American Aviation was the best part of my pilot training. Our instructors in there were so experienced and helpful and the schools location is so challenging to improve multitasking skills with its crowded airspace which is why Id recommend AA for any student pilot. I flied in there at almost winter time, they still managed to finish hundred hours of flight time in such a short time and we were 50-60people. Many times Ive been told about that before, but yes I definitely agreed that flying as a student pilot in California was much more enjoyable than becoming an airliner, thanks to them.

Now flying the B787 all over the world for a major carrier, I still look back at the time I spent at AAA. Some of the greatest days of my life were at this school, I will never forget the experiences I had there.Flight training is a funny business and I’ve been to many schools over the years, but AAA holds my fondest memories.

I went to this school a month ago. They told me that the price of the aircraft was 135 dollars, when I arrived I noticed that it was 165 (per hour).I didnt appreciate the school ambience from the very first moment. The appartment was horrible and smelled. I decided so not to join the school.

I would like to attend this flight school as a European citizen, but reading these comments about the European training course ( EASA ) really does put me off. Now, I dont know which flight school I can attend in the US.

I recently liased with Mark. He was really helpful, he provided me with appropriate answers which i highly appreciated. Being someone who is already in aviation, i do acknowledge that schools will provide an attractive image of the business since theyre living from it. Significantly, from your own researches you would soon realize reality is something else, e.g:TSA, visa, medical, trip, accomodation, additional hours, etc. Definitely it does increase initial price but this is part of the students responsibility unless youre confident of your ability to get everything done in scheduled time. This is also for my case the reason why i decided to pursue my training in EU itself. But as long as AAA was concerned, they did a great job on communication, and i hope this review will help them project a better image to attract students. Good luck Mark.Regards,Jason.

Dont go there. They will kill you. The good reviews you see here are from their own employees. They have students with more than 100 hours of flight time still no solo. Most of their students are in this situation. This school had two crashes in less than 6 months. Two of their student died. They got the worst maintenance. If you check their schedule half of their airplanes are squawked all the time sometimes even more. They dont even follow FAA routine maintenance properly. According to local news source this school was named El Cajon flight school and they trained the hijackers involved in 9/11

Hi everyone,I went to AAA some months ago and I would never choice this school again..definitevely.Low standard training , school really bad.I spent 9 month to get my PPL FAA because the aircrafts were always in maintenance because are all very very old.The instructors want to make just hours and they dont care about your training. The owners think only about money and they want you spend more money possible.I dont advice this school to everhone.Robin

This goes for EASA aspirants only. The housing was awful (see pictures). Apartments need to be refurbished (new bathtub, toilet, mountings) to meet modern western standards. Rather choose your own housing apart from AAA.Staff is nice but sometimes communication is not easy. Emails take time to get answered and are at times not fully answered to rule out all unclarities which is vital when organizing everything from abroad. As a EU citizen request to talk to Martin Lloyd regarding all the regulations, preparation and questions concerning the flight training because he knows everything about EASA training, especially about licensing.Use sufficient buffer on your budget calculations. The approximate of 11.000$ work for the license only. Administrative work such as Visa, TSA, medical etc. is not included and add up significantly. Also the hourly rates are subject to change. Outside housing isnt cheap either.Calculate with more than 7 to 8 weeks when coming unprepared and with 0 experience. It gives you more wiggle room when learning takes time or when there are days when you cannot fly.I cannot say anything about the flight training because I didnt flew a single hour there but the flight instructors seemed nice and professional, at least for EASA (heard different stories about the FAA-branch of this school).Try to visit the school first before you take decisions to get your license(s) there.

Excellent EASA training. Converted my FAA into a CAA PPL(A) w/FRTOL. Expect high standards and hard work.

Please please stay away, my partner from Germany had emailed the school prior to deciding to join and was promised the world, as in hours of flying and instructor availability, what was meant to be a memorable occasion in obtaining a license turned out to be the opposite, as in terms of flying and getting a licence, the school just milked him for his money and he returned without a license, in the 3-4 weeks he was there he only flew 7 times, again this was due to instructor availability and planes being in maintenancethere was only 1 instructor available at the time when there was 5 other students enrolled, the safety of the planes at the school was a joke, as in they were often in regular maintenance during his stay, also there was a death of a student that occurred prior to his enrollment, again it turned out the instructor who was flying the plane was not suitable to fly as it turned out many students previously complained about his conduct and behaviour, the instructor had decided to practice engine failures in a mountain terrain in low height and as a result the student died. Please see google news in terms of this incidentthe school is a cash cow for European students/personal , if trying to complete an EASA license please refrain and spend money else where and if trying to obtain an FAA license please visit next door at Californian Flight Academy..Please do your research into the school look at google news, other flying forums, this school needs to close down !!!!from the follow up again, my comment stated if your looking to complete FAA License then go next door .....where did i state they do EASA license.. again like others have stated some of these reports/feedback are created from the staff of AAA, please contact former students or current students and ask them about the school ,and also please ask management in relation to the incident where the student was killed back seating.. again another hush hush report from the school... save your money and go else where!!!in regards to the reply PLEASE READ WHAT I HAD STATED: if trying to complete an EASA license please refrain and spend money else where and if trying to obtain an FAA license please visit next door at Californian Flight Academy.. AGAIN AVOID AT ALL COST UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME, PLEASE CONTACT PREVIOUS STUDENTS ON FB WHO WILL ADVISE YOU OF THIS JOKE OF A SCHOOL ...

Neither student pilots nor instructors are following the suggested flight path when departing CRQ, making their training a nuisance for residents and businesses in the surrounding Carlsbad area.
