My brother and I took an introductory class to get an understanding of Brians teaching style and studio in the beginning of the year. We both enjoyed the class and felt that we learned a lot. What was unique about his studio is that the class size is small and the schedule is flexible.

Brian is an excellent instructor who makes learning practical and fun. He is great with me, as an adult, as well as with my 12 year old daughter. We have been learning with Brian for a year now and we are happy to have found him. His teaching techniques are fantastic, his prices reasonable, and his studio is great. I highly recommend Brian for your martial arts and self defense needs.

Brian Auger is a professional with a passion for his work which is evident by the dynamism he brings to his work. I started with a free session in the art of self defense. Brian started right on time and after a thorough discussion of the course, he went right into teaching me the methods I would use to defend myself and demonstrated several moves with me. Brian is an amazing instructor and can help turn anyone into a fighter. He can do plenty of sessions for cheaper than public studios but more effective than most out there. I never thought about doing martial arts until after trying one session with this amazing instructor!

My two teenage daughters attended a self defense class with Brian in June 2019. I sat in the class and was impressed with his effective teaching method using a three pronged approach.First, he prepared them mentally by talking about situational awareness, flight vs fight mentality, lethal vs non- lethal force, and the different types of personal security gadgets in the market today.Second, he demonstrated commonly used attack and grab tactics and how to fend these off.Third, he asked the girls to perform a return demonstration, practicing the techniques he taught them repeatedly and receiving corrective feedback for improvement.After the class, he emailed a recap of everything he talked about and even suggested other reference materials that can help us review what was just learned. I found Brian to be an effective communicator and passionate teacher who owns a clean and well maintained studio in a nice neighborhood.A self defense class with Brian will be a thoughtful birthday or high school graduation gift that will have a lasting impact on any young woman’s life.

Instructor Brian is very knowledgeable in his field. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to get started in tae kwon do, hapkido and most especially self-defense. The prices are very reasonable too in a private one-on-one setting.

I have been training in Hapkido and/or Taekwondo with Master Auger for roughly 1.5 years at the Korean Martial Arts dojang in Gaithersburg, MD, where he volunteers on Monday evenings to lead classes in those arts. Master Auger is particularly adept at small-joint locks and has also helped me grasp various redirection-of-force concepts that I’d been struggling with. The highly individualized and affordable training being offered at his personal studio in Northern Virginia would be a great way to pick up some useful martial arts skills from an enthusiastic practitioner!
