Please avoid this school. No one helped me get a job. I was underemployed for years after graduation. A degree from here will not help you with JD Advantage jobs. Currently, I have crippling debt and no real way to pay it down. I get angry when people say Duke is a top school. Take it from me, Duke does not help its students in a practical way. They do not teach you enough to pass the bar exam, which is the gateway to the profession. Since graduation from Duke Law, I have worked in a car rental office, a coffee shop, as a temporary tour guide, and at a nonprofit(while making peanuts and being called incompetent). Thanks Duke Law! My low came when I began working as a banquet server at a ritzy country club. Think about it. These are jobs that I could have attained without an expensive law degree.I wish I never heard of this place, let alone attended. You will not get a job from here unless you do really well in law school. Lets face it, with the curve, not everyone can do well. I followed the advice of magazine articles without realizing that going to Duke Law is a sham. Save your money and go elsewhere and do really well! You will be much better off. The crazy part is that the Duke Law faculty and staff probably know which students will struggle yet admit them anyway. Duke has really crushed my dream of becoming an attorney. Why else would I have chosen this place unless it would help me get a job? No law school should be in the business of crushing dreams. The world is hard enough.

As a current law student, I am satisfied with the education I am receiving at Duke. The professors are absolutely phenomenal. School is challenging—unsurprisingly—but I feel that for the most part my experience here is worth the time and tuition. First private school I’ve attended— in that way there has been some social adjustments. Still, I recommend the institution when speaking with prospective students!
