School has a great culture, strong values, commitment to excellence and engaging leaders that work collaboratively with students and parents. I love this school. Founding Principal Solomon has worked diligently in building a great school. I have been here since school first opened and have been pleased with my children’s achievements and appreciate the exposure to various activities/assignments, especially those with STEM focus. The school offers various extra enrichment courses for all interests. I have recommended this school to several friends and not one has been disappointed and neither will you.

An an employee of UPSM Elementary for 5 years (since the school was founded) I have literally seen us soar to great heights. Our amazing and fearless leader Kimberly Phillips Solomon has the structures in place to make us an exemplary Expeditionary Learning school.We offer cutting edge technology in Project Lead the Way as well as a host of Specials classes which you do not see at every school including : Music, Art, P.E & a full time Science teacher.Each year, my students & colleagues amaze me with the college prep work that is being taught and retained by our scholars. We are an awesome school with a very supportive parent community!

I love this school. UPSM Elementary School has the most genuine staff of any school weve been to. Each staff person, from top administration to front office, cares about the students. They push the students to strive for their best and are always encouraging and celebratory. I feel that each child is affirmed at this school. They engage with the parents the same way. I feel extremely welcomed and encouraged to participate. Top notch!

From curriculum to culture, this school is the best that Ive experienced. They are up to date with the trends in education, their teachers are dedicated, I love their STEM class, and there are plenty of extracurricular activities for all grades.

UPSM Elementary schools is GREAT!!!!!Hard working staff, worm welcoming environment and dedicated administration.

My daughter attends the Elementary School. 2017/2018 will be her 3rd year. I have had nothing but WONDERFUL experiences with the school, staff AND parents. All schools have their issues/challenges and the Elementary School is no different. Ive had challenges, but they havent been SO bad that a phone call or an in-person meeting couldnt solve the problem. Principal Solomon is the BEST Principal I have experienced since my boys were in middle school ages ago in the Detroit Public Schools System. She has an open ear, a kind spirit, and a can-do attitude. That has been MY experience. I am looking forward to my daughter completing elementary school at UPSM. If for ANY reason they change Leadership at UPSM, BEFORE she reaches 5th grade, I would have to think LONG and hard about staying, as I can NOT see any reason they would need to. So with that said UPSM Elementary is a wonderful school, warm inviting environment. The BEST advice I can give is to PARTICIPATE, PARTICIPATE, PARTICIPATE. Our parent meetings are VERY informative.I will be honest and state that when you look on the State website and Great Schools the ratings are painstakingly low, of which the Principal will acknowledge. Before you make a snap judgement talk to the Principal and see what she says about what they are doing to raise those numbers. Also remember, low scores are also dependent on the effort children and parents put into homework, studying, and getting to school on time. School starts at 8am, if you get your child to school at 8:30am or 9am (trust me we see it), your child is missing critical parts of the curriculum that helps to jump start their day. School lets out at 3:20, if you are picking your child up at 2pm, 2:30, he/she is missing critical wrap-up portions of their day to help them do their homework in the evenings. So, I say all that to say, it takes a village to get/keep our kids prepared. How hard are you willing to work to help out.The picture below was at the schools 1st Annual Daddy Daughter Dance!
