Just graduated and absolutely loved my experience. COVID popped up halfway through my program but the school seemed to do a good job of adapting. The majority of the instructors are very knowledgeable and have lots of experience. I have interviews setup with the airlines next week and Pratt in 2 weeks. Its unfortunate to see some of the negative stuff. The training is definitely not for everyone but its a good school. There are some that get dropped and disgruntled. I would recommend this school if you are hands-on and want a career in aviation maintenance.

Ive been at the Georgia campus for almost 20 months completing AMT and the Associates Degree programs. I have loved my time here. Some of these reviews are so far off. Its an investment. You get what you pay for. Ask Delta techs that come in to speak about AIM. This is one of the best if you ask those that would know working in aviation. Embry and other top aviation schools were also considered. Heck, the recent grads that I keep in contact with are making more $ than most college graduates. Delta pays 6 figures after 7 years as an AMT. I appreciate the staff and Instructors at AIM. I do feel that Im prepared for my career choice.

My experience with The Aviation Institute of Maintenance-Duluth has become a catastrophe. I initially visited AIM to acquire info about AIM with aspirations of someday becoming a student/graduate because I couldnt afford the $49K tuition cost. After meeting 3 individuals; VA Liaison, & 2 registrars, I was provided with great news. I was informed by the VA Liaison Latifah Aameen, that I withheld 24.8 months of student education benefits provided by my military service that were available for use & will be used for my costs of tuition. All staff were very determined to help me with registration. My student registration was completed within a few hours before the staff ended their day. I was extremely grateful of the help received by the VA liaison, the two registrars. Class began for me 05/10/21, & I was a student with AIM for 2months, & withdrew from AIM. I received a letter confirmation from the Department of Veteran Affairs stating that my student benefit eligibility had been terminated, & has been hence 01/2021. I retrieved a balance sheet from the Bursar Curtis Alan of Aim, & after further looking into my student balances we noticed that my mentioned student education benefits by the VA liaison from military service were in fact NOT being utilized on my behalf, but FAFSA was being deducted from me on good faith incase I didnt pay tuition. After contacting the Department of Veteran Affairs & confirming the letter communication received, I also contacted the AIM VA Liaison with my concern of balances accrued. It was brought to my attention by Rep. Bryan Terry that the balances accrued by me sitting in 2 classes of instruction without any knowledge of my VA student benefit eligibility being terminated hence 01/2021 were of my fault, & that I now owe said balances. Ive contacted the Student Board of Education, as Im certain theyll solve this matter. -Doréanoe E

I was a student here for over 2 years in both aviation maintenance and avionics. It provided the exact training that I signed up for and prepared me for a career in aviation maintenance. I was hired into a great position right out of school after obtaining my license and made more than most college graduates out of college after two years of training. The equipment and tools were sufficient and most of the instructors were very knowledgeable. Sure there a few that could improve as well. Some of these reviews on equipment are funny. What do they expect- have a brand new Boeing 777 that the students get to tear down and repair every 5 weeks? Thats not reality in a school environment. AIM trained and prepared me for aviation maintenance and it doesnt have to be on brand new aircraft or engine every 5 weeks. Aviation is aviation whether it is brand new or aged equipment. Quit complaining and get the most out of this training and get your license and start what has been a great career for me thus far. Its an investment into your future and sometimes that can be costly initially. Good luck and I recommend this school and training.

I absolutely love going to school here. I attended Embry Riddle in the past and toured the two state schools. It was going to take 5 years or so to complete at one of them due to low enrollment. Embry was pretty good and a little more expensive but this place has much better equipment. They just brought an airworthy Learjet that is really cool. Most of the instructors and staff do a great job in training and service. There are some that appear rough around the edges being a mechanic all their life but overall great experience. I only have 3 more months to graduate and then my license and then to the airlines somewhere.

The only decent people in the school are the instructors. There are some people in the office side of the campus that need to get checked or fired; from my experience they are either rude, condescending or flat out patronizing. If youre paying about 2,500 a month for this school out of pocket or with loans, youd expect better. The almost $45k youre paying for this measly license might not get you those kind of returns when you get out into the field, but its the only game in town.Id only recommend this to people who qualify for the GI bill.

As it relates to employment, do not apply here even if you are qualified (with multiple degrees). Mr. Lewis and his colleague interviewed me in December and stated that if I didn’t get a callback, they have decided to move forward with another candidate. I understood this and was glad that I received a timeframe. In January, I received a call asking if I was still interested in the position and that they saw my resume on indeed. I advised them that I was still interested but was slightly confused whether this was a second interview, as I just completed an interview the previous month. Mr. Lee stated that he would give me a call for a second interview, which I knew was a lie because he didn’t even remember that he interviewed me a month before. Getting someone’s hopes up during such turbulent times as these is completely unnecessary. If this is how unorganized things are in the beginning stages it can’t be any better as a full time employee.

Anyone who wants to attend this school, just know that you can obtain almost all the books online. I highly advise people to ask why their aircraft look like they were literally pulled from the junk yard. How is any student supposed to take the aviation field seriously if the examples are the lowest of the low. Then there are the tools. Files with no handles, rachets that dont catch, and test stands that are held together with duct tape. Some instructors are literal gold with the knowledge they have, and are very good an conveying their knowledge to the student; however, they are few and far between. I have encountered 3 or 4 instructors like this. Most of the others are either bad communicators, or are placed in a classroom to instruct students on subject matters that they themselves have limited experience in. Im not saying that they cant teach it, but I think its just common sense that someone who worked on sheet metal for years in the field would not be the best suited to teach (for example) a class on aircraft fabric coverings. The take away from all of this is keep your eyes open and ask questions. This school tries to pull you in quickly, and at the same time try to convince you that this is the best option and that youre gonna have a great experience. Do not be fooled! Dont make my same mistake. The truth is, if you are passionate about aviation join the military. They have much stricter standards, and you will receive better instruction then you would ever here.

I am at the Duluth, GA campus. To me they have poor communication and execution between instructors. It does not seem to be very well organized. Materials often give wrong answers as correct, and correct answers as wrong. This makes it very confusing come test time. Coordinators and some instructors are condescending, and often are the ones that give bad info or just dont seem to actually know much in general. There are good instructors here, and some genuinely care and want to teach you. That being said, I have learned a few things here and there, and still have a lot to learn. I was a UH-60 M mechanic for the army, so I have some aircraft knowledge already. Like I said though, I have a lot to learn, otherwise I would just study on my own and test out. If you have a basic knowledge and experience, just study on your own time and take the test.

The instructors Ive had are phenomenal. If you have a passion for aviation and want to ask questions they will always support you the best they can and go above and beyond. The night staff is fantastic . I see students who dont know anything and students who know it all. If youre not the type who is passionate about aviation then dont waste your time and throw yourself into debt . HOWEVER, if you are passionate and want to learn to be an aircraft mechanic. These instructors will teach you everything you need to know and more. Never be afraid to ask a question, and be proud of yourself for choosing this industry.

A lot of the complaints Im seeing come from people that have no idea what theyre talking about. An A&P wont magically get you a job. Their financial aid department has done nothing but good things for me and my family. Everything has been the most smooth process possible. Ive already had 10 years of Maintenance experience prior to this (military) so I cant speak from a complete newbies perspective, but the school is enough to get you what you need and the instructors are fantastic.Oh, and there is a hangar with aircraft at this school. Dont listen to comments saying there arent.

I worked at this school. It’s a private school (corporate owned) and expensive. If you want to be a certified Aircraft Mechanic, this is the best place to get certified in the state of Georgia – hands down. Only a high-school diploma (+financial aid/money) is required to attend – must be willing to learn. None of the instructors are teachers, they are certified/able mechanics straight out of the field and are simply passing along their tradecraft. The FAA has required the instructors to pass along their personal knowledge, and the school requires instructors to train the students to pass the certification exams. 3 practice exams are required as part of graduation. Additionally, 3 FAA Exams AND time in school are required to be fully certified as an Aircraft Mechanic. The facility is currently (7/20/2015) a very well maintained and a secure environment.Insider information, don’t tell anyone. Staff turnover is high due to the corporate environment out of Virginia wanting to make bank, and that affects student loans. Admissions people don’t know about financial-aid, see the financial aid people before signing on the dotted line to understand what this adventure will cost you, and when! It’s a private school and student complaints have a great deal of force on the school. Previous military aircraft experience can exempt time/classes, ask about it. Ask any instructor at any time about your odds of successfully graduating and they will likely be very honest with you.Advice: Again, the instructors are not teachers, get close to them and learn about their field of aviation. Find out their specialty and ask them about it. Every instructor did something different in the field, and that is what you want to learn from them. There are student cliques, like high school, but, very different – make friends get phone numbers, it’s a lifetime career and successful students WILL see each other later on the job. There IS a brass ring at the end of this school, and your grasp on that ring will be tested upon graduation. 6 times. Summary: Do the work and learn, or go home early and save the money.

Dont go here please, find another option. Currently attending, Im about a little over a year done with my course. This place is awful for the money you are spending. Your money is best used somewhere else. Hardly any shop time, so dont listen to the administration, they are used car sales man, THATS IT!! This is probably at best a $25000.00 program. Such a rip off. The hanger is just filled with a grave yard of planes that you hardly get to work on. Im currently in class now writing this because we arent doing anything. Most classes you get 2 papers to complete when you walk in. Once done you sit in class without a thing to do for 3 hours. I would love to spend that time in the hanger but this course isnt set up that way. Tools they let you use are old, hardware is reused, wifi doesnt work, most instructors dont care about your well being, I could go on and on. Dont attend and dont listen to the lies they tell you about mostly shop time. Oh and one more thing, if you do end up coming here do not buy the Lenovo laptops they offer you. They are $300 laptops, which they sell to you for $600 to turn a profit. This place is a joke. Im locked in now, so Im just gonna ride it out but you have been warned.

The school doesnt care if you get your license because it is the responsibility of the students to care. If you are lazy and dont want to put forth much effort then dont attend this school. They have bent over backwards for my husband because they know he actually has a future in aviation and is not there just to get a job. When he asks for help they trip over themselves to give it. The school is tough and they weed out the ones who shouldnt be there. Not everyone can be a doctor, lawyer, athlete, etc. The same holds true for aviation. Only consider this school if you are serious.

All reservists and national guard be advised. They wont kick you out of school for missing school in order to attend drill or orders but you will be counted absent from class. This means a lot of deficiency work. In my case an essay at 400 words and a ten minute presentation per hour missed. So one day for me would be 3200 word essay (on dope and fabric). Some instructors are knowledgeable and some are not IE one of my instructors repeatedly told us the defuser was the hotest part of a turbine engine (guess he missed introduction into power plant) many of the finals have questions on them that admittedly were never covered in the curriculum. The staff are nice though. The VA rep and enrollment staff were extremely helpful. Most of the instructors try their best but a lot of them are in and out to another job leading to some instructors not being at all familiar with the curriculum.

I am currently a student, and reading all of the negative reviews really made me chuckle. First of all, if YOU are not serious about YOUR education, career, or life direction it does NOT matter what school you go to. Secondly, all the negative feedbacks throwing blame on admin, teachers, timing out, being stuck with payments, here are some reality checks:1. Why didnt you read your contracts? 2.Grow up and take responsibility for your decisions (including not doing adequate amount of research on Financial Aid). 3. You are given a set amount of hours you can miss every term--if you did not use those hours wisely TOUGH...in this case there really was a price to be paid for your negligence. 4.This is not grade school, teachers at the school are not paid to give you high fives and gold stars ...they are paid to give you a general understanding of this field and prepare you for the Oral and Practical. Oh and just to clarify, the majority of my instructors have all been exceptional, passionate, honest, and very attentive to the needs of their students.Thirdly, to the person who said you HAVE to buy 20k worth of Snap on Tools...I dont know what is a bigger tragedy, the fact you spent 20k and then blame it on the school/peer pressure, or that the number your throwing out there is ridiculous- if you bought 20k worth of tools that means you only spent about 8-10k max since Snap On offers huge student discounts--forgive me if Im wrong but I am guessing you took it out on credit and cant seem to find a use for them.OHHHH and yes they have some people who endorse Snap On, but you are also advised to spend you money wisely and NOT just buy Snap On kits unless you plan on going into general aviation, or want to build your toolbox...NO ONE FORCED YOU TO BUY IT BECAUSE NO ONE FORCED YOU TO SIGN FOR IT. So No sir, you did not HAVE to buy Snap On, YOU chose to buy Snap On...but enjoy your lifetime warranty on them :) :)And now for my personal opinion of the school... I love it and hate it all in one breath. It is a trade school, I came in knowing nothing about how aircraft really function and now, 3 months shy of graduation I am confident that I am and will be an amazing AMTE. It takes patience and dedication to get through AIM... you will encounter some instructors that do not adhere to your learning style but do not become discouraged...you can take something away from each instructor. I was very disappointed with the Avionics courses, and feel like I threw away 6 months of my life, this disappointment had nothing to do with the instructors but with how limited and disorganized the program was at the time i took it. I was a day student for the beginning portion of the courses and then switched to night shift...It is two different cultures. Day Shift tends to be a younger crowd, and for some reason trouble seems to follow day shift. Night Shift is a bit more relaxed, and the population tends to be more mature. As a female I only had issues when I was on Day Shift, nothing major just sandwich/kitchen jokes here and there. Overall I have been enjoying my experience at AIM, I feel it is a good school filled with many people who DO care about the well being of its students. Make sure you read over every document, if you do not understand something ASK, and before signing up, have a list of questions ready to go, and do your research-look up job possibilities and salary before you even visit the school, be 110% sure this is what you want- do not waste your time and do not waste the schools time your either in or out...Timing out should never be an option.More often than not students who time out never graduate...so again be 110% sure this is what you want...plan ahead, adjust your schedule, talk to your parents/spouse do everything you can on your end to not timeout. Take your exams ASAP, do not put off studying. Hopefully this post will help you make your decision. Best of Luck!
