Wonderful meals for those who appreciate high quality, made from scratch, meticulously prepared food. Having grown up in Mexico and learning to cook from my mom and her mom, it’s hard to please my picky palate, but Chef John knocked it out of the park! Currently obsessed with all the soups - must try the Classic Chicken Corn and the Pozole! An added plus for some of us - many marked options that are GF (celiac safe).

If it were an option, I would decorate my “Season to Taste” experience with a thousand stars! Chef John not only coached us through the preparation of amazing meals, but he transforms the way we approach food in general. Yes, we all have our favorite meals and flavors which are still relevant. Chef John guides you out of your comfort zone into a new found glory of “in house” fine dining. After our classes with Chef John, we realized that how much more we could do with what have already in our fridge and cabinets. Flavorful, rich food is NOT synonymous with expensive taste! We learned how to enhance recipes that we currently utilize, proper knife skills, proper flavor combinations, and MUCH more. The star of the show may be the food, but the time spent with Chef John was equally as valuable. From the minute Chef John walked into our home, it felt as though we were having a dinner party with friends. His positive outlook on cooking and life fills the kitchen with light! As they say “you are what you eat”...in this case I’m Happy :).If you’re looking for an enriching, entertaining, educational, and engaging food experience look no further than “Season to Taste”! Cheers...

Absolutely fantastic soups and sauces. The albondigas (think Mexican-spiced meatballs in a great broth with veggies) were fantastic. I also got a curry soup that was light but flavorful and still filling. Id have added some heat to it, but then again, when its regularly 90+ outside you might want to be able to adjust that heat level yourself. The sauces are creative and delicious. At $10 / qt for the soups it makes a great way to add some interesting new flavors to meals during the week (especially leftovers) or ~2 standalone meals. Either way Johns soups are now regularly on my weekly grocery shopping. Delivery was safe and 0 contact so all around a fantastic experience. Now on to my braised pork and sweet potato soup (delicious!!)

If you are anything like me, the idea of cooking outside of your “go-to” meals sounds idyllic and constantly remains on your New Year’s resolution list, but usually life gets in the way and cooking becomes more of a hassle than an enjoyable experience. No matter what cooking experience level you have (I am a beginner and my husband has intermediate skills), you will learn to love cooking for yourself and loved ones by taking advantage of John’s classes that are fun, informative and seasoned to your taste! Before moving to Chapel Hill, we lived in Europe and were able to enjoy delicious and fresh meals from diverse regional cuisines—these meals were not pretentious—just made with love, seasoned properly and cooked with seasonal produce. John does an amazing job through passion and storytelling of empowering even the most beginner cooks to learn basic fundamentals that are game changers in the kitchen… it will bring much more rich enjoyment into your cooking and meal preparation experiences. His intimate classes are entertaining and a perfect gift for yourself or a loved one. John feels like an old friend we have known for years and we look forward to seeing where he takes this amazing concept over the next chapter of his career. Chefs with John’s talent are not usually in the business of sharing their skills with locals… tap into this regional gem and enjoy cooking again. Cheers!

Highly recommend Season to Tastes cooking classes! Around Christmas, we took Season to Tastes creme and mousse dessert class and had a blast. Looking at the description, I thought no way we can learn how to make creme anglaise, creme caramel, creme brulee, chocolate mousse, panna cotta, profiteroles, and pot de creme in one sitting..but we did. John was an incredible teacher who taught us the basic skills to make all of those desserts. Even though hes such an accomplished chef from some of the best restaurants in the triangle (anyone else missing Six Plates?), John was super personable and made everything simple for us. After the class, we were even able to make some of the desserts on our own for holiday parties! You should definitely take these classes if you get a chance. Thanks John!!

John is a gem. I started ordering food from Season to Taste in the early days of the Covid lockdown and its been a lifesaver to have his soups and sauces delivered to our home to help us get through the week. I enjoy his weekly informative emails too. Last weekend my kids and I took a virtual cooking class with John and learned how to make chocolate truffles and bark. It was so fun! Highly recommend Season to Taste for their food offerings and cooking classes.

I have taken several of Johns classes now, and he is THE BEST. Everything is beautifully organized and prepped, and he is professional while also making the small classes feel like a little community/family affair. He manages to help us create edible works of art that feel effortless enough that I have actually gone home and made treats for friends. Would recommend to anyone!!

I took the first class of the Essential Series, and it was everything I hoped for and more. My hope was that I would be able to understand proper knife skills and learn enough to really build on what I learned through practice later, but even in the first class I felt comfortable doing things the right way and was able to accomplish things like peeling and slicing a grapefruit in ways I had always wanted to. I cannot wait to take the next part of the series and I could not more highly recommend Season to Taste.

John is a natural born teacher, and he seamlessly integrates his passion for teaching and love of cooking in his classes. This is much more than just learning a recipe, he teaches you principles of cooking to arm you with the skills needed to go out and follow any recipe or create your own. I was very nervous to start and felt lost in the kitchen, but after John’s class I’ve gained the confidence to start cooking, and have been enjoying the benefits of providing healthy and delicious food to my family, all while having fun in the process. The small class size allows for plenty of time to ask questions directly, and no matter your skill level, you will improve, have fun and learn a lot with his classes. Don’t miss out on an incredible opportunity to work so closely and learn from a professional chef!

My partner signed us up to take the Essential Class 1 with John Eisensmith as a Christmas present. To truly convey what I think of this class, I must say that we did not know what to expect. But after we took the class, we signed up immediately to the Essential Classes 2 and 3!We had so much fun, and we learned an incredible amount of stuff! Who would have thought that learning to use a knife is such an adventure?! By the end, we were cutting both vegetables and fruits beautifully, and we knew how to choose the best of them. We learned what things we need to have a functional kitchen and some essentials of food safety! We cannot wait for our future Essential Classes! John is a gifted teacher that knows how to transmit his love for food and cooking. Thanks, John!
