I have a niece and nephew who have attended the school since it opened and it is by far, the most organized school that I have ever seen. As far as communication is concerned, every month a Parent Newsletter is emailed out and it gives us all the information for that month, including lunch menus. Teachers also send out a newsletter for their grade level. Parents can access your childs grades on the Parent Portal 24/7 so you should never be surprised about any grades that your student receives. The Drive Line setup keeps all the students safe, all the staff is working together and I have even seen the principal, Mrs. Glenn, out in the rain putting in Drive Line numbers. The school is very focused on academics and making sure that students learn, so if that is not your goal, then this may not be the school for your child. I like the fact that all students must test. It lets me know that the school and its leadership is about the business of educating. They have my full support.

I honestly couldn’t be more disappointed with this school than I am right now. I was just called by the school’s principal explaining how my child, who is autistic (something she didn’t know although my child was in Y5) would only be able to go to kindergarten because of his test scores. It wasn’t the fact that he has to go to kindergarten because of his scoring, it was the fact that she didn’t even know he has autism, the fact that she thinks she knows my child and wants to talk long term about his life and where he may end up. It was the fact that she told me maybe I should explore different options other than Pembroke Academy but my son absolutely loves his school! It was the fact that she was so discouraging I decided to withdraw my child and find him a school who will welcome him with open arms! My son excelled in Y5, he was a top student in his class. I believe my child would have excelled pretty fast in kindergarten and would have been promoted to first, as he did exceptional in Y5. Thank you for your discouraging words!!

Beware of the short brown skin drive line lady with the salt n pepper hair. She’s very argumentative. Her delivery is horrible and ghetto. She argue with the parents in front of there children. Very unprofessional and one day a recipe for disaster. No complaints about anything else thus far…

I would not give them any stars if I could. My boys attended the school for two years. They had great special services for the boys but when Covid hit they dropped the ball tremendously. They lied, miscommunicated, altogether just mishandled the whole school year for my boys. My son had 4 teachers for one school year because the teacher left for maternity leave. Half way through the school year I tried to get them to return to in-person learning because I saw they were struggling, they called me and said they could add them then called back a week later and said they couldnt but at the beginning of the school year they told me they could return to in-person learning whenever I needed them too. I got them enrolled for the summer program only for them to be taken out of the program because they felt I didnt respond to them quickly about re-enrolling them for the next school year. Typical Detroit Public School behavior. Charter school or not....Some of the teachers were Great... Mrs. Smith and Ms. King were great with communication, Mrs. Benning never communicated the whole school year. Even though, I tried to contact her on several occasions to see how my son was doing. Typical petty, messy behavior of blaming everyone instead of taking responsibility for their actions. Covid was hard for everyone readjusting their schedules, dealing with personal problems etc. but during this time the professionalism was sub-par. I do take full responsibility for my role. However, I am writing this because I dont want other children to end up dealing with the same issues I did while their children are attending the school. Besides that great curriculum, and special services.

My experience here at Pembroke Academy has been nothing but great. My daughter has never been in school or daycare before, so I thought her transitioning to school would be so hard. However, the teachers and upper management of this school helped with the transition which made it a lot easier for her. Now as of today she looks forward to going to school, and do not want to miss a day. When she come home from school she talks about her day and how much she loves school the entire ride home and about an hour once we get home (its a long ride home lol). I enjoy hearing the excitement in her voice and seeing the smile on her face as she reflects back on her school day. Her teacher is amazing. All the teachers here are amazing. If you want your child to learn and exceed more than you ever thought they could....Pembroke Academy is definitely the school to visit. I promise you will not be disappointed.

I am a VERY proud and satisfied parent of a Pembroke Academy Young 5s student. Starting school was an adjustment for my daughter. It was all new to her. Now, my daughter is excelling- top 2 of her class! Her teacher, Mrs. Amatulhaqq is amazing. She has truly been a blessing to us. We couldnt have asked for a better teacher school. They have the safest drop-off/pick-up ever. The fact that my five year old is learning Mandarin & robotics blows my mind. I would highly recommend Pembroke Academy!

This school is exceptional in its approach to education! I would choose no other school for my child. As a parent, I receive consistent communication from the school including monthly school newsletters, weekly school messengers, daily messages via Class Dojo, and through the electronic marquee outside the school. Not to mention, the principal, Ms. Glenn is always accessible. I have seen her outside during drive lines, in the cafeteria at breakfast, leading morning assemblies and on a daily basis walking through the building, in and out of classrooms. Parents... Pembroke is the place to be for a top notch education for your child!

Nice school but terrible staff due to the Principal and assistant principal lack of communication with the parents. They leave it up to the Dean and other staff which some staff will personally single a student out to suspend them and accommodate times to bring students back but knowing they will not see the parents nor the students making it hard for kids to come back to school because of their ill feelings they have towards a student. A student should be in class but since kids will be kids the staff members make it seem like the kids is endangering the school and stopping everyone from learning because the adults/Staff Members doesn’t know how to control a situation correctly so the first action is to suspend and stop a child learning is beyond childish
