My niece goes to this school...and when she comes home she always says school was amazing or good but the only problem is that she was assaulted by her bus driver.Other then that this school is so awesome...also Ms. Richardson was my 1st grade teacher and Mr.Caldwell was also my teacher!!!

I have two children who attend this school (3rd and 4th) they have been here since Kindergarten ( Spent Pre- K at Rockburn) my 3rd grader was assualted by a teacher and it was not reported to me until AFTER my son came home and told me. Upon speaking with the now new principal ( Mr. Micheal Caldwell) asking for information on the teacher, he told me he could not give me the information of the teacher whom hit my child. That it was against school policy and that he had reported it to CPS. He declined to give the case number. A few months later the teacher was allowed to return without my knowledge until once again my son told me. I spoke with the principal again where he had stated that the investigation was concluded ( never shared the results) and that she was allowed to return to the school but could not be near my son! Are you kidding me! So she can hit someones child! A little while after that they started calling me and saying that my son was having behavioral problems and that he need to be placed in a special needs school. This became a topic AFTER my son came home this school year and stated that his new teacher this year was assaulting him and I said I was getting CPS to look into it. The held a meeting saying that basically the recommendation they made for his education are so high that no public school will take him! I am beyond heart broken as I will fight to have my son NOT placed into a school he doesnt need. None of this behavior was present until AFTER he was assaulted! So now my son is the problem! But never had these problems before this. My son has been in a school setting since the age of 2. He has also attended summer school and the only place this alleged behavior takes place is at school?! No they did this to my son to cover up there tracks! I dont believe an investigation was done and I believe they let that teacher get away with it and tried to paint my son as the problem to overshadow what is really going on in that school. I wish they never got rid of MRS. ANOFF or MRS. Carter. I have reached out to the board of education for a formal appeal! If you can avoid this school please do! Their level of professionalism has dropped dramatically with the change in staff! If your children come home and tell you something, believe them and INVESTIGATE IMMEDIATELY!

This review is based on an isolated event which I will update once I have a better idea of how my daughter is doing in this school.The school is very clean and seems to be organized well as far as classroom locations go.My daughters first day of school was yesterday. She is signed up for after care through Recreation and Parks which takes place inside the school itself.My daughters step dad went to pick up my daughter yesterday from the aftercare program when he was informed she wasnt there at all and she in fact was put on a school bus.You would not believe the horror he felt as his stomach dropped thinking where was his daughter.He went to check out apartment and he found out daughter home with my brother who just happened to be visiting this week.Thank God he was there and that someone on the bus took my daughter to her apartment complex (which my daughter identified herself) or else I may not be able to say my daughter is safe today.Apparently the ball was dropped somewhere and the after school program didnt alert the school she did not show, the school didnt alert or even ask me to put my daughter on a bus, and the bus driver didnt report a crying girl who had no idea where she was going on a strange bus.Its safe to say we were very upset but still glad to know our daughter was safe.I will update this review once I have a better idea of how this school operates.Update, my daughter had learned so much in such a short amount of time thanx to Ms. Boardley. She is a great teacher!Downside I’ve had to call the office several times to get documents over to my daughters afterschool program and to finally receive a transfer packet even though I was continually promised it on certain days. I didn’t receive the packet until the weekend before she would start in the new school so it’s no surprise she was without a school that Monday morning. Still the education the kids receive here is top notch! I think the office staff could be better.

Been a while since I was in elementary school, however my childhood best friend was stabbed with a pencil when we went here (hes still alive btw)
