So far so good. I will take another review after I finish every quarter. This was my 1st quarter. I enjoyed it b/c I got my moneys worth. The instructors were caring, and thorough. My advise is to only enroll if you know you can make it to school on time daily.

Im a game design student and am actually really enjoying my time at this school. Ever since I first made contact with the staff, they have done nothing but try to accommodate me here. Im in my mid 20s and have gone to other colleges before. Im old enough to know what I want and am willing to spend money to get it. The people who seem to drop out are those who are 18, or 19, fresh out of high school, and arent taking this seriously. For them, it is indeed a waste of money. The teachers are some of the best Ive had and there are no unnecessary classes. The housing is the only thing to avoid as it is overpriced, and not at all close to the school. Yes, the tuition is daunting, but its going to cost wherever you go. If youre sure of yourself and sure of your goals, the price tag really doesnt matter. There are cheaper schools, but if your forging a weapon to go into battle with, why settle for a weaker blade? If that weapon is to carry me through war, Id want it to be as sharp and strong as possible, whatever the cost. An extreme analogy, but true nonetheless. The Art Institute will arm you with the best, rest is up to you.

All I did was accumulate debt for a sub par education. I didnt want to believe the terrible things I kept hearing, but when they lost 2 years worth of my course record but still found time to send me a bill, I was DONE. 1000% DONE! My so called advisor was nowhere to be found and the Dean had to get involved ion several occasions when I had to argue with the Registrar about me attending classes when she didnt think I did. DO NOT waste your time or money. The housing situation is terrible. There are very few competent people running the business side of things over there. The instructors are pretty awesome, but if the office loses every grade youve ever made and tells you that you never completed online classes that you did do, whats the point? Also, they dont tell you that if you change schools, the credits either dont transfer or they dont transfer with any sort of balance on your account. Big trap for minority kids looking to do better. They see the funding you get and they let literally anyone in whether you actually want an education or not. Had a friend tell me about how Financial Aid tried to send him a bill and when he went to find out what was going on, turned out they owed him a couple THOUSAND dollars. JUST SAY NOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I did not learn much when I attended this school. Like everyone else has said, it is truly a waste of money. I left there almost 3 years ago and tried to transfer to another school, an actual university and The Art Institute would and STILL will not give me my transcripts until I pay off a 9 thousand dollar loan. This is stopping me from getting my education. I was suppose to graduate college next year 2017. But I will not worry, for God has it all under control. Philippians 4:6-7 says:6: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.7: And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.Which means to NEVER worry how a situation is going to work out. Have faith in God and believe that he will work it out. Worry about NOTHING but PRAY about EVERYTHING. God is the ruler and he has the final say!

I enrolled and was accepted almost immediately. Took a semester of online courses without issue. When I went to enter the school on campus and move into housing, they did not have a room available that they guaranteed me. They ended up putting me in an off campus apartment complex in a room with holes in the walls, stains all over the floor and a criminal court receipt stuck to the wall in the (filthy) bedroom. I immediately withdrew from the school. Now that its over, they have stuck student loans to me that I was never made aware of. Ive settled and paid off one, except that they reported to the credit union that I didnt pay the full amount. That will hang over me for 10-12 years, which means my credit is so poor I wont be able to get a loan approved for anything I want within the near future (I was, again, never made aware of this). I can only hope my car lasts that long. They have ruined me financially. I sincerely wish nothing but the WORST for these people. The Art Institute is one that should be burned to the ground and closed for good.

I transferred to this AI from the one in Charlotte NC because Charlotte AI told me that if i moved out of their housing then my monthly payments would be cheaper. I moved back home and transferred to the AI of Raleigh because it was closer to my home. Needless to say i spent a year and a half at the Charlotte campus and was almost finished with my degree when this school slapped a bill in my face that i couldnt afford on my LAST QUARTER. i had 3 more months until i graduated and then the bill came. they told me that if i didnt pay i couldnt even register for my last quarter. With no extra money and no family to help i had no other choice but to quit.also as a side note: I didnt realize just how useless the classes for this school was until i transferred. I came into this school with a year and a half of knowledge from AI Charlotte only to be told by one of the teachers here that i had no idea what Im doing and its really sad that youve spent so much time in our schools but have no clue what graphic design is. Needless to say that really hurt my feelings and to be told this by a teacher who is supposed to care is actually pretty inconsiderate. Instead of telling someone they have no clue what their doing, maybe you should be a TEACHER and help the student understand instead of belittling them and make them feel like the size of an ant in front of a whole class.also, they will call and harass you just as hard as they did before you came to this school after you stop going. they will threaten you and tell you theyre turning you over to a debt collection agency and will leave you HUNDREDS of voice mails. Please do your research before you sign your life away to this place!

I had a great first two years or so (2012-2014) when the school was doing great and had professors who cared. The last two years (2014-2016) were an absolute joke. Subpar professors, issues with the school being sued by the government, students who were admitted without any design experience or will to learn.During the last two years, I have several emails sent to the Dean, my academic advisor, etc. that dont get a response. I understand times can get busy, but to ignore an email entirely until I either call repeatedly or physically drive to the location is not acceptable. They have also been running into issues finding professors and students, so my graduation date was pushed back nearly a YEAR, forcing me to decline full-time positions. To top it off, I was called recently by the Art Institute to pay a final bill of around $1,250 for my last classes. I am Veteran and my classes are paid for by the VA. I told the woman on the phone this and she said she understood and would be taking care of the matter with the VA. Instead, they sent my bill to a collection agency which has now been ringing me and effected my credit in the middle of securing a mortgage.I had a fantastic experience for the first two years and thank the staff and professors for that, but the remaining tenure has been a nightmare of unorganized staff and professors who check a box to secure accreditation. I would not recommend this school in its current status to anyone serious about design.

I was a game art/design student at the Institute for two years. When I enrolled I was promised qualified instructors. Instead what I got was a Chinese lady who couldnt be heard over someone breathing. A teacher who had no idea of what he was teaching (which is pretty messed up when he is the one teaching 3d modeling.) If you ask him how to do something hed look through the book and look online and if he didnt find it in 5 minutes hed say look in the book. I left early because I didnt want to waste 86,000 dollars on a school which photography magazines have described as a joke. Save your wallet and your well being and look into a different school.

This school is so unprofessional thank God they are closing down. Teachers use terrible words to bring down students instead of teaching like you figure they are supposed to do at a college.

TAKE MY ADVICE IVE HAD ALOT OF EXPERIENCE HERE.. I graduated from this school in 2013, this school is a joke. I deeply regrete going here everyday. Im in dept over my head and im drowning. My major doesnt pay enough to get ahead of my bills, i dont think ill ever be able to pay it off... The Financial aid office never knows what their talking about, and it seems most of the staff hate it there. Ive seen many staff quit because they relize this isnt a school its a greedy money institution... If your thinking about going here do alot of research, youll be surprised what you find.(like the U.S. government suing this school for fraud a few years ago) Everyone i no that went here hates that they ever stepped foot in the this school. Go to a community college... DO NOT GO HERE.
