Such amazing place. Family and friendly for all ages. As a Brazilian I can tell you this school follows the Brazil class schedule. This is the best sport you kid should practice the grow in life.

Took the free introduction class and I was like a dry sponge in a pool taking in as much as I could, I really enjoy i will be attending as much as possible.

Professor Andrew and Coach Chris are Amazing Brazilian Jiu-jitsu instructors! My 5-year old daughter and I train here when we come down from San Diego to visit family. If you are looking for a positive environment that encourages your child to become a humble, confident, physically & mentally strong individual, then this is the place for your child! My daughter always looks forward towards training here and the quality of technique instruction and feedback is something I thoroughly enjoy when I am personally training in their program. This is the best school! Coach Chris and Professor Andrew are top notch instructors that take the time to explain the movements. This is a very family oriented school, not only do I train here but my 7 year old does as well. All of the coaches get my thumbs up!👍

My son was a student of Coach Chris when he was teaching in Whittier. I have never met a more humble individual who was willing to go out of his way to make sure the kids where not only learning martial arts but life lessons. My son has moved on to a different sport but he still talks about Coach Chris!! Thank you for teaching my son to be the best version of himself he could be!!! Coach Chris and his staff are about building people up and not just knocking them down. ☺

The short dark guy who runs this place is despicable. The guy will tell you not to wear muscle shirts, not knowing or caring about your financial situation.If a class is canceled do not dare ask about it, because you will be accused of talking trash. I have never felt unwelcome at a gym where everyone is there to better themselves. Unbelievable that a Gracie Academy would allow someone like Chris to run this place.

I have 3 children who attend Gracie Ibarra in Downey. Its the best place you can go! My kids have learned so much not to mention discipline and better focus. Coach Chris is awesome and the rest of the coaches are pretty cool.

Chris Guzman is beyond helpful and his dedication to its members is apparent in his teaching and coaching! I HIGHLY recommend Gracie Barra Downey. Best place ever! The Coaches are really nice to me. Im a student there and it is like one of my homes! I dont get how people think this is the worst place ever! This is the greatest GYM EVER!!! Coach Chris is the nicest person ever! ( All the other coaches are too) I hope I can stay in jiu- jitsu my whole life, this is one of my new loves! The techniques they teach really help in a real life situation. Best self-defense ever! I give this a thumbs up! When I have kids Im putting them in BJJ and if I can Gracie Barra Downey! The best place to learn jui jitsu, everyday I look forward to attending class... overall the classes are extremely fun & all the coaches Chris, Andrew, Sebastian are always in the great mood which makes for a positive experience, everyday is workout... great way to drop weight with a good diet of course. But mainly my experience in just 2 weeks you learn a lot of positions, submissions, etc. it is Awesome Ive already recommended it to friends and family and now I recommend it to you. TO ALL THE 2 AND 1 STARS. THEYRE LYING ABOUT THEIR REVIEWS, THEY ALWAYS PICK UP THE CALLS MAINLY SEBASTIAN, AND YOU CAN WEAR MUSCLE SHIRTS I WEAR THEM ALL THE TIME, AND HOW CAN YOU CALL CHRIS DESPICABLE THE DUDE IS THE BEST SPARRING PARTNER LOL.

Man Im really glad I found Gracie jiu jistu in Downey. Ive now completed about 3 weeks of training and having tried other places in the past I can say with full confidence that the atmosphere at Gracie jiu jistu is second to none. Coach Andrew and Coach Chris are great teachers and are incredibly helpful and sincere in there pursuit in helping all their students. Beyond the teachers all the students themselves are great at helping one another gain confidence and become better. I cant recommmend Gracie jiu jitsu in Downey enough. If your thinking about learning jiu jistu or just want to get back in to it again You need to check this place out.

What can i say...My new second home. I love it here GB Downey is a fun and happy place for kids and adults. Coach Chris and Professor Andrew are both super professional and welcoming individuals. I have received nothing but positivity and gracious coaching from both of them. When my kids get older i will enroll them hopefully they will enjoy BJJ as much as I do. I am sure with Chris and Andrew teaching them they will. I truly believe that Grace Barra Downey embodys their motto Jiu Jitsu for everyone.

Gracie Barra Downey is not only a friendly enviroment but a safe one. I have been trsining there for 9 months, and i have never felt better! The coaches and staff are great always positive and in a great mood. I liked this gym so much that i introduced my wife to bjj and muy thai,someone who has never had any training and she loved it! She has been going for about 4 months now. Every time i class ends i never want to leave, between the coaches like coach chris and the other students you wont want to leave youll just want to stay and hangout with your friends!

Personally it is an excellent place. And I almost took millet for his behavior and Chris was so kind that he offered to return the money thats great because I went to Brea New in Santa Fe Springs before coming here and they stole my money I think Chris is an honest person and we try to give Time to my son and here I am 😍 and he teaches well the techniques at the same time he is disciplined.
