A great little college to get a good education. Located just North of Evansville Indiana, USI has the hometown feel with a focus on modern learning.

USI is full of MONEY HUNGRY departments. The advisors try to make your schedule to where you have to stay additional semesters to pay more money. A lot of the teachers are TERRIBLE and students struggle, but the school never does anything about it even though we have an end of the year survey for us. They make us feel like we are contributing, but we aren’t. Students are treated as just a number, and if you are unable to pay a small amount of money, they will not let you apply for classes until it is paid, and they don’t care whether you get your education or not. I could go on about how USI is a terrible school and how a student should NOT come here. I’ve never had a worse experience before I started school here. I have had so many mishaps with the university as a whole, and I can’t wait to escape to a positive environment.

Too many handicapped spots in Lot J; even in third row. No motorcycle parking in Lot J. Not allowed to share unmarked spaces because of a 4-wheeler complaint. Must walk from BFE to class if parking in official mcycle spaces. 2 stars, because Ive enjoyed all three of the ECE classes - 241, 347, & 447.

Probably one of the few school campuses where Ive seen a dog attack a woman. There is also a group of wild cats and racoons that have the run of the campus. One of the few colleges Ive been to where they require students to take a gym class, but there is good reason for it. If you like your women several weight classes above your own, this place has quite a few. I graduated from here and went straight into bartending. It was all worth it.

I graduated with a bachelors degree in Computer Science from here... I learned more at my internships in a single year than my 4 years here. At the time I went, tuition was really cheap. I also worked for the school for a bit as student worker.I wouldnt recommend unless you want a cheap degree and thats all. Mind you, this is only for computer science. I cant comment on their nursing, engineering, business management, etc.I give it a 4 because of atmosphere, cost, location, and all the areas they have to run and bike! Their trails are beautiful. I would honestly give their CS program a 1 or 2 though.... I had a 3.75 GPA in CS btw

Civil Engineering undergraduate degree here is challenging and rewarding. They offer the same undergrad civil engineering and engineering mechanics courses available at larger universities at half the price. In addition, ALL of my engineering, math and physics classes and labs were taught by professors, not TAs. ALL engineering professors will go above and beyond to help you learn and achieve your goals! I would recommend this university to anyone who wants an undergraduate degree in civil engineering. Unfortunately the degree will not be engineering specific. It will read, Bachelor of Science in Engineering, regardless of your engineering major. They are working on becoming degree specific. Regardless, I would still attend this university again!

I have two daughters that attend USI. I have been very impressed with the advisors, especially in the nursing department. They have worked with my daughter through some hard years, allowed her to continue to press forward until she accomplished what she needed to get into the nursing program. She is now thoroughly enjoying the experiences she is having in clinicals and classes.Another area I want to share is how the counseling department, dean of students office and public safety cared for one daughter during a time when she was threatened. They worked quickly to protect her, give her the resources she needed and affirm her value as a person through some tough days.Financially affordable, quality education, caring people. Cant ask for much more than that!

My experience as a first year student is great. there is an open and accepting atmosphere for all. those who wish to come and share their beliefs and differences of opinion is welcome. There are groups for everyone to join and if you dont like and enjoy someone or a group you can simply remove yourself. there is alot of freedom given to students as well as ever rising standards of academics and character. All in all, if you want a place to express yourself, or just a quiet smaller university, there is something for everyone and anyone here, if you wish to make it that way.

I was able to buy my first Ferrari after working at USI for 1 year. Our extra fees are ridiculous. Keep paying us kids.. the casino like atmosphere keeps me coming to work every day.Public USI salaries published Spring 2018:1. Ronald Rochon = $221,8242. Steven Bridges = $196,4103. Mohammed Khayum = $174,5924. Cynthia Brinker = $173,8445. Ann White = $167,2376. Zane Mitchell = $161,7007. James Beeby = $151,1108. Brian McGuire = $147,2709. Andrew Wright = $147,27010. Mark C. Benhard = $144,950And those are just the top 10... there are many, many more above $100,000 that work here.

What is great about USI, is that no respectable employer will know this is literally one of the worst colleges in the United States. Therefore, even though a graduate, like me (class of 1999), learned nothing of value, employers will assume that USI is somehow connected to Indiana University. Now the positives. I actually made more money as a late night truck driver for the Evansville Courier, than my PHD professors made. I was told that these professors are paid hourly. In 1996, I made $12 an hour, some USI professors made less than $10 an hour. So, I always felt good these people were not the intelligentsia who can really pick winners & losers.Negatives, these teachers are very damaged people. When they discovered my mother was a PHD at UofL, I was put into a position of referral, then hammered on grades for not providing a referral.All-in-all, I was motivated to leave a review, because my bartender at Applebees tonight said she had a bachelors from USI. I, as well, have a bachelors.I lied, and somehow convinced my MBA college that USI was a part of IU. She just used her USI degree in Engineering to get a job, at Applebees, as a bar tending engineer.Maybe go to Ivy Tech

You want specifics? Von Loewenfeldt, Dr Paula, endorsed political candidates on election day in front of the entire class of impressionable students, saying,Im not supposed to do this so this is off the record.Dr. Matthew Graham promoted atheism to his students, explained how great cursing is, at one point said,The need for the military is questionable, while working in a job subsidized by the state to teach kids--uhhhh...well, that day we read a poem about a man jumping on a bar and sawing off his penis with a butter knife? He let us all know he was pro-abortion too. In a creative writing class, I fail to see why that is important, and it created a lot of tension. A lot. He repeatedly disrespected beliefs of those who possessed non-atheistic ideas.Lets see--I think advertising sex toy stores in the school newspaper when some kids who attend USI arent even 18 years of age is very, very questionable. I dont know if they still do--thats something that had been in their paper two years ago. Even if it was removed, the fact that someone looked that over and thought it was okay for students is shocking.Professor Mary Lyn Stoll stated lies about the US government and when some of us who knew the truth tried to respond, she made us shut up, saying we didnt want to get into a political discussion. In fact, Mr. Graham did similar things, sneaking his world view into discussions and when some students became very offended and tried to respond to his out-of-line comments, he told them this was not the class to do it in.Thats not even mentioning students who would scream at you if you did not agree with their politics. Hard to believe a school with all the government money coming in can only hire former hippies. This would not be a serious problem if not for the fact that so many students were very young and would believe anything their teacher told them. Id heard about college campuses corrupting kids, and Ive been associated with USI for over 30 years, but after attending myself, I have to say, its shocking. If you possess traditional values, please, please, do not send your children to this place. Its not worth taking a chance.
