Du is a great university, and I had a wonderful experience there. The coursework is challenging, but if you approach it seriously and work hard, the faculty and staff truly want you to succeed and will extend themselves accordingly. One of the things I remember most vividly was that the DU faculty treated you with respect. This was in sharp contrast to my experience in medical school! Overall I received a great education in my undergraduate and graduate degrees. As I continue to follow what is happening on the campus, I am glad to see the university continues to focus on excellence.

I cant say that University of Denver has not helped me advance about my career beyond the Masters of Arts. It has not been a picnic the first year out of graduate school but eventually, being fluently bilingual helped. I certainly appreciated the quality of individual instruction from my professors at College of Education. Im forever grateful for their support and input such as the Career center, their advocating for me with professional references. Their classes were no picnic and the quality of material and assignments made you work very hard and build character. The only downside is that if you are not part of the majority, then it can be a snoody social environment. Of course, that was 15 years ago. I see more diversity about that school today in 2015.

BA69 MBA80 DU equipped me to successfully work with Pop in a 100 employee company, then after wed sold to work as Assistant-to-the-President for a large public corporation after returning to graduate school. From there, its been helpful in all kinds of ways to help keep me current and motivated. Today more than ever life-long learning is essential, schools are always optional, Im now a big believer in self-directed learning, if you choose to find a school, it would be difficult to find a better one than DU.

This university was hosting me as an intern. I got to met a lot of professors and interact with graduates. The atmosphere was pleasant, but I did feel alone because it was rare to find another Native American on campus, on my own. Luckily, the program I was with worked with the multi cultural center at DU who put me in contact with the few Native American students on campus. Mind you though that this was during the summer so, I could be wrong to assume that there are few Native students.I stayed in an apartment on campus and found it pretty nice. There was someone on my floor who would smoke pot every other day so the place smelled and there was a couple across from me who would loudly argue and slam doors that woke me up. However, I made the decision to not let these bother me and ruin my time here. When I did this, I began enjoy myself, met new people, and explore. There are a good amount of local pubs and restaurants close to the campus, just a walk away. I highly recommend the Jerusalem Restaurant and Petes!Another thing I should add is that it is very convenient that there are a couple of bus stops near the campus, as well as a stop for the Light Rail (a mode of transportation I recommend you try). Also, security here is pretty high, which made me feel safe most nights.Overall, the DU campus is a small beautiful site and I would recommend visiting if you should get the chance. As far as cost or the quality of education a student receives here, I cannot comment on. However, if you do feel out of place here, especially if you are of the minority, like myself, please connect with the Multicultural Center. It is located near the DU Apartments right on University Blvd. They are nice and always willing to help. 🤓

Absolutely ridiculous this university is allowed to exist in this country. I spent over $30k on a Master’s Degree 2 years ago and it hasn’t helped me get a job. You can learn more for free in a week on YouTube. Don’t waste your time or money with this institution. None of the teachers, counselors, administration, or even the chancellor give a **** about their students, all they care about is collecting your hard earned money. I contacted everybody possible at the school about my inability to find work and they basically told me nothing is wrong with their program and they feel their Master’s Degree should qualify students for an entry level position. Lol

DU is overpriced and overrated. Other reviewers celebrate its copper roofs and wealthy alma mater and that sums up the University pretty well: image based and substance-less. DU inflates its image like it has some sort of Ivy League Inferiority Complex but neglects to actually educate its students. From the housing to health services, DU cuts corners wherever possible, so long as it can maintain appearances. I got out after two years, before I subjected myself to crippling debt, but many are baited through quarter by quarter and leave with an enormous financial burden without the real-world skills to relieve themselves.I encourage anyone who values individuality, financial security, and the pursuit of knowledge to avoid this institution at all costs.

The only reason I gave this a one star is cause I cant give it 0 stars. If your not white or rich then this is not the school for you! The college environment is extremely toxic and staff is rude and unhelpful. Nothing at DU gets done because all departments are siloed and dont communicate with each other. For example, every department has their own agenda with how they define Inclusive Excellence (IE). Since IE has so many damn definitions theres too many initiatives and missions which ends up stepping on other departments toes. I constantly felt like my identity was being attacked. Racism is everywhere on this campus but it is never addressed cause chancellor chopp sweeps it under the rug to protect DUs brand for the sake of funding. Students here are snobs and bougie and there is very limited resources here. Oh yeah and tuition costs an arm and a leg so if your cool with that then be my guest.

If you are seeking a Soccer Scholarship at DU this is for you. Recently went to review and observe their Mens and Womens Soccer training. I am a National Soccer Coach and Advanced National NSCAA coach, the program i designed to get ideas and programs for our own sake. From a University level, you would expect a well put together and formatted training session. Was very disappointing. The phase 1 technical warm up was great and during such warm up they started to place small goals in an assumed preparation for a small sided phase 2 event immediately after. That did not happen, they actually moved to the other field after phase one, and went to some kind of full game phase 4 with some very strange rules that just did not mimic the true meaning of the game. Plus the coach decided to actually coach from the very top of bleachers, totally disconnecting themselves from the players, and not able to perform freeze plays and make any necessary adjustments. As a coach for 25 years, it was a bit concerning that a University coach would do such a thing, and not very USSF or NSCAA styled training as we all expected. After i reviewed the Mens portion, I didnt even bother to go the next day to review the Womens side.

While I value greatly my educational experience at D.U., I am appalled at its recent action to dishonor a former President of our country. To invite a President for presenting one type of award and then deny him that designation because of his failure to meet the criteria for same is inexcusable; and, frankly embarrassing to this alum. One would think that he needs a free dinner and that is the only reason he has been invited. Shame on D.U. for this type of action!

I am currently attending DUs Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW) program as an Advanced Standing student with a concentration in children and youth. I have found that my program has provided a wide variety of courses and concentrations to choose from and that I have always found interesting class options to fulfill my credit requirements. I feel that the classes are rigorous and are preparing me to be a social worker in both the field and in working with children and youth. The professors care about burnout, self-care, our overall well-being, our difference in learning styles, and helping us to be ready for a career after graduation. The internship opportunities available are vast-600 agencies within the Denver Metro area to choose from and allow for job opportunities after the completion of the program. As someone who moved from out of state to attend DU, I would say that DU has definitely felt like home. I did not attend DU for my undergraduate degree, so I cannot comment on what that experience is like. However, I would strongly recommend attending DU for graduate school in the social work program. The one negative thing I would say about the university and the program in general is that it is not a very diverse atmosphere and it is definitely something the university seriously needs to work on.

I have to agree with the previous indictments of University College program. I completed the M.L.S. program with a concentration in Creative Writing. I was unable to attend a traditional MFA program because of my family situation, and at the time, DU looked like my best option to study creative writing (there are many online MFA programs popping up nowadays; wish I had waited a few years). The academic rigor in the UC program (with few exceptions) was not nearly what I expected. I did have one or two good instructors who went the extra mile, so I learned a few things, but mostly there was a culture of apathy among the instructors and other students. If I could hop in my time machine I would go back and choose differently.I admit, Im partly to blame. I stuck with this program too long. I figured out about halfway through my coursework that the quality just wasnt there. The curriculum was shallow, repetitive, and had a lot of filler classes. The courses glossed over basics. But I had already spent so much time and money in this program that I felt like I couldnt start over (thats how they get you). I figured an MLS in Creative Writing couldnt be that much worse than an MFA in Creative Writing. Well, I was wrong. When when my degree finally came in the mail, it doesnt say a single word about my Creative Writing focus. It just says Arts and Culture (like thats employable at all). Nothing but FLUFF! I definitely feel like the University overstated and misrepresented the type of degree this would be. After all that time and money, I would have to start fresh somewhere else to get what I originally thought I was getting. The best I can do now is grind in the writing world and hope my publication record makes up for this flimsy degree. What a waste!

Literally the worst life decision I have ever made. Many prospective DU students might be unfamiliar with the University College program, which operates in their classrooms each evening. The program is designed to allow adult and nontraditional the opportunity to obtain their degree. When I was first admitted to the University College program at DU I couldn’t have been prouder. Cindy Anderson, the admission coordinator at the time, recommended the BACP program and spoke passionately of its success stories. I wished to fulfill a goal in my life that had sat dormant on the shelf. Being an entrepreneur a degree isn’t a career need that I require, but it is a personal need that I believed would be an important step along my life path. A good friend offered to help support my schooling as I couldn’t personally afford it and my parents have never been financially able to help with my education. He and his husband have supported me every step of the way.Despite the school’s best intentions. The classes at DU did not provide the academic rigor I expected. Many of the classes simply ran together and it became hard to differentiate one class from the next. My writing skills declined as I found that many of the papers I submitted were not event being read. Many teachers were using their adjunct position to acquire consulting gigs and network. Our writing workshop class was taught at best, at an 8th grade level. In a literature class I attended I was asked to re-read a book I had read in high school. What the program did provide was community amongst other adult students that had, for whatever reason, been unable to complete their degree. The stories they shared provided more education than anything the classroom offered. Many have become close friends and one such student, my wife. These students all kept their mouths shut about the program’s shortcomings, as they simply wanted to get their degree and get on with their lives.I worked incredibly hard on each assignment I submitted. Meanwhile many BACP students began to lose faith in the program. They recycled papers, missed assignment due dates and generally languished. The BACP program and the leadership running the ship need to be badly overhauled if they wish to provide the educational benefits they tout on their website.
