UMBI is a great school. You will do well as long as you are serious about your education. There have been several to graduate from here and who are doing well. Those who dont follow rules and who are disrespectful do not do well at UMBI and wont do well any where. If you study, have a good attitude and adhere to policies, you will do great. Those who do not do what they are suppose to do seem to blame the school instead of looking at themselves. You can do well and you will enjoy UMBI!

UMBI is a great school. I enjoy attending there and I will be graduating soon. It amazes me how Shakiria Walker is using a fake name to write a bad review, because she said that she was. It also amazes me that she is not telling how disrespectful she was to Ms. Simon and also how many times Ms. Swanson has had to talk to her about her dress code. I and other class mates have witnessed her several times being rude and not wanting to follow rules. She has had several chances. Now that she has been told that she can’t come back, she now wants to put the school down. My cousin graduated from UMBI and she is doing well in her field. The instructors and Mrs. Straws will work with you as long as you are doing what you are supposed to do. Please don’t believe the bad reviews, because I promise you, they are not telling the full story.

This school is terrible and very unprofessional and they are very money hungry. There is no scholarship, she just wants you to pay out of pocket. They care more about what you wearing than your actual education. The books are old the computers doesnt have the simple applications that a normal computer would have. The director is very intimidated by the young girls and tries to act like she is there parent. This school is terrible and rally not a real school, they have a third party accredidation and they are barely obliging by the board of education rules.

I graduated from UMBI and I loved this school. People who have problems there are those who don’t do what they are supposed to do and then they get mad when things don’t go their way. Mrs. Straws is very nice and helpful. My cousin attends UMBI now and she is doing well and will be graduating soon. I am working in my field and it is all because of what I learned at UMBI!

I’m going to be honest because I would want someone to be honest with me. This school is horrible and very unprofessional. The instructor is very rude and a liar. They say this program is the best, but yet it was very hard for me to get a job. Me personally all 9 month programs lie. I don’t recommend this one to anybody. Stay away as far as possible. They take your money for a couple of classes and you don’t even get a refund check. The drop out rates are high and teachers have fought each other and got fired. It’s all drama and a waste of money. Go to a 2 or 4 year college it’s better. I WOULD NOT LIE.

UMBI has a great director and staff. Im so honored to have been introduced to the medical field and obtained a certification as a medical assistant. Its amazing how you can take 8 months of your life to change your salary to create a better life for yourself and family. No school is prefect but at the end of the day we all kept each other motivated and remembered what common GOAL we all had and that was to walk across that stage!!! I could never thank Ms.Straws enough for giving me that extra push and always having time for me as a student! Yes you have to be on time and study lol... But thats any school. I would recommend this school to anyone looking care for people in health care industry.

I am a current student of 2018, enrolled in the dental assisting program. The WIOA paid for me to receive 10 months of in class instructional training. The medical assistant instructor quit and my class was forced to be without our instructor for an 1/4 of the class so she could instruct another class. And when my class complained about this treatment we were threatened with suspension. No one in the class can quit because our time will be wasted and no money returned.

I graduated from UMBI in 2016 as a medical Assistant, I’ve had nothing but an amazing experience I’m just now getting around to taking my certification test and Mrs.Straws has done everything in her power to help me. People say you don’t get job opportunities thats a lie they help you get a internship that does not guarantee the facility will hire you.You must prove yourself to the facility. As for others who judge Mrs.Straws as snotty as long you abide by rules and do what’s asked of you then there’s no problem. If you don’t follow the guidelines of course she’s going to speak with you and the reason why is because she wants to see you SUCCEED not because shes being mean. I took my certification and passed. Thank you Mrs.Straws

I am really disappointed to read the poor ratings this school received. Attending this school changed my life for the better. I had been in retail for many years working an unimaginable schedule. I was pregnant and my marriage was falling apart all at the same time. I enrolled in UMBI in order to get a normal schedule and to have holidays and weekends off to spend with my son. The instructors were no nonsense. When it came to your uniform, proper technique in the lab, and doing your work, they didnt play. I appreciate the discipline because in the medical field, there is no room for error when you are putting information in peoples medical records. You have no choice but to be accurate. I was hired on the site where I did my externship. The school made it mandatory that you take the practice registry exam before sitting for the real one. Im glad I was prepared to take the real one and passed. Working as a medical assistant is how I take care of my son. Jobs are plentiful. Im well trained. I can work at an Urgent Care, a clinic, the hospital etc. I have a good job now. (You will make over $11 an hour). Go to the right place and you can at least make $15/hr. It is entry level, but it will pay your bills and get you on your way. The medical field is now my lifes work. I can always choose another program (LPN) if I want to move up, but my feet are in the door and my career outlook is promising. Without this school I would have stayed in a dead end career and working crazy hours and missing all the holidays. I had my son towards the end of the program and Mrs. Straws and the team were very encouraging to me and helped me succeed in finishing the program. They gave me the time I needed and let me pick up exactly where I left off. I cannot thank her enough. She definitely cares about her students.

I wasn’t going to do this but however I’m flabbergasted to do so. And I Promise I’m Going To Be As Honest As Possible. Mrs. Straws Is Nasty As Hell Gets Easily Offended. She’s Very Unprofessional! I Spoke With Her About Some Private Things And Instead She Chooses To Throw It Up Ain My Face When I’m Expressing To Her That I’m Considering Another School. You Would Think She Would Ask me Whats Wrong Instead She Cuts Me Off And Be Nasty Towards Me. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THAT FRAUD OF A SCHOOL. The DROP OUT RATE IS HIGHER THAN THE INTAKE RATE 😂 . HOW CAN YOU BE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND THE TEACHER ? That MEAN AT SOME POINT YOUR CLASS WILL ALWAYS BE EMPTY BECAUSE YOURE SO BUSY WITH EVERYTHING ELSE. I WENT FOR MY LITTLE FREE TRIAL & I WAS NOT PLEASED WITH THE HALF TAUGH MATERIAL AND ATTENDANCE RULES. YOU ARE PAYING ABOUT 15000 To Get A $11 Dollar An Hour Job. OH NO !!!!!! I REPEAT DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE CONSIDERING

This school is horrible! Do not go here, I repeat do not do it. The director/owner of the school Mrs. Straws is a disrespectful person. Firstly the price to go here should be robbery, 14000 is to much for the services they offer. Second, Mrs. Straws think she can talk/ treat you any kind of way because shes the owner. Not only is she the owner, but shes one of the teachers as well. A horrible teacher at that! She talks down on people and belittles them. Sge half teach the material and just expect you to know it. I was there for a month and a half and watched her class go from 8 students to 3. Her school has a high drop out rate because shes rude and big headed. She call people hood and ratchet all the time when shes the ratchet one arguing with students over a little nothing. She tells you not to bring the drama but shes full of it. She picks at you until you cant take it anymore. I got kicked out because I went back to put my name on my test after she took it up, how pity is that! Just dont do it, its not worth the time, stress, or money. Mr. Johnson, the admissions rep is a liar that will tell you anything to get you in the door because their students are dropping like flys. I will never recommended this school to anyone!!!
