My youngest son turns 18 months in about 3 days. We enrolled both of our boys when they first opened in July 2021. My oldest son is one month shy of being three years old.It was really scary for us to let someone who isn’t family watch our sons. We had a nanny when my oldest was an infant and he was neglected, causing months recovery that mostly made him have difficulty eating and feeding himself.Well, everything was going wonderful at the school. My oldest son loved it and very soon came out of his shell. He was talking, and eating on his own. His teachers obviously love him and that showed through in his happiness to get to class everyday, his speech, and his overall demeanor. The same could not be said for my younger child Leo.We immediately noticed that his teacher didn’t really like him much. Her movements when we brought him to school were cold and abrupt, her body language was discontent and irritated, and she seemed like an overall angry person. One time, I brought Leo in late because he fell the night before and chipped his teeth, so I had to take him to the doctors office. We were two hours late, and I let them know the night before, and bis teacher was angry with us. She sighed very heavily and was very inconvenienced. Both my sons bite. My oldest did it when he couldn’t talk and my youngest bites because he is teething, hungry, or mad. All these things I shared with the director before I ever enrolled them in school.Leo started biting his classmates pretty regularly. He is physically as advanced and bis molars started coming in at 15 months. Without him being able to talk, and his constant pain, he would bite his classmates. The other parents complained, I guess they have perfect children. I tried everything. I bought him extra teethers to wear, i took his paci, then gave it back, medicine, always teaching at home that it hurts, but nothing worked. On one of his last days, his teachers told me be bit himself and he had a mark. There is no way that my son would bite himself. He has never self harmed ever. I knew then that other students were biting/ pestering my son and he was defending himself. The day they kicked him out he “fell” on the concrete and busted his head. I was told that “it wasn’t a big deal” and “not to worry.” I go to pick him up and I’m told he bit again and that he has been kicked out of school. His head was bleeding but somehow, they didn’t seem to care.I was a daycare teacher all through college and 2 years after. 6 years and I was never in a class where a child was kicked out for biting. I can count on my hand the number of times a baby was faster than me and my two coworkers and bit another child. The saddest thing is, my oldest son was truly thriving and really misses school. Asks to go all the time and it breaks my heart. If your child isn’t perfect, Goddard might not be the school for them.
