Deadly safety issues. The problems I encountered dealt with a total lack of caring and an undeniable lazy atmosphere provided by the employees. One of the main and only responsibilities staff have with members is making sure they are safe and helping with taking dolleys to and from members returning and taking out boats. Consistently I waited several minutes for someone to even acknowledge that I needed a dolly. This is 100% unnacceptable considering the presence of at least 2 or 3 staff standing on the beach or padio doing absolutely nothing. It’s nit rocket science when someone needs a dolly. They are probably 1. Standing there outside their boat trying to stop it from tipping over, 2. Shouting for a dolly. But instead no matter how many staff were sitting 200 ft away I could never get prompt assistance.Numerous times I have seen wind surfers on the brink of drowning without anyone helping them. Just this Tuesday I was out when a wind surfer who was obviously inexperienced fell off their board and was being pushed under the water by waves for over 10 minutes while absolutely nobody could be bothered other than me. It wasn’t until I sailed over to the wave surfer that they sent someone out. Nobody pays attention to people that are out.Numerous times I have had problems with boats primarily caused by laziness of the staff to properly inspect and replace equipment. On three boats I have had issues with rudder clasps and the subsequent falling off of rudders because the latches/clasp is bent or broken. This is not an expensive part to replace yet is crucial to maintain a safe atmosphere. Today even before I got the boat off the dolly the rudder fell off. After several minutes of myself and staff trying to reconnect it while waves crashed into the boat we returned to the beach and put it back on along with bending the clasp so it would hopefully stay on.While sailing the rudder fell off two additional times. The first I was able to correct because I noticed it before it was fully off. While tacking a port tack the rudder fell of for the second time. This time I could not correct it before being flipped over about 200 ft away from the breaker wall at northwestern. I immediately flipped the boat back over and attempted to correct and fix the rudder before being flipped back over. Again I flipped the boat back over and tried to reattach the rudder. This time I was able to however I was still flipped over again because of the waves. At this point I had been struggling with the boat for about 5 minutes.I was exhausted from flipping the boat over twice and trying to swim with it in the opposite direction of the waves that were trying to bring the boat and myself into the wall. At this point I was in the water for over 10 minutes. During this entire process I was within 600 ft of the center. Surely one of the over dozen staff whose job and liability it is to keep members safe would have noticed? NOPE. I wisled and signeled for help but absolutely nobody cared. About a minute before I was about to abandon the boat a staff member who was already out and aware I was out came over with his speedboat. During this time I was struggling in the water I could have easily been crashed into the wall or drowned. After getting a level head on the entire situation another member of my family called to speak with the director Tie. He didn’t want to hear it and made it very obvious that it will not be until somebody dies at this center that he acknowledge they have major safety issues.I am willing to testify in that unfortunate situation.
