The most memorable part of my years there were the faculty and teachers. The teachers were amazing. When youre there you can feel how they want to be helpful and see you succeed. The teachers and faculty are very encouraging and entertaining as well. They know how to balance staying on task yet finding a way to make things interesting for the student. Not only that but they give very good life stories and advice. Nothing comes for free at school, thats something I can say very clearly. You do have to work for that grade but even if you struggle, you know that if you honestly try hard enough, you should be able to make it through. I would rate 4.5 stars but they dont have that option. Overall the good over powers the bad. The only bad is that this school is very big so it can be hard getting noticed sometimes. Overall the student body were alright.. there are some very good and respectable students and then again there are some that are a bit conceited. If you want to make the right friends I suggest sticking to the ones in the Honors and Ap classes. Stay away from the girls full of drama and the guys who may seem full of themselves. If you stay committed and listen to that advice you should be fine. Class of 2017♡

Awesome school! Class of 2005! This school has changed so much since Ive left, but I will always be a viking. So proud of all the sports teams that have added CIF championship banners to our gym :)

It is a very great highschool and it has mild security but it does not mean it is a bad school to go it is a good place to go to and also vikings rule bears suck p.s. warren at least we are humans that can easily fight bears.

This is the best school ever i miss it so much,they have great teachers and a wonderful staff i will never forget this school the students there are great and i dont think any school can compare to this one .

My daughter was a victim of favoritism by one of the teachers. I spoke to the Assistant Principal and nothing was done. I email the principal back in June 2016 and still waiting his response (7 months later). He never took the time to respond to my complaint. Downey High is very competitive with sports and focuses on favoritism to win every competition. The students morals get affected and the administrators do not care at all. I had to transfer my daughter to another high school for her well being and academic success.

Great school, best move I made to send my son to this school.

I went to this high school and graduated in 2012, and all I have to say is my very best and most favorite and memorable Downey High moment was when I was meeting very cool friends from general ed classes (whoevers one of my peers, like Juliana Rose Sanfelippo, Bonnie Shilling, Candice Potvin, and Erika Madrigal for example. The only disability I have is autism, but other than that, I can speak and listen very well just like most of the general ed students of the school, not like some of the special ed students. Thats right, Im so lucky Im mildly autistic and highly functional. :) ), God those memorable and nostalgia memories is making me wish a time machine is invented so that I can go back in time, remember those memorable and nostalgia memories, and do some missed opportunities I wish Ive done like go from classroom to classroom with any one of them so that I could have been in general ed classes (especially with one of my close friends from now) and be part of the Downey Amigos Club along with the varsity swim and water polo team, basketball, dance, track, and wrestling activities, that way my life wouldve been much better because I DEFINITELY missed out on all of them in high school, and of course, I wouldve undeniably been much more well-behaved and treated positively and very well, which is the way I want to be treated. All of this is to show what a dedicated, imaginative, and inspiring person I am. Nuff said! ^_^

The school speaking in terms of structure and materials is super good. Too many children from other cities. Teachers like everywhere some excellent others nothing to see. More control is needed within the school.
