Choosing Rock U is hands down one of the best life decisions I have ever made. I say life because we are Rock U family for life!! The fact that my son not only became a mind blowing, incredibly talented guitar player is awesome. But what is more important to me, is that he came out of every. single. lesson. for over 11 years with confidence, feeling like he could do ANYTHING. I know that he is a better person today because of the relationship and experiences he had growing up at Rock U. Jared has created a positive, fun, encouraging, safe to be yourself environment, which is a rare thing to find. You can feel it when you walk in the door, and from every single teacher there. We love Rock U!

Rock University is an amazing place to learn to play guitar or drums!The instructors are all talented, but they also have fun personalities and make it easy and fun to learn (I remember taking guitar lessons as a teenager and I would have probably stuck to it if I had an experience like Rock University provides).The coolest thing is how they put on a concert and have their students perform. This isn’t a recital or anything boring like that. It’s a full blown concert with professional sound, lighting, and supporting musicians. It is seriously fun to go to as an attendee.There is a ton of talented kids that take lessons there and it’s a great place to start finding peers to jam with and even form a band.I highly recommend Rock University.

Signing up for guitar lessons with Jared is one of the best investments we have ever made for our son. Not only is Jared himself an amazing player, he’s an amazing teacher and is so good at honing in on what talent your child walks through the door with and pushing it to the next level again and again. We’re lucky to live close by but would make the drive even if it wasn’t convenient- it’s been that great of a self-esteem boost for my son. We would more than recommend Rock University to anyone wanting to grow their musical talents.

Great experience with Rock U! My six year old drummer thrived here. (He started at five years old) Joel is such a great instructor. Hes ultra positive and encouraging. He is totally realistic and a great instructor for a young student. We are lucky to have such a great music program available in the Draper area.

My son has been going to this studio since he was 8 and now he is 16! He has grown so much and I attribute it to the teachers and instruction at this studio! They are amazing!

Three of my kids have taken guitar lessons at Rock U! They have all taken from Jared and some of the other instructors too, but everyone there has made it so fun! Jared pours his heart and soul into his studio and wants everyone to have a great experience. Most of all he cares about his students and his passion for playing the guitar and performing is contagious. It even makes me want to learn. The Rock U concerts are also the best and very professional. The set makes the kids feel like they are at a real rock concert. I look forward to them every year! Jared and his teachers at Rock U are the best! I have had 4 kids go through the program and am currently taking lessons myself. They treat you like family and the skill level of all the instructors is top notch. Watching my kids play and sing on the guitar has been fun to watch! Our two boys got hooked on Rock U the moment they saw kids their own age performing on stage at Rock U’s annual live concert. We signed them up for lessons with Jared and it was a match made in heaven. Two years later, Rock U is like a second home for us. Our boys have formed their own two-man band and perform all over at restaurants, festivals and parties. Through it all, the Rock U staff has been amazingly supportive and encouraging, just as they are with every student. This is an inspiring, uplifting, place to learn music. Our boys are always excited for their lesson time with Jared. He keeps it fun, and his teaching goes well beyond guitar fundaments. As a parent, I am grateful that we found Rock U and I’m looking forward to many years to come!

Our family LOVES Rock U! My boys have never loved their music lessons more than when we started going here. Each year they look forward to performing at Rock U Live - where they get to feel like real rock stars! Not only do they enjoy their individual lessons, but the band classes are awesome too! All three of my kids go to Rock University. One takes guitar, one sings and one plays the drums. We have had such an incredible experience working with them. Rock University is the absolute best place for kids to learn guitar, voice, drums, and piano! They make it fun from the very beginning for the kids and their method helps the kids get better by learning to play great songs right away. We LOVE Rock University!! Highly recommend it!! It has such a positive environment. My daughters lesson time is her favorite time of the week!! We love her teacher Kylie! I never ever have to beg her to go!! She loves it and is improving greatly in her singing ability. The staff and teachers at Rock U are very passionate about what they do and it shows. I am always amazed at the talent at the concert each year and also at the work and effort that goes into making this concert an experience the kids will love.

My son Tate has been taking lessons at Rock University for 3 years. We drive 30 minutes to get there each Tuesday, but I’d drive an hour each way in order for him to get the Rock U experience. He has had a few teachers over the years and they all have given him proper direction and freedom to be who he wants to be as an artist. My son’s passion for music has been inspired through his one on one lessons at Rock U. Besides incredible guitar instruction, they offer voice, piano and drum lessons at their Draper studio. It’s a family atmosphere and the positive culture that Jared and staff have created is apparent from the moment you walk in.They also host a great event each May called Rock U Live where students from all levels (and ages) of the program are able to perform in front of a crowd. It is a top notch experience for all involved and a wonderful opportunity for the students to get some stage time under the bright lights! Rock University has given Tate not only the tools to be successful in his pursuit of music, but more importantly the confidence and other life skills that he will use throughout his life!

Rock U, Rocks!! Everyone is so talented and invested in helping the students learn and progress. My kids and I have been taking for years now. We continue to progress and have loved the process. It has truly been a blast from the very first lesson. If you are taking guitar lessons there is really no better option.

My boys have taken from Jared and the Rock U family for about 6 years. We Love these guys!! Jared has created a creative and safe learning environment. My boys have been able to choose popular songs they want to learn while still learning the guitar fundamentals. Jared increases the complexity of the songs as their skills increase. At each end of the year they put on a serious concert for each kid to showcase what they have learned. I tear up each time my boys take the stage! They can read guitar music, and hear songs and pick out the tunes because they have learned the appropriate chords. Jared balances the friendly positive environment with pushing them to do their best. We are so happy here!! They fill up fast so get on their list. You won’t regret it!

As a grown adult - I went from zero musical background or experience to learning the guitar and playing in a concert within one year. The program Jared designed reminds me of a martial arts philosophy where he teaches you small techniques that you continually build and gain confidence. With 15 minutes of practice per day (plus more as you learn and enjoy more), you will learn the songs you want to learn.Learning the guitar not only taught me how to play the guitar, it also applied to life and starting a business. Start small, work hard at it and there will be ups and downs but keep going. Play when you do not want to play and play longer when you really want to play. Keep playing and you will not want to stop.I recommend this program and school to anyone and any age. The teachers are nice, approachable and the atmosphere in the studio is positive and a good place to be.

We are huge fans of Rock University. My oldest daughter started taking lessons a few years ago and has loved it. We now currently have 3 out of our 4 children taking lessons at Rock University and they all love playing guitar. Nelson has been an awesome teacher sharing his love and musical talent with my kids. Plus the guitar recital/rock concerts are by far the best recitals I have been to. We look forward to them every spring.

Rock University is an amazing place. Three of my children have become musicians under owner Jared Barney’s extremely capable and inspiring instruction. My four children have been taking lessons at Rock University for more than 4 years now and it has been a great learning experience for our family. Rock U is a phenomenal studio! My son started guitar lessons about 3 years ago and we have had a 5 star experience from the beginning. Hannah was his first teacher at Rock University and she was outstanding. I loved how she would work off of the songs he chose to teach him guitar skills, including singing as well. After spending a year playing the acoustic with Hannah, he started taking lessons from Jared to work on his electric guitar skills. Jared is simply the best of the best. He is completely dedicated to his students. He quickly noticed my sons interest in writing music and playing with a band, then began teaching him the ropes of song writing, and has hooked him up with his first band as well. Jared has a genuine interest in his students and it creates an incredible amount of confidence in them. Each year I am amazed at how Jared and his teachers get hundreds of students to sing and play live in front of a huge crowd at RockULive. It is a spectacular event and provides kids with an opportunity unlike any other. I feel so indebted to Jared and Rock University for the incredible experience they have provided to my son. The RockU Family is one of a kind.

Rock University Guitar Studio is awesome! All 5 of my kids have been or are enrolled in Rock U and they all love it so much! The teaching style and method is so great and i’d definitely recommend taking here if you’re looking for a fun environment and well-teaching Guitar Studio!

Best Guitar School in the State . Cant say enough about the program. Kids learn beyond guitar skills, they grow in confidence which helps them to overcome hard things and this in turn has a positive impact on other aspects of their life. The kids especially love the 3 day annual concert where they all get to perform in front of a huge audience. Would recommend to anyone!

I worked at Rock University for over 5 years. Jared Barney is the best there is in the business. He treats all the students at Rock University like family. He loves what he does, and it sure comes through at the studio. The guitar method is proven, and I have seen hundreds of people of all ages rise to whatever skill level they wanted, and find a passion for music and the guitar by following Jareds simple curriculum.
