I used to be a student here, and I did not enjoy my experience very much. The gifted/accelerated program at DMS is good (I was in all gifted classes), however the regular program could use improvement.Also, I noticed a considerable amount of violence throughout my three years. This did NOT make me feel safe at the school. Rules were placed so that violence wouldnt be an issue. However, I (along with many other students) never participated in violent acts, yet I was still told to abide rules that were unfair to ME.Also, administration never listened to the voice of the students. I never felt in touch with ANY of the administrators. I never felt that the principal or even the VP ever took the students thoughts into consideration- they were REALLY out-of-touch with the student body. I think that is where the true issue lies.Bottom line is- If you are a gifted student, Duluth Middle is not a bad school. My gifted teachers were very caring and they did do whatever was necessary to help their students. However, if you are not in the gifted program, the administration is really unfair and the rules are not understandable.

I went to Duluth Middle for all my three year of middle school and had a good experience. Most of the teachers were great although there are always going to be that few that werent. I liked the fact that they would reward you for doing something good like giving you walk n talks and movie days. This middle school also has a great fine arts program. I was in chorus for three years and had a wonderful time. The only thing I didnt like about Duluth Middle was that some of the teachers would be really lazy. All they would do is stare at their laptop the entire time and give is a worksheet. This really had me struggling especially since this teacher was teaching one of my worst subjects. However the good thing it taught was how to self study and how to be independent and to learn by myself. So other than a few minor problems, I believe that Duluth Middle is a great school and that it really helps your transition to highschool.

I was in stem and cannot speak for everyone else but I like the school. All the rotations and things people are criticizing the school for help keep order. Also the reason people call probe better is because they are jealous, and jealousy is rooted in materialism and this means that if you think probe is better off you should examine what you have. Also the new programs like stem are not unstable they are inventive and apparently a lot of the previous review-Ees dont like

This place is mk, but uh some kids are pains and have no interest in learning. Fights break out for no radical reason ( Big Aaliah). Other than that I like the teachers who( for the most part) are great. Learning here is fun.

My grandson has had a fantastic experience at Duluth Middle. His teachers go above and beyond all expectations to assure his success.He gets up each morning eager to go to school.

In the school there a lot of pizza then more pizza and more pizza and there are a lot of kids that there not in two learning kids say that this place is boring and some people are not boring but what makes the school fun is fiel trips and then there some nice people and yeah im in this school but im not telling who am i and sorry for this typing im to lazy to fix this but umm yeah this school is a bit funny but learning is soooo boring the school is not that funny u get home at like 5 or at 4 pm then u dont get eny time to do what u want to do at home and yeah thats the part thats boring soo yeah

Two of my children attended this school. I tutored the students for a year and served other organizations the directly served the school and students. I worked with the students and staff. The students are treated like prisoners. They act out constantly and are very disrespectful. I cant say which is the cause and the effect. The teachers have very little positive to say about students, parents and other faculty when they think no one else is listening. Deborah Fusi is out of touch with the community. She will not advocate for children or parents if it puts her staff at risk. Chris Tornese is arrogant and petty.

It was kind of ok...Many students are mean to me and some of them are nice, well I like this school by the way.

I am an 8th grade prob student with good grades, Not great but good, and 1st clarinet in the band. In my experience if you want to have a good time at this school i suggest you work to get into the probe program. That place has excellent teachers who work really hard to get you ready for high school. When i came to this school i was in reg-ed with ok grades, no through hard work im in all advanced classes. Thing is if you stay in reg-ed, yes you have to deal with a bit more rude behavior, but that does not mean you cant have a good time. Quite a few of these comments from other students are just to bring the rating down, but if you or your children work hard you will have a good time at this school.

As a student, the school had many flaws, the system itself was still in a testing stage, not stable. The classes were overwhelming with projects, alone they would be fine, but the teachers forget that there are 4 classes in total. their improved changes have not improved much and actually made some things worse, grade reports were sent early in the beginnings of units, making them seem bad and children would be punished, work would be too much for some students, not to mention the addition of their new policies, silent homeroom, rotations, and other helps. The teachers have the right idea, and some of it is not their fault, but they were thinking too much on if they could, rather than if they should. They focused on cramming all the information into the students and getting all the education done, but they need to realize that they have to make the students willing to actually listen. I walk down the hallways and most students seem as if they dont give a care in the world. So if teachers could find a way to get the students to actually want to learn, and changed the policies so that it feels like the environment of a school, not a prison. It would be much better.

Honestly Im not trying to be rude. but somethings at this school need to change. first off the probe kids are automatically better than everyone... or thats what they think second off we are supposed to be aloud to sit wherever we want on this team but they wont let us. so many students have tried to email or get in touch with an ap or the principle, but they were ignored. these teachers seriously need to change the way they treat students. i mean theres is a reason why it only has 3 stars...

Really good teachers. I loved 6th grade and grew then, and 7th grade is just as good.

I am in 7th grade. 6th grade was great we got to sit with our friends at lunch. Not this year. We have to walk in circles like a prison. We have to sit with our class. I hope 8th grade will be different

It was an okay school.. Just make sure your childs homework is done and correct.. My mother went into the hospital that year so my life was a wreck. The teachers were at rude to me and tried to fail me because I would cry in class while thiking about my mother. But the students there would bully me because I had acne and I was white. I did make a lot of good friends thought. Most of the teachers I had for 6th grade that year. Lemme tell you who to watch out for. Mrs.young- all she does is give your child work and she doesnt actually teach them. Mrs Herbert- all shell do is yell and do the same thing every week. Mrs. Lee- shes okay.. New teacher to the school. Mrs. Shaw- very rude science teacher. I hope you think twice about this school..
