Be aware that if your child is physically assaulted and there are no witnesses or significant injury, the Galveston County Sheriffs Office will not pursue charges. The school will do what it can to adjust the learning environment to be safe for your child but the chance still remains your child would be assaulted. Don’t depend on other children to be honest when they witness something that should be reported. Bullying should not be tolerated. The GCSO said there was no evidence of assault without even seeing my son or speaking to the pediatrician who ordered a nasal X-ray because of the punch in the face my son took, while taking a test, by a kid that has obviously impulse control issues. It’s pathetic to teach your child to fight back because the school and GCSO are incompetent at exercising objective discretion of the penal code regarding assault and are rather subjective in their interpretation of a child assaulted on school premises. Be prepared.
