this land locked state would have a most excellent Marine Dessel Class. It Does. Tibor rocked it with good hands on learning. He kept breaking the engines and we had to fix them. I now have the confidence to dive into mine, whenever needed. A Plus.....

Wow! I searched for two years looking for a school at which I could complete Celestial Navigation when I finally found Victoria Sailing School. They offer a well laid out course that is flexible and really teaches a very complex topic in a straight forward approach. The material is put together in a logical manner and presented in a comprehensive package. The main goal of the class is to teach the necessary skills to navigate celestially safely. They do that well. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in thoroughly learning celestial navigation.

Took ASA 103 this summer (2019). Attended one class and took the rest of the course online. Both were very good. Learned a lot in the on-the-water practicums from two different instructors. Both were very responsive to my never ending questions. Good prep for the certification exam. Id highly recommend this course. Well worth it!

I have been involved in water sports for most of my life (whitewater rafting/kayaking, sea kayaking, outrigger canoeing, scuba diving, etc) but somehow had never taken a huge interest in sailing until the pandemic forced me to abort my upcoming travel plans. Being “stuck” in Colorado (for the short term, at least) I decided to look into an additional water-based activity that I could learn this summer. This process led to my discovery of VSS and I could not be more grateful! Though I am comfortable in many water environments, sailing is definitely a new world for me. The thoughtful methodology and patient teaching styles of the VSS staff is without question best in class. The instructors truly care about not only teaching students the correct “answer” but they invest themselves fully in ensuring that students come away with a deep understanding of the “why” behind the “what.” If you are considering embarking on the adventure of sailing I highly recommend you begin that journey with VSS. They will give you an incredible foundation upon which to build your future as a competent, confident sailor!

Learning to sail in Colorado...you wouldn’t think it would be possible, but Victoria Sailing School makes it easy with several courses/ certifications that put you on the water immediately learning from teachers that have a great wealth of experience and knowledge (and great sailing stories if you ask). There are online and in-person classes to broaden your knowledge with the rules of the water. As working professionals, we never had an issue booking and taking any of the classes.Colorado is more challenging than you think for sailing. We’ve heard several times from instructors that if you can sail on Colorado’s weather, you can sail anywhere.Lastly, once you are certified for the 103 series you can utilize their Why Buy Club to rent a boat to continue the practicals on your own. Anyone that has has a remote interest in sailing should investigate it further with Victoria Sailing School.

The Victoria Sailing School provides instruction with both depth and breadth, which has allowed me to gain the knowledge, experience, and confidence to sail. Im very much looking forward to sailing from Long Beach, California to Catalina Island this week as part of the ASA-104 and ASA-114 courses.I encourage all prospective students to enroll in and complete the classes offered by the Victoria Sailing School and extend my best wishes to you in your sailing endeavors. Tibor and the instructors at Victoria Sailing School are great to work with and very knowledgeable. My wife and I made a goal to learn to sail before our 30th anniversary and captain our own boat in the BVI. We both recently completed ASA 101 and 103 and have plans to sail the BVI this summer. We couldn’t have reached this goal without the team at Victoria. If you are interested in learning to sail I would suggest taking a demo sail with Victoria, you are out on the boat with an instructor and a student or two. It gives you a great understanding of what sailing school is like.To top off your education they have a “Why Buy Club” that allows students who have passed the ASA 103 to use any of their J22 boats at 4 different locations for a fraction of the cost of owning a boat. They also have classes on docking, racing, etc. Victoria is truly an all inclusive sailing school.Thank you to Tibor and all the instructors at Victoria for making our sailing dream a reality!
