I first met Frank when I was serving in the Army and dabbling in dog mushing on the weekends with a mutual friend. We got to know each other over the next few years, often on some winter trail while Frank was calmly taking photos and I was trying not to fall off a dogsled. The friendship endured after I left Alaska, and I’ve since had the opportunity to experience Frank and Miriam’s hospitality multiple times at their scenic home on Nepal Drive. I know that their guests for tours and aurora photography workshops are given the same warm welcome, and I can personally attest to Frank’s dedication to his craft. To anyone looking to hone their photography skills or experience Alaska at its best, I highly recommend paying Frank and Miriam a visit.

Participated in the advanced aurora photography class and had the best time. Frank and his wife are so warm and inviting. They definitely know their stuff. Even though the forecast was not great, we managed to get some really good shots. Definitely recommend.

Just returned back from a visit with Frank and Miriam, and I have to say it went well beyond my expectations! Frank and Miriam are so warm and welcomed us into their home, they gave us so much food and drink and regaled us with tales form Germany! It felt like visiting with old friends. And a bonus, we actually did see the northern lights! Frank taught us well how to photograph them and he even took pictures with his own camera for us! I cannot recommend them enough, am already planning on visiting them in the summer the next time I go back to Fairbanks!

We had a great time with Frank and Miriam on Christmas day. A very relaxed and productive evening. We were a group of 8, with grandparents and 3 year olds, all enjoyed the time.Frank is very knowledgeable on Aurora and night photography. My daughter had her first real photography class and even with a KP3, we still got some great photos.We highly recommend Aurora Bear. With Aurora being very unpredictable, at least you will have great company and do some night photography.

Frank and Miriam are the best hosts and Frank is an amazing photographer and teacher. Have visited with them twice and our first visit the Aurora show was extremely weak - but we were kept entertained! Their story on how they came to be Aurora Bear is a dream come true for them. I wouldnt go anywhere else!!

This viewpoint is good for find out Aurora but more convenient facilities are needed. Usually for Package tourists.
