Teacher gave me a bad score, told me to do a bunch of stuff and he would change the grade. When I did it and resubmitted it he didnt re-score it and didnt respond to my emails asking about it.

It depends which school you go to. In my experience, Sheldon high school was a really terrible experience for me because of the lack of support for anything that isnt being athletic and wildly extroverted. South Eugene high school, however, is an excellent school for all types of people, especially those who are sensitive/artsy/generally calm. South is very supportive in general while Sheldon is geared toward one type of student. The 4J district as a whole, Ive always had a good experience with. Its mostly a bunch of wonderful teachers and a district that is always growing to fit the needs of the students and their families!

I love this school and the environment. The rules are reasonable, and there is minimal bullying that I have personally seen. The teachers are amazing too.

They harrassed my family member who had been working for them for a few years and wrongfully interrogated her. I wonder if its because of the color of her skin. Shame on you 4j leaders. Treat your staff better. They have families to take care of.

I wish I could give a zero star review, but I will have to settle with one star. I am not even sure where to start. All of the events concerning my child, who has special needs, over the last 2 and a half years has been mortifying. My childs needs were thoroughly ignored, and they really dont need that much. The staff at Spencer Butte Middle School did not implement one single accommodation that was recommended by the physicians. There is not a counselor available, which I had never heard of for a middle school. They did not respond to my childs need for assistance with bullying. They disregarded the diagnoses and never one time offered to do an IEP. I had to ask. When my spouse and I escalated this up the chain to district administration, they ignored us, and even went so far as to imply that the issues experienced were somehow brought on by us. The icing on the cake was, when their school psychologist (who had close contact with, and evaluated our child) was put on leave for looking at child pornography, and we found out by watching the news. They stated that parents had been contacted in the news story. We most definitely had not. There has been a systemic failure at every level. I truly hoped that this experience was unique, but judging by the tremendous number of lawsuits settled for others experiencing similar issues, it seems to be a pattern.

Some teachers were truely exceptional but some/most were not. Its a loud enviroment and poor watch over recreational grounds.

The government cannot run a business and arent supposed to. The post office is still open only because they keep stealing my money and using it to keep it open. Wish I could steal from them to keep my business running. With that said, public school system are no different than the post office, so why people would expect them to be is foolish. It cost, on average, 18000 dollars per student, per year to send them to a public school. It cost, on average, 5000 a year for a child to go to private school.Public schools are bad, for one, because they have no competition and two, dont have the worry of going out of business.Private schools are better because they have competion and will close if they are bad.I really urge people, since government theft doesnt look like its stopping any time soon, to contact and demand that all public schools be closed. If the government would give 5000 dollar vouchers to parents, per child, for a private school of the parents choice, (the lowest that is spent to send a child to public school is just under 8000 per year) I think we would see great improvement in education. If parents dont like the school because its bad, then they wont end up spending the money there and the school will go out of business. Chances are they will want your money, so they will do what they need to improve. This saves the victims who are being robbed, on average, 13000 per student, per year. I highly doubt thats what the government really spends and the public school system is a front . As I cant see how a private school, a good one, can thrive on 5000, but at 18000 a public one is horrible, but thats a different topic. As for the trachers in 4j, I have met some great ones that I loved and a couple that had no business being around children. My above statements, I believe would weed that out as well.

My daughters been going to 4-J all her life. Ive visited with all of her teachers from K-7th, and feel like the teachers do really care about the kids. The district has budget issues, and large class sizes, but thats widespread and not isolated to just 4-J.

Our child has been in two different 4J schools, every Teacher and Principal have been exceptional. I know Superintendent Balderas through Rotary and school activities, he truly cares about our Teachers, Kids and community!

This school district and Monroe middle school discriminate against disabled children. Monroe wants to protect its elitist image against children with disabilities. I live across the street from Monroe and they do everything they can to keep my son out of there school because he has autism. Why Monroe and the district are allowed to be bigots I do not know. But they wont get away with it. I can promise you this.

I am absolutely disgusted with this school! They lost my son four times, he is seven years old; one incident had two hours passing before anyone let me know my son was MIA and then they called me asking why he wasnt at school. I could write an article on my experience but I will not. I AM sharing this screenshot to show what happened when I reached out to the superintendent to do something about my son repeatedly being lost by the school after both the principal and the secretary told me it wasnt their responsibility to know where my son was when in their building. Im hearing impaired and the superintendent blocked my only form of communication to him after sending me a poorly constructed email telling me he wasnt aware of an issue and hopes that it can be worked out. If that isnt a cop out of one s job responsibilities or obligations I do not know what is. But how they can tell me theyre not responsible for my son who is seven years of age, is preposterous! This is totally illegal!

I as a student at one of 4Js schools, know how bad they do. Most of the time, they try to get away with ignoring that I have an IEP, and they do it almost every year, its just annoying, I dont deal with it but my parents do. at my school, they HIGHLY rely on technology, and say that it Will make it easier for everyone, thats not true, typing isnt for everyone, I personally, am ok with typing, but other people might find it stupid, and tell you to talk to them later if you dont want to type. the teachers I met in my elementary and currently middle school, are pretty alright, not all of them but most of them. Ive been going through a stage of depression, and knowing that it is from stress, my gut can get through that, but the school that I go to, does NOT know what depression is, only one teacher knows one type. And the worse thing is that the students there dont even try to learn, they try to ruin it for me, and maybe some other students as well. There is almost always bullying. and god its annoying. Most of the time the kid that does it gets in trouble, but they wont stop, they barely do anything if you ask me, level 2 and then office, thats it, level 3 and then wait, then come back and bully. So why are they continue that system, or try to make it more strict, I dont know. but thats all I got to say, I hate this district, its actually trash, that is now in a incinerator, and got took out after a year, then destroyed with a bomb, then they tried to build with the remains of the trash. I also didnt tell you they lie about being broke, they always beg for money at my school, I dont know if thats the district not giving the school funds, or if it is them pretending to be broke. but in other words, DO NOT GO HERE. please,

4j is a HORRIBLE district in our experience, maybe it’s just the specific elementary school we’ve delt with.As a blended-extended family where both parents have remarried, even with a court order showcasing access with no restrictions the school does not disclose appropriate information to both sets of parents and communicates in a very discriminatory manner. The principal is very rude, very judgemental and discriminates towards non-custodial parents. Let me repeat, year after year we have been discriminated against. The teachers are a joke, huge class sizes, inability to contain and control their classrooms. Unable to address students needs, students are not taught to abide by deadlines, we consistently get notified “due dates” have been pushed back we’re talking by weeks and months! Projects don’t get finished, homework is very laxed and afterschool activities seem to take precedent over actual school work. How can we expect to raise a generation of hard workers when they aren’t being taught to follow deadlines, finish their work and don’t have consequences for not turning in work?

Wish we couldve stayed at Buena Vista -- or that 4j had similar standards and expectations for all their schools. Gilham has been one disappointment after another this year. The vast difference in quality between the two schools is alarming.
