Awesome place! My son has been doing karate here for 5 years. We live in wichita, but had seen an advertisement for a 2 week trial on Facebook so we signed up. We loved the atmosphere and the instructors here so much that, even though there are places in Wichita closer to us where he could do karate, we chose to stay here. Now its been 5 years and we love it just as much as we did day 1.

Looking for a school that verbally berates and assaults 11 year olds? Well here you go. There is proof from the July 31 Pro Mac in Springfield Mo. He verbally assaulted and had to be held back from physically going after AN 11 YEAR OLD GIRL because she was gaining points on his “prized fighter”. Dude should be in jail. Let me say the parents of this school weren’t much better.

I can not be more happy with our decision to enroll my daughter, son, and wife. This school is AMAZING!! Absolutely wonderful instructors. The owner Sensei Tom Hinkle and Sensei Nash are great with both of my children. Sensei Walker has helped my wife become more confident.

Super verbally aggressive towards children-should not be allowed to be around children

Our family loves DMAA. Our children have found their inner motivation to become better and create goals for their own achievement. They are becoming strong young people with refined good character. After 6 years of watching my children grow on this journey, I have taken the leap and joined the adult class. I am having an absolute blast in class.

Weve been a member of Derby Martial Arts for 3 years. This is so much more than a karate school. This is a family. My son has a higher level of respect and discipline because of our time here. I have seen him grow in confidence and be a stronger individual. I could not imagine my son taking karate from anyone else. We recommend this school to everyone!

My son loves this place. He looks forward to it each week. If he has been in trouble at school they are very good at holding your child accountable for their actions. My son listens better, he pays attention and has better respect.

Derby Martial Arts Academy is a great place for kids all the way up to adults. Not only do they hold their classes, but, they have camps for kids of all ages. They host a parents night out and birthday parties. The kids really love all the instructors as well. Happy to be a member!

This dojo had done wonders for my sons confidence. He had grown not only in his karate abilities, but in his confidence with school and every other aspect of his life. It is a total family atmosphere there and everyone treats you like you matter.

Weve had our oldest daughter in Karate at DMAA for almost 6 months. Within the first couple of months we noticed such a positive change in her. Shes more focused, working harder in all aspects of her life and just a better kid in general. They are so great with all the kids and really work to help them strive to be the best all around person they can be. The flexibility of the classes is wonderful as well. I even joined their Cardio Kickboxing and love it! As soon as our youngest is old enough we will be enrolling her in the Little Dragons as well!

My family and I enjoy taking karate at Derby Martial Arts Academy. The classes are a lot of fun, not to mention the practical applications that are being taught. I would recommend this dojo to anyone wanting to learn karate.

This dojo is hands down phenomenal!!! The owners and they’re family are amazing with their students. My kids feel like it’s a home away from home. They really help inspire the kids. We love Derby Martial Arts. All of the instructors are so great. They do a great job with all the kids no matter the age. My boys have learned so much in a short timeframe. They are focused on so much to better the children even outside of the studio, like school, self confidence, social ability. Thank you to all the staff.

Friendly staff, very easy to work with, and the instructors are VERY patient with the little kids. I give them a BIG THANK YOU from bottom of my heart. Have a “lil dragon” he was shy at first and wouldn’t step on the mat but with patience from the instructors and little nudge to get on the mat. He loves it now. Thank you DMAA.

The staff is awesome and caring! I have 4 children ages 3-12 and they all love coming and learning important life lessons and discipline.

We love the family oriented atmosphere. The Hinkles have done a great job with our son and we always feel so welcome.

From the first day we stepped in the door and still seven years later we have experienced the upmost integrity and passion for student development you would expect from a Martial Arts school.

This Dojo has been amazing for my two boys. They look forward to going to Karate every Tuesday and Thursday! I look forward to watching them progress as they learn the core values and more techniques. This Academy really feels like a family. Everyone is so friendly.

My oldest started at DMAA back in October of 2015 as a Little Dragon. I figured it would just be something fun to get her more active. Then we joined, not only did she have fun but her self esteem and confidence in herself exploded! Shes has more respect towards me (mom) and others around her. The instructors are funny and so caring, they work and put their hearts and souls into this Dojo and our family is so grateful that we have become apart of that family. My daughter is now in the next level of classes and she is getting more and more into it. I cant wait to see where she goes from here and I am so proud of the hard work not only my daughter puts in but those at the dojo put in with her. Shes coming out of her shell and loves being there!My youngest daughter is getting ready to start in Little Dragons and we cant wait to see how it goes with her as well.

My son started coming to DMAA in April and already had his yellow belt! The Senseis make the classes so much fun for the kids and every class is fun and different. My son loves sparring and is already learning the foundations to becoming a black belt as well as being a team member and showing kindness and respect to his classmates and Senseis. I highly recommend karate, especially at DMAA for any kid. Parents can enjoy watching their kids participate in class and believe me theres many laughs. These kids are very entertaining!Its always fun to watch the kids on testing days too! Not only do they work so hard for their belts but the atmosphere of accomplishment and pride is amazing. I love watching my son gain self confidence. Karate at DMAA is wonderful!
