As a former student, I can attest that this website is an honest representation of what to expect in Sensei Becks class. His classes include history and philosophy as well as classical martial arts training but the real fun is in discovering how they all tie together. Advancement is hard earned but the fundamentals that you learn will stay with you for life.

My daughter is 12. She has been a student for two weeks. Sensei Norman Beck is so enthusiastic about his class and the students progress.Besides having over 40 years of experience he is a awesome man.He praises the students progress.He wont just let you get belts you train and you earn them.This is exactly what my daughter needed to boost her self esteem and self confidence. I would recommend him for anyone who wants to learn the art.👍

I trained with Sensei Beck for 5 years and found him to be very insightful. I had taken other courses but they focused on sports martial arts instead of real classical fighting systems that direct taught self defense. Glad to see he is teaching again.

After 13 years training under Sensei Beck and more than five years away from the martial arts, I never thought I would again be training with him. But in a surprise move, I am, and I am remembering why I *did* train for so many years with this particular class.Its as *real* as any martial arts program can be. I dont mean its street fighting or that everyone walks around constantly bowing to each other and ad-libbing bad Kung Fun movie lines and moves. But it is traditional martial arts with history and explanation as to from where techniques came, why they work, what the actual use of certain movements are... This is classical martial arts, where you earn your rank; you dont buy it. Its not-for-profit. The instructors arent paid; they teach because they believe in what they are teaching, and thats the best reason of all to both teach and learn what is being taught. Because what is being taught wont earn you points in competitions, but it could shape your demeanor, your attitude, your view of the world and yourself... and just may save yours or anothers life one day.

Sensei Norman Beck has a contagious passion, an eccentric demeanor, and an absolute wealth of knowledge. The class isnt simply a place to go and pick up a hobby, but an immersive experience that isnt unlike stepping into another culture. Norm is a gem of the tri-state area, and its great hes chosen to return to teaching.

Very different art, traditional practice of the ancient original art of kung fu , Okinawa karate, and ju-jutsu. Also classroom study of the arts, reason is you need to know what your studying and learning. Also weapon art. Very affordable trust me.. Ive been in various arts. My son and I will more likely enroll.

I studied with Sensei Beck about 5 years ago. I liked this system because it encompassed several arts (Karate, Jujutsu, Kung Fu, Kendo, Weapons). He has over 30 years experience in these arts and is able to adjust the styles and forms to accommodate an individuals challenges. Sensei Beck and the class also offered several rape prevention clinics with the participants being able to actually practice the moves using the class students. This was very educational for the participants and his students. These involved movements I have taught my daughters. Sensei Beck has a real passion for the martial arts and teaching those arts. Additionally he has a vast knowledge not only of the arts but of Eastern Religions and has lectured at local universities on these subjects. Now that I am now back studying under Sensei Beck I look forward to learning much more of the martial arts and the philosophy that goes along with them.
