If I could give this school no stars I would. They pass out detention and Saturday school for anything. You can get a detention for being 1 minute late to class. The staff is unprofessional. They put on a good show as if they are about the kids in orientation. That all changes once the school year begins. You cant get into talk with teachers because they are to busy blowing the parents off or the people at the office will make it difficult. Because they dont want to talk with you.

If you are a incoming freshman or anyone that plans on transferring to CMA, I highly recommend you change your thoughts about the school immediately. This school is by far the strictest School in Detroit Public Schools. They recently just gave free phones to Freshman ,however if you dont get one, you will not pass algebra at all. You are not allowed to go to the restroom during class. More than 100 people are always in detention everyday and test scores at the school are falling every year. The building is also too small and in very poor condition for high school. The school does not give any freedom at all. It feels like an absolute prison. There arent any fights but that doesnt make up for how stressful the school is. I highly recommend transferring to Cass or King if you qualify. Also keep in mind that this school does not have any fun events and only two field trips throughout the whole school year.Incoming freshman, if you live in CMAs attendance zone I highly recommend attending Henry Ford High School. The school is far better and not as lame.

My daughter received detention on her first day for being to minutes late. Then from then on she would received detention for being a minute or two late coming from the rest room because she wasnt allowed to go during class. I felt as if they were picking on her after while it was ridiculous. Then because of it she had to attend Saturday school which was very inconvenient. Its more like elementary school then high school. I mean really girls need to be able to take care of the personal needs. I felt after the principle received money for count day she was personally trying to run children out. The class size was 60 + in even had 11th in 12th graders mixed in the bunch in were picking on the younger males. I would say dont waste you time. Not very pleasant in if your kid does not catch the bus your going to be pissed with after school detention. In if they do catch the bus in you have a daughter thats a freshman your going to be concerned about her safety since after school detention separates them from the crowd in walking home they become a target for predators.

This is a terrible school, its so strict. The principle is very disrespectful. Not many activites for your child. Also you cant even celebrate your childs birthday. We were trying to surprise someone and the principle just got mad and made up excuses
