My niece really wanted to go on a trail ride while she was visiting us this summer and I found Shadow Glen through a google search. We had a great time. All of the staff members were incredibly kind. They have animals on the farm and said we could stay for a picnic after- we will come back and do this when it is not 105 degrees outside! Our guides were great and it felt really safe for the kids.

Nice staff and great horses. Had a nice ride with friends for an hour.I would have liked to trot or run, instead of just walking, but Im not sure how that works.Ill definitely be back to visit again and maybe get a private ride, if thats an option.There was 5 of us and we all share the same opinion.

This was my first trail ride at Shadow Glen and I really had a wonderful time. It had been 8 years since I was last on a horse, and this was a great way to reintroduce myself to the magic of horseback riding!! Structured trail rides are not the most exciting thing as the horses are walking single-file, which keeps both the horses and riders safe, but they provide the opportunity to get outside and to enjoy the area and scenery, especially on a beautiful day! The stables are very nice and there are plenty of horses! The staff and trail guides are terrific. Very friendly and conscientious. There were six of us in the group and we had three trail guides accompany us. With everyone in the group having different levels of experience, most of us with none or very little, it was reassuring having the guides such close attention. They were also informative about the area we rode through and answering questions about our horses. Mine was named Cowboy and I think we formed a pretty good partnership over the two hour ride. I definitely plan to ride here again!!!

My daughter and I went on a horseback trail ride, everyone was way so nice and tour guy was great, he was kind enough to take pictures of all of us,we trailed along a lake and hills, it was beautiful, definitely going back.My horse was Stella and my daughter rode Pete, both beautiful horses 🐎 Thanks it was a great mothers day...

I went with my friend for a 2 hour ride. This was my first time. They chose a very calm horse for me. The staff are so very nice and Helpful. They really made my experience enjoyable. One lady told me that she helped train Ace and She really made me feel comfortable. I wish I knew her by name, but she’s was just awesome and I appreciate her.

My dad’s bucket list included “riding a horse one last time.” After I read about this stable and the reviews, my sister called the staff to set it up. The experience couldn’t have been better. We were not sure my dad would be well enough to ride, but I guess you can’t count an old cowboy out. He rode for about an hour and had a great time. Thank you to the staff for making this happen. He loved it!

We had a wonderful experience on our ride here this morning. Luke, our guide, was very professional and knowledgeable about the history surrounding the area. The property was very clean and the bathroom was immaculate. The owner is very kind and thoughtful. She called us a few days ahead to make sure she had all the right information to make sure my daughter and I had the best experience possible. I was a little nervous since I am 56 and its been 20 years since I have been on a horse. That only lasted for about a half a minute once I was on my horse, Pete. I will definitely be coming back!

I love this place. Its a lot of fun, especially for beginners. I bring all of my inexperienced friends here for their first rides. They really care for their horses and for their visitors, and it shows. Beautiful trails too. Staff are very friendly and all horses have great temperaments. Every single staff member I have ever spoken to cannot stop raving about how much they love their job, and I think that is amazing!!! Its what we all wish we had in a boss; so someone must really be doing something right for their employees.Lost 1 star because of the way they are explaining the rules in the beginning. Mainly, teaching people how to hold reins. Ive been riding my whole life... You just dont hold reins like that; you wont have any real control. Never in my entire life, even at 4 or 5 years old, have I ever been instructed to put a hand on the horn of the saddle. I laughed so hard at this. I understand these are trail horses that only walk along slowly. But lets teach new riders how to properly hold reins please. Also, they kind of seem to try to scare you into paying attention; bad plan. If something ever were to happen (which is funny to picture because these horses are calm, easy going retirees), you just struck more fear into these brand new riders by telling them how dangerous and scary horses are. The horses can sense that fear, so you are increasing the likelihood of what you are trying to prevent. If you drive a car every day, that is a lot more dangerous. Lets ease beginners minds a little rather than intensifying any concerns or fears they may have. It will end up better for everyone.That being said, its an absolutely great place to bring a friend who has never been on a horse and just wants to mosey along on a pretty trail. I will definitely be back for that purpose.

My husband and I had such a wonderful experience. Peaceful and beautiful scenic views with kind and patient staff to boot. Our horses were well mannered and gentle, so its a great place to bring your kids! The prices are very affordable for families and what a great way to create memories together. They also have a location in Quincy, CA.

If you haven’t already visited this location, you should probably put it on that bucket list! The peacefulness of the environment, I enjoyed very much! The staff were all very attentive, and delivered in every aspect of service!The manner in which staff communicated and handled the horses simply stole my heart! Please, give Mr. Pete my regards!

We rode today as a family. Laura was our guide. My son rode “ Rafael“ my daughter rode “ Blue chip“ my wife rode “Gayle” and I rode “ coyote“. It was absolutely amazing and we had a great experience. The staff was amazing and very professional. We felt safe and taken care of throughout the ride. We will definitely be coming back. We would have given them 10 stars if we could!! My daughters favorite place in the world is Shadow Glen!! They offer affordable sunset trail rides and so much more! Their trainers are exceptional, horses are well taken care of and so sweet!

I had my second trail ride here today and it was another memorable day! I went for a 2-hour trail ride with my husband for our anniversary last November and took my son on the 1-hour group ride today. They have such an organized system to get you registered, orientation complete, and match you with a horse suited to your experience. My 7 year old son has only been on a horse once before but with their help and supervision he felt confident and was able to manage the horse and only needed the trail guide’s assistance once or twice.If you want to have a memorable experience and enjoy beautiful scenery in the fresh air, it’s worth the trip! Recommend calling in advance since weekends are extra busy.

My daughter is participating in the kids camp and she absolutely loves it. Its a great experience for any child who is interested in horses. They cover anatomy, grooming and care, tacking, riding and of course, safety. A+.

This place rocks! Literally and figuratively. Coming from a city background I never thought I would enjoy going to a Stables but the people and experience proved me wrong. Ive been on three trail rides and my daughter takes weekly riding lessons. Terry, Lorri and staff make you feel right at home.

I went here to celebrate my birthday with a trail ride, which was really fun. However, at the beginning of my time here, where the group was being told how to hold the reins and steer, the instructor was rude to me because he thought I was not listening to him (I had briefly checked my phone) and referred to the person I was with as my mother, treating me like a child. I am 27. He then singled me out in front of the group and made a comment about how I should ride one of the donkeys. Im sure he thought it was all in good fun but we did not appreciate the remarks. Dampened my experience and now I am hesitant on going back.*please do not assume you know what someone is doing on their phone, or that they are not paying attention, there could be things happening that they need to be available for and check in on*

We brought our whole family out to ride, from experienced to first timers. The wrangler and volunteers were fun and experienced. We all had a fantastic time!

Terry was very informative, pleasant, and helpful. Stables are full of beautiful well maintained animals. We had a blast feeding the ducks, chickens, rabbits, goats, and of course horses! 🐔 🐐 🐎 🦆. The trail ride during the sunset was relaxed, well paced, and comfortable. Our trail guides were informative, funny, and generally fun to hang out with for the one plus hour we rode. We had such a great time we brought two more friends who hadnt road in 15+ years and they too enjoyed the experience. Thank you Shadow Glen Staff and Volunteers!

Great time enjoyed the ride and lessons from the wranglers... Everyone had a great sense of humor and you feel the family ties there in a good way. Will be going again cant beat the pricing.

Had an amazing experience here with my 7 year old daughter and a couple of her friends. I had no plans on riding (Ive never ridden a horse before), and was nervous, but it ended up being such a wonderful time! They back up to state land, so the trail ride goes near Lake Natoma. The horses were cooperative, and the guides were direct but nice. Id absolutely go again and will recommend to friends!

Very disappointing. They talk a good talk but don’t walk the walk. Spent close to 1,000 on privateLessons and had different teachers each lesson. First 1/2 hour was to refresh each trainer what my granddaughter knew so we only received 1/2 hour instructions with no tacking up included. Not enough trainers and spots available for private lessons so we went to group lessons. When I complained about no private lessons available I was told by Laurie in the office in a rude manner to go somewhere else if I wasn’t happy. Called and left a message for the owner to discuss who never returned my call. Learned more in group lessons thanks to Ray and Leah, great instructors and very respectful to the kids. It appears trail rides are Shadow Glen’s main interest and money maker and lessons take a back seat. No mask requirement by kids or trainers during pandemic and when they tack up they work closely with each other. I thank Leah for always masking up. Think twice before you invest your money, as mine was not appreciated and the safety during the pandemic for my granddaughter wasn’t either. Punishment for not tacking up their horse fast enough was pushups in the poop and urinated dirt.

1 hour trail ride is great for first time riders! I really enjoyed my horse, Houdini, who was very sweet and I definitely want to come back and request him for future rides! The trail guide was great, and very informative! Loved that he made sure everyone was fine and staying together!

When I first got there I was very pleased with how cute it is and the whole set up. When they brought out the horses I was disappointed to see that they were covered in dried mud. They say they groom them daily but the mud in my horses mane was caked in. Made it hard to even pet the horse when we were out on the trail. And the trail is almost all scattered with small river rock which looks a bit difficult for the horses to navigate through. The guides on the ride were fantastic but overall was disappointed and left feeling sorry for those horses.

Great time for me and my granddaughter. Great staff. Patient with us and fun. Well be back.

This place is amazing! I first heard about Glen Shadow from a friend who took her kids. My daughter and little sister loved it so much, we are going back for a third time within a two week period. Wrangler Matt was awesome! It was our first time riding EVER and Matt made us feel comfortable by explaining things in detail. Thank you Matt! We will definitely continue to go back!

Wow what an experience! We had a group for my sons 10th birthday, many of them first time riders. Needless to say they all had a blast. Staff was friendly, professional, and just plain awesome. Would definitely recommend this for a party idea or just something fun to do period. Thank y’all for the wonderful time!

Just came back from the hour trail ride at Shadow Glen and it was the best time! They have taken so many safety precautions during COVID and it shows! I felt very safe! So organized and such amazing customer service and the trail guides were wonderful!!! My boys and I had such a great time! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun adventure! We can’t wait to go back!

Very nice stable..we took a 2 hour ride, Wrangler Matt was very nice ..nice scenic relaxing ride ..would have gave 5 stars due to the fact we made it clear we were experienced riders and looking for a ride with more than a walk, the man we made appnt with insinuated we would get a good ride involving some trotting, eloping/ cantering. .but our guides horse never even made it to a trot..group involved just myself and my adult daughter..my horse Dakota was awesome, and my daughters horse Hollywood was great too..Great place for beginners, but if your looking for anything more than a walk, we didnt get that here ...but I still recommend for those looking for a nice scenic walk...

Kind and courteous place with nice guides

Been here more than once and have a wonderful time every time. The staff is friendly and teach about the horses and make sure you are comfortable before taking you out on the trail. If you have the time, go on the Sunset ride. Its a beautiful picturesque ride with a natural back drop of the sun setting against a water and woods background. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing time! We had 2 groups and the experience was great👍🏾 The staff were very nice and helpful, it was all of our first time horseback riding and the wranglers made us feel safe and comfortable. I highly recommend this place!

I highly recommend Shadow Glen for riding lessons and a exciting and enjoyable trial ride! My three grandkids started with private lessons , enjoyed so much they moved on to group lessons ! My daughter took me for Mothers Day at first I was nervous as all Outdoors because of a past bad experience! However, my time on the horse was amazing and the guy was just as awesome! I believe my horse was Tobias! Best horse ever!!! If I asked if I would recommend this establishment to others, absolutely

I took Valerie, grandaughter, and Shadoe, for the works today, they learned allott and we went out on trails for an hour and a half apx, so good for my soul, to be back in a saddle, I wound up leading out the trail ride, after talking with the ranch owner for just a minute before we headed out, highly recommend,, I will go back for sure, any one up for 2 or 4 he ride, wrangler Amber was great

I work there as a Jr. Wrangler over summer and I love every day of it! I love helping the kids that come for the horse camp learn how to groom and ride their horse. I also really enjoy taking people out for trail rides. Seeing the looks of joy and wonder on their faces makes my day, and the trails are amazing! I never get tired of any single trail. The Wranglers are really nice and patient with the little ones at camp (even with me and my near constant need of reminders for how to do something faster). This is a great place to go if you LOVE horses and spending time outdoors. I love every bit of it!

Had sOoOoOoOo much fun! When me + family went I saw BEAUTIFUL scenery. Tour guide, sorry I forget names easily, was amazing and nice. Our horses were easy going and not to difficult to ride, I wouldnt know I dont ride too often, and were great looking. Im sure that the owners take good care of the place/employees/horses and I look forward to going back soon as I live walking distance away.

It was a wonderful Mothers Day/ bucket list gift. I was really nervous it was my first time riding but the staff was so professional and kind. Awesome experience from beginning to end.

Took my Girl Scout troop recently...it was a great event. 1 hour of riding and 1/2 hour of grooming the horses. The girls loved it and the staff is fantastic. We are considering the camps.

First time rider so I took the works package. It included a half hour of grooming the horse a short lesson and a one hour trail ride. I had such an amazing time I am now taking lessons

Pretty run down. Basically following worker on owners 5 acres... owner also was on guided ride. Not very friendly or personable. Honey bucket bathroom not kept up. Just not at all professional feeling.

Best place to board your horse!! The owners and wranglers are very knowledgeable and friendly. Plus, miles and miles of incredible trails.
