Jiu Jitsu isnt just a sport or martial art... its an investment in the future. My daughters are growing up with a clear understanding of what it takes to build strength, respect, and community... theyre learning what it takes to be true leaders. Bonus: No one is going to f#*! with them (without regretting it). Endless gratitude, Professor Thiago!!! #HOAisfamily

Something that really stands out about HOA is that the other members truly become part of your family. My son and I have been members for the past (2?) years and feel like the connections we have made are life-lasting. From the kids classes to open mat, everyone has each others backs and encourages each other to learn and grow.

Professor Thiago is a gifted teacher who truly cares about his students. You’ll feel welcome from the minute you walk in the door. My teenager takes classes here and I couldn’t be happier. Lots of classes that work for anyone’s schedule, accomplished athletes who are also wonderful teachers. I’m so glad to have found this place!

I was new to the material arts this year. I found a home at House of Arts! The atmosphere is very welcoming to all ages and belt levels. Also professor Thiago does a amazing job mentoring and teaching. He pushing you to improve everyday you step onto the mat. House of Arts allows me to take 2-3 days out of my college week to further my learning in a unique and rewarding way. It’s a amazing place to step out of your comfort zone.

I feel lucky to have found thus local gem. My little guy (6 years old) loves the opportunity to come here, work hard, learn important skills and lessons, and use some energy. We love the structure of being able to go nightly (5 - 6). Tiago is his favorite instructor but the other fellas who teach are also so patient, encouraging, and inspiring. This place is special and the community is so welcoming and helpful.

I wanted a gym with world-class professor, motivated training partners, and a welcoming environment; I found all of that and so much more at House of Arts. Thiagos love of BJJ is contagious. Hes able to project his attention to detail onto his students with patience and encouragement. I can only describe the team as a family, but one that welcomes new members with open arms. Im always excited to train at House of Arts, and I never leave without learning something new. Whether youre experienced or a beginner, if youre searching for somewhere to train, look no further. I can say with confidence you will not find a better coach, team, or gym than the family at House of Arts.

Weve been taking our now 5 year old (started @ 4). We noticed an immediate improvement in discipline and active listening skills. Its a great family environment with siblings, parents and friends all training together. The hours and instruction are 2nd to none. Kids and adults could legitimately train 7 days a week if they wanted. The kids and adults all get real life self defense skills in a fun and engaging way. I highly recommend HOA to beginners and veterans.

I just walked past this facility and no one, no one was wearing a mask. The children and instructor were not social distancing and not wearing a mask. You could clearly see everyone was careless inside. I even watched a mother walk out, talking on her cell phone and she was not wearing a mask either. I can only imagine all the germs being spread inside at a time of a pandemic. Very irresponsible.

House or arts is not just a gym its a family. We encourage each other on and off the mats. HOA has changed my life and that of my husband. You will find that is the case for almost everyone here. Thiago is not just an instructor he is a mentor. He give everyone that comes to the gym everything he can. If you are hungry for knowledge you will leave full just after one class. A gym is not just about the instructor its also about the atmosphere I feel welcome by all the guys and higher belts. The great thing is that there is large amount of women and we are able to roll with each other not just with the guys. We are a family.

When I first came to House of Arts, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was immediately greeted by the owner, Thiago. He introduced me to the class, who was extremely welcoming and helpful.Almost a year later not only am I a member, but my husband and son are as well! The environment is wonderful, and has something to provide for anyone, from those looking to take up BJJ from a defense perspective to those looking to compete, to children looking for a fun and engaging entertainment, to moms wanting to get stronger and more confident. House of Arts is not only place for anyone in the family, but it feels like a family as well.

Thiago is very welcoming and has created an atmosphere that has a good balance between strength and respect. The students are very friendly, but train hard. I would recommend this school to anyone in the area if you are looking to improve your self-defense, get in shape, or want to challenge yourself with learning a practical martial art.

I was 43 years old when I called Thiago at the House of Arts and asked if I was too old to start training Jiujitsu. He told me that you are never too old. My first day I was very nervous walking through that door but Thiago and all his students made me feel so welcome that I felt like I belonged there. It is a great place to train and there is something special about this place, a real good environment, the only regret I have is that I waited so long to call.

I’ve been training jiujitsu for about 10 years now and the past three years have been at House of Arts. In these 10 years, I’ve been to a lot of academies all over the world. When you’ve been a part of something for as long as I have you truly understand what right looks like. House of arts is a top notch Academy with a dedicated, humble, professional and friendly instructor/owner, Tiago Thomaz. Tiago is a wealth of knowledge and understands the aspects of jujitsu being the street, the art and the sport. My fellow students have become a second family to me. We are all constantly helping to advance each other in jiujitsu and personal development. I highly recommend House of arts for anyone looking to get into the sport/lifestyle or trying to find a new academy.

Martial Arts academy which specializes in Jiujitsu taught by Professor Thiago Thomaz. Professor Thomaz is a highly trained martial arts practitioner who’s passion for the art is a direct reflection on his school and pupils. Classes range from beginner to advanced and the students can be described best as an extended family. I’m addition to Jiujitsu there is also Judo, Muay Thai, MMA and striking. Won’t find a better atmosphere anywhere.

Thiago is extremely dedicated to his students and his craft, which makes personal training with him a one-of-a-kind experience. I started out with personal training but quickly took advantage of other classes offered such as Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (gi and no gi). I was very nervous to train in front of a large group of people but everyone is very welcoming, eager to help you learn, and makes you feel at home. House of Arts is a fantastic place to learn a new skill, meet some new friends, and truly be part of a fitness family. Highly recommend!

More than I ever expected for my son. House of Arts and the owner/operator Thiago have welcomed my son and gave him confidence and a purpose. HOA is a family which teaches the art of jiu Jitsu as well as self discipline, respect and confidence in oneself. My son has lost 15 pounds since he joined this group. I not only see the transformation in him physically but in his self esteem and respect to himself and others. He and I have a deeper relationship, all due to HOA and the dedicated owner who really cares about each of his students. A rare find in a studio! Highly recommend!

I walked into HOA out of shape, overweight, and depressed. Within the first two months I had lost almost 30 lbs. Along with the weight loss came a new sense of confidence and pride that was instilled by Thiago and the entire HOA family. From the minute I walked in the gym I was treated as family. Being new to the area I don’t have many friends here but I definitely have family now. I can’t express how much love and gratitude I have for everyone there. Give jiu jitsu a try! It could change your life!

House of Arts Brazilian Jiu jitsu has been like a second home for me. It is a great BJJ school with all levels of practitioners. You can find people training, for health & fitness, competition and self defense. I started with Thiago over 2 years ago with lots of outside commitments. Thiago worked with me to make sure I would still progress and keep me on track. If you live in the Drexel Hill, Havertown, Delaware County area, you should stop in and check out the team. Put yourself in the right environment and you will grow.

Thiago is a great professor for what he does. When I first walked through the door to go into HOA I knew I was going to be challenged by other Jiu Jitsu practitioners and learn from them as I progressed. When June came by I became a one stripe white belt and by this December I am already a three stripe white belt. If it wasn’t for Thiago’s guidance and knowledge I wouldn’t be where I am now. If you’re looking to also compete in bjj he will make sure you are ready mentally and physically. Thiago gives the best advice when you need it the most and encourages everyone to get better on the mats. The money you are spending for this sport can be expensive but if you commit to coming in and learning more about Jiu Jitsu then it is worth every single penny. Overall I couldn’t ask for a better professor like Thiago, no matter what skill level or belt you are he treats everyone with respect and honor, OSS.

Joining the House of Arts family is the best decision I have made for myself in a very long time. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew I found a place that I would be committed to for a long time to come.Professor Thiago not only possesses a deep knowledge, love and passion for Jiu Jitsu, but he transfers that passion and energy to all his students at every class. He cares so deeply about each of his students and their personal success, whatever their goals may be. He has created a family at House of Arts. Everyone who trains here is so welcoming and supportive of each other. As someone brand new to the sport, I was very anxious when I first started coming to classes. However, all of the men and women I have trained with have went out of their way to make me feel comfortable, to answer my questions, to provide me advice and feedback, and offer me their free time. I have learned so much in such a short time, and I truly look forward to each day of training. In addition to Jiu Jitsu, House of Arts offers Judo and MMA and the Professors of these classes are top notch and just as welcoming. They all make a new person feel right at home and throw you right into the mix.The gym is clean and professional, and the schedule is diverse. There are so many opportunities to train throughout the week with convenient day and evening classes that can fit into anyone’s busy lifestyle.Whether you are looking for competitive sport, self-defense, or to improve your fitness and healthy lifestyle, Professor Thiago and all the students here will help you and push you to achieve your goals; and you will meet some great friends along the way.

I was fortunate enough to find House Of Arts two years ago. A couple of great guys I know were attending and I knew they would never affiliate themselves with any place that wasnt full of quality people. Those quality people quickly become family when you come to HOA. Every time I walk through the door Im surrounded by some of the best people Ive ever met. These athletes have become family on and off the mats, all thanks to the loving and professional attitude that Thiago portrays. His passion for Jiu Jitsu and family is obvious from the moment you meet him. It shows in his attitude, his teaching, and his facility. The gym is clean and everything about it is top notch. Whether youre looking for your first class or youve been in the game for a long time and want a challenging but fun place to roll, this is where you want to be. Supplement with Lous Judo classes, Vinnys MMA, and Kalle’s Muay Thai instruction and youre sure to become a much better fighter and person. Stop in and try a few classes. You won’t be disappointed.

I came to Prof Thiago and HOA while I was going through some serious life changes and needed to get back on the mats. I knew some of the students from before and every time I was in their presence they were always so friendly, nice and supportive - once I went to HOA I saw how every one of the people there are just like they were. For me it is a new environment after a long time and change isn’t always easy. However, this was one of the easiest transitions I’ve ever made. This is an environment where I am going to thrive and feel I am going to truly change my jiu jitsu for the best because of the atmosphere here. Discipline, respect, caring for one another and passion for this art are a few of the qualities I admire about Prof Thiago and his students here. Not one person ever wants to see another fail on or off the mats. It is truly an honor to be a part of the team/family at HOA Jiu Jitsu and I thank you so much. OSS

I moved to Philadelphia over the Summer and needed a new gym to train at. I tried many gyms, even a gym that would have kept me with my team at the time. There was nothing “wrong” with these gyms, but I knew I wanted to keep trying other places. Under strong recommendation of many people, I made the trek to HOA in Drexel Hill and I’m glad I did. The atmosphere is welcoming, yet maintains respect and professionalism. Thiago is an incredible instructor, always there to help anyone. And the students are just as great- consistent and respectful of their instructor and peers. The gym also hosts a lot of females (I think almost 30%) and even better, nourishes and encourages those females in their bjj/martial arts training. My jiu jitsu has improved, but even better, my experience with jiu jitsu overall has excelled because of HOA.

Ive only met a few people in my life that were as authentic as my instructor, Thiago. Ive been going to the House Of Arts for over a month and I have no complaints with the academy so far. Its hard to find an academy that will host experts on multiple occasions every month such as Daniel Tavares to talk directly to us and even make Jiu Jitsu a small fraction of who you are. Highly recommended.
