The teachers and individual schools are wonderful. The school board, however, has not been very supportive or active in protecting their students. My little sister has been homeschooled for three years, but has been taught nothing and despite attempts to bring her back into public school, there has been no intervention or even notice that shes not receiving an education. The school board is notorious for giving an overt amount of pressure for attendance, yet not providing the support a student needs to get them back into school. Instead, they are slapped with a fine and told their parents will go to jail. Maybe this could be remedied if the members actually gave some effort to reach out to disillusioned youth, especially in our area, but the school board remains absent in influencing anyone to actually get an education.
