The front office staff and instructors are amazing. I’ve been in the welding program for a few months as well as working as a work study and the environment is nothing but positive and helpful. It’s a very hands on program, the instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and ready to assist when you have questions or want a demonstration. The admission reps strive to be as supportive as possible to walk students through the on boarding process, while also being so friendly and encouraging. Great place to learn a trade, would highly recommend.

The staff here are some of the most helpful and kindest people that you can meet. I never really had expiernce looking for schools before this and they helped me step by step along the way with absolutely no problems. 100% recommend this school to anyone whos willing to put in the work.

Electrician program is awesome, staff will do their best to help you find a job in the field, as long as you put one hundred percent into your class work and trade. You will see many real world examples in class that relate to the field that also help you gain a profound understanding of how electricity actually works. Would recommend to a family member or friend.

I was very disappointed in the quality of education Summit College is providing. I dropped out the LVN program. I paid a registration fee of 150 dollars that I wont get back. But i left the program before I was committed to 20k debt and OBLIGATED to pay 20k for tuition. You only get 5 days so careful on how long you stay there. For a new LVN school they should have hired a experience instructor. She did not know what a syllabus was! It does not matter how much experience you have as a nurse but the matter of being able to teach it. The instructor did not know what was on the PowerPoint she was lecturing on. Ms.Crowdus was definitely winging it. And trying to skip curriculum. You cannot skip curriculum in nursing! Its a standard for a reason. Everytime the instructor read the slide she kept saying I think what its trying to say... what do you mean you think its trying to say ?!?!?!?! Unacceptable. She could not even answer my questions. Additionally to her response on the PowerPoint, the instructor would say I didnt know that after reading a paragraph based on the powerpoint. How could you not know? Very unacceptable and very unprofessional. The instructor lost 3 hours of lecture, skipped curriculum, Additionally to not lecturing for 3 hours she would get OFF TOPIC ALOT. We as students cannot lose time in a 12 month program! There is alot of information to retain. I left in tears today. I know my last name is a color, however it should not be assumed and misspelled as BROWN. Like okay you forgot my last name was Black youre gonna remember its a color and assume its Brown?!?! How do you assume my last name?! Is it because Im a brown woman? I was insulted! After crying due to feeling discriminated and feeling like I was just another body who was willing to pay. After everything I went through they should at least given me a refund of my registration fee. I went to Concorde. They made Summit College look like a joke! At Concorde college if you are military affiliated there is extra grant money to aid for tuition. I felt like my education was valuable there and they truly care about the students! I was welcomed with joy and made me feel like I belong at Concorde College. I met all the wonderful staff and they were all excited to meet me. I surely did not feel like a piece of meat. Run run run run as far as you can from this campus all they care about is your money but hey if you want to be treated like a piece of meat for all means go for it.

I’m a current student in the HVAC program and today I promised the “Campus Manager” to disseminate my opinion of the program to the public, so here it goes!TL;DR: Unless you are using your Post-911 GI-Bill benefits, get paid to go to school here and are dedicated to practicing on your own time, don’t spend your money going to this school.I knew what I was getting into when I signed up. Summit is a for-profit school and I was expecting everything to be about their bottom line. I have tried to not let that tint my observations. With that being said, it’s very hard to look away from all the details that show me the school’s primary concern is not education.- The program overview says that “When you complete the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning/Refrigeration program, you will be prepared for the testing required to obtain EPA 608 Universal Certification.” The school doesn’t let you take the certification exam until the last month of the program when there is no schooling pre-requisite to take the exam. I have asked to take it early since it’s included with the tuition but the “Campus Manager” has refused. The only reason you need it is to legally handle refrigerants. I can go online or to a refrigeration supply store and pay to take the test. It is not an indicator of competence in the HVAC field and the only reason they withhold it until the last month is so they can ensure the students stay until the end.- It’s better if you buy your own tools. You get to keep the bag but the tools are loaners from the school. There’s nothing wrong with used tools but some of us have had issues with their quality. They were issued on the first day and we were all missing thermocouples. We found out a few weeks later that those are used to measure refrigerant line temperatures to help determine if a system is working properly. Thankfully our instructor also brings his own tools.- It’s all about the HOURS: No matter how well you do in school, if you are not present in the school for a minimum of 80% of the class hours, you will not graduate. The issue I have with this is that they really do not care what you do during that time as long as you’re present. We had a class about the US CONSTITUTION on “Constitution Day” while we signed up to learn about HVAC/R.- You should definitely practice on your own. As I said before, I knew ahead of time what I was getting myself into. The instructors know the field but have to deal with the limited resources available. I’m getting my own tools and equipment to practice at home. Eventually, I plan to replace the AC system in my home with a new heat pump so at least I will have that experience under my belt by the time I graduate.

The HVAC night class is useless and not recommended. They care only about getting veterans money and give almost no education in return. They said its mostly lab work with a ratio of 80% lab and 20% class work but its more like 99% class work and 1% lab work. The gentleman running this establishment doesnt hold instructors accountable with being on time or accurately keeping records which both hurt students alot

I am writing this review not because I want to but feel like I have to educate people about the substandard conditions of this “school” before you give them your hard earned money. I enrolled in this school because I wanted to gain a more intense knowledge about the hvac trade. I am already working for a hvac company but figured it would be more helpful if I had a solid understanding of the fundamentals to jumpstart my career. I WAS WRONG. This has got to be the most disorganized, unsystematic and sorry excuse of a school I have ever attended. Mind you I already have a 4 year bachelor degree from a university. I came here for hands on experience however 95% of the equipment that one sees while taking a tour DOES NOT work. The administration is aware that the quipment doesn’t work but makes no attempt to repair any of it. Every lab we have taken has been a failure due to the lack of working equipment. The lab book that you are required to purchase at the beginning of the course is rendered useless because of the lack of equipment. We have not opened the lab book 1 time. The classroom setting is not any better. There is only one competent instructor at this school and at one point I had a teacher who said “I’m going to quit once this starts to feel like a job”. The other instructor I had is a nice guy but talks for 5 hours a day about random ideas and follows no systematic approach to teaching a subject. The only teacher who is good in the slightest is still difficult to learn from because of the lack of visuals and resources given to him. There are no PowerPoints, no classroom activities, and no systematic approach to learning any of the subjects. The teacher is given a book and told to “teach”. That consists of him talking at you for 5 hours a day and doing review questions. I spend 13,000 dollars to go here where I would have been better off buying a 200 dollar book. Which is not included in the tuition by the way. One of my biggest misconceptions about this school is that we would start in the basics and then work our way to more advanced subjects, following a system of progression. Instead we jump around from module to module with none of them corresponding to each other. This makes it difficult to fully grasp concepts and understand any of the basic foundations. Basically the hvac program is paying 13,000 dollars to fund the welding program which is constantly using materials and eating up money. I could go on but I will stop here. Warn anyone who is serious about learning hvac to NOT come here. The company I worked for even hires the valedictorian of the year before and had to let him go because he couldn’t even hook up a set of gauges (very basic skill). His lack of knowledge and skills was astounding. Also to let you know, the book and tools given to you in the beginning of your program are not included in your tuition. Those are added expenses if you want to keep them. I ask myself everyday what am I paying 13,000 dollars for. I was hoping that it would get better early on but now at month 8 out of 9 I am regretting my decision to keep paying my monthly tuition.
