I recently took my 5th class here, and as always, it was fantastic. I have been doing barefoot massage for 8-ish years and had already taken beginner, intermediate and advanced classes, but took Fundamentals as a review and refresher, and was definitely impressed with how much more specific the strokes are now compared to when I first started. Definitely worth it and still able to learn new things to bring back to my clients. ☺️ Whether you’re brand new to barefoot or an experienced therapist, go here, train with Julie, and you will level up your massage πŸ™Œ

I took Range of Motion training from Julie and it was one of the best trainings I’ve attended. Julie was attentive, professional, personable, and she presented the information in a clear manner that was easy to absorb. I am already using the material I learned in all my massages! I love CBM and I will definitely be back to train with Julie in the future! Thanks so much for everything!

Julie Marciniak is amazing! She knows so much about the bodies structure and function and how to help release old holding pattens to increase mobility. You can tell she loves what she does. It’s shows in her work. Once she has worked with you, you will understand. I highly recommend taking a class with Julie at NC Ashiatsu Barefoot Massage.

Ive been a massage therapist for 21 years, and the 4 barefoot classes Ive taking with Julie at Bull City Soles are the best investment yet. I was growing weary of the toll doing massage was taking on body. I was able to leave after the first weekend of the fundamentals class and feel so much better in my body. I now had the use of my feet and gravity in addition to my hands. Over the 3 plus years since my first barefoot class, Ive retained more clients for longer sessions. Each year my gross income has climbed. Most importantly, I love the techniques and enjoy work again. I would encourage anyone considering barefoot therapy, to take with Julie and her wonderful staff.

As a licensed massage therapist, I got sick and tired of hurting every single night when my shift was over. I suffered from migraine headaches, severe right shoulder pain from a too many deep tissue massages, back pain, piriformis issues, mild loss of sensation in my hands from too many hot stone sessions and isolation work with my fingers, and much more. I was extremely over worked and extremely under paid while working in the spa. So, one day I decided to look for something else that would allow me to do the work that I love while avoiding pain and injuries. After searching the internet, I found a barefoot massage training in Durham, NC. There were many other programs out there but location and pricing was key for me because I have a large family. From this point on, everything changed for me as a therapist after taking all of the course she offered at that time.Upon meeting Julie, I wondered how her tiny feet could teach me something about the body that I didn’t already know. I was a little skeptic on the first day of class because this modality was new to me. But I was highly impressed by Julie’s knowledge of the body from the moment see placed her feet on my back. It was as if they were communicating with my muscles and the dysfunction contained within. Her tiny feet mapped out my body with deep balanced pressure. By the end of training one, I could feel the changes in my body. It was clear that she possessed an awesome awareness of the body’s anatomy and she was a natural teacher. The environment of Julie’s practice is clean and inviting. After just a few days of training, you forget that you have to go home because you just want to stay there and keep practicing. The staff members are absolutely wonderful and become almost like family members after you hang around long enough. And fortunately for me, I was able to partner with 3 of current staff members during my trainings. Natural talent is all that comes to mind when I revisit my memories from partnering with them.As a retired teacher, it was also refreshing to see that she didn’t set any of her students up to fail and was highly concerned with practicing safely and efficiently. Julie created an environment that was all-inclusive and respectful to everyone in attendance. She never rushed any of her trainings and planned a teacher/student ratio that was very effective for optimal learning. Pricing was very reasonable for what she has to offer. All sessions were in-person and not on a pre-recorded website that can cause safety concerns around practicing on the general public. Instead, we did live in person practice sessions every day with a practicum at the end on various body types. We had Julie by our side checking our body mechanics and foot placement throughout the training. This gave us a real-world experience of the various types of bodies we would be working on when we were certified. While equipping us with the tools to be successful. All levels of training incorporated many different learning styles and references that made the material that was being presented digestible. Allowing me to retain the learning and be self-confident in the new skills that I’d learned. These barefoot massage trainings allowed me to empower myself and take back control over my body and my career. I left the spa life and became an independent contractor and have been doing barefoot massage ever since. I no longer suffer from the tormenting pain felt after doing regular massage sessions. The most impacting thing that I took away from her trainings was the fact that we all are forever learners. If you’re on the fence about deciding whether or not barefoot massage is right for you, I would say take the beginners class and see where it goes. I was on the fence too. But after the first day, I knew I had made the right decision to save my body and my sanity as a massage therapist. I also gained Julie as my Rolfer and someone I look up to for her genuineness and commitment to our field.
