For $15,000.00 I was unable to get a piece of paper or certification thru the state. For $3,000.00 I found a reputable school that allows you to get certified as a veterinary assistant.I wish I would’ve looked before I wasted my time there. Virtually NONE of their equipment worked (including the x-ray machine they show on the website.). A total scam is all this is. The director of the vet assistant program is an atheist who is beyond biased and does what she wants regardless of what’s best for the student. The administration does not call you back on anything and they refuse to write a response to the negative reviews they receive as well. They actually went so far as to remove the reviews directly from their website, because they had so many negative reviews. If it doesn’t fit their convenience, it just gets overlooked and ignored.Don’t waste your time at a pretend school, look into it and go to a real school where you can be certified by the state as a vet assistant. There they will actually care about your training. Please don’t do as I did and waste your time.We took one field trip all year to the zoo for a 30 minute presentation and on some clinic days I was allowed to do nothing except watch. This place is so poorly run you would be lucky to be trained properly, especially with their lack of functioning equipment, or to even complete the entire program. My class had 40+ and MAYBE 5-6 people completed it. This place is a scam. Go to a school that can get you certified with the state, which costs around $3,000.00 to $4,000.00, not $15,000.00. Please don’t blow your money like I did. Look before you leap. This school is a scam.

I don’t think it would be possible to have received a better education with more personalized one-on-one time. The teachers were all very knowledgeable about my chosen career field, and also very passionate about teaching as well. I truly believe that the tuition is worth every penny as the possibilities are limitless. The only reason I am not giving GLIT five stars is because admissions and financial aid didn’t seem to know what they were doing very much. Otherwise, it’s definitely life changing education.

Since we opened Massage Envy in Erie in March of 2015, we are constantly seeking out the best licensed massage therapists to join our growing family. And, we are proud to say that the majority of our team is made up of graduates of the GLIT Massage Therapy Program. We’ve found the program to consist of extremely knowledgeable, professional and caring educators who truly understand the health benefits of massage and train and prepare their students with the tools that will give them the best possible opportunity to build a successful career in the field. We are big supporters of Great Lakes! Owner, Massage Envy Erie

Megan Bell, who manages the vet assistant program, makes Great Lakes look very unprofessional. She is destroying the reputation they have worked so hard to build. She is immature, talks about other students in front of class, lies to her superiors and does things out of spite regardless of circumstance or truth. Based upon my encounters with her I would not recommend Great Lakes to anyone trying to achieve a degree in the veterinary assistant program. As for the other programs, instructors and directors, they are a great crew. Its a shame shes making them, look so bad.

I agree completely with the person who stated that the instructors bring their personal lives into the classroom. My six month experience at this school was nothing but a drama filled, overly-priced, waste of time. When I toured the school, I was told I could use my medical office certificate to find a coding job. After I enrolled I was talking to one of the instructors about the career path I wanted to take and she told me Id never get hired as a coder with this certificate. When I asked the tour guide about it, she completely turned on me and began yelling at me to get out of her office and accused me of lying and verbally attacking her. I was forced into a high-pressure externship that I didnt want. I was told I had to do it because I was a good representative of the school. I found my own job after graduation without their help but they used my name in materials that made it look like they found the job for me. The jobs I found barely paid over minimum wage. I am struggling to repay the hefty loan I had to take out to cover the ridiculous price of this course. The instructors were not well educated, not trained to teach, and not monitored at all. Look into a college or university if you want to get into the medical field, not a technology school. Your certificate will not stand up to any degree you can earn elsewhere.

I will never recommend their Billing and coding program.I attended and graduated in 4/13. My instructors in coding and insurance spent most of their time on the computer and told us they could not show us how to find codes and we had to fiqure it out for ourselves and continued to surf the internet during 90% of the 2 hr class. I had to go to another staff member who was not even an instructor to get help. The other instructor was hired to teach some human anatomy and actually told us that blood is blue until it hit the air. Really? The did not even try to prepare us for certification by a RECOGNIZED ORGANIZATION.People, run dont just walk away from this school until they get there act together.

I give it a one star because I did meet some great people. Durning my time there I took a phlebotomist class. Needless to say they did not inform me that that was the last class they were doing and I could have had on sight training with local hospitals or lab organizations within 3 weeks. Instead of 9 months. I blew 10,000 for nothing. If your considering to go here I recommend the following, do not listen to the recruiters , do your own research on the job your interested in and above all else highly consider a better route like Gannon or mercyhurst where credits received will be useable else where.
