Great karate school for kids and adults

Some of the most rude and unprofessional people ever. Asked if the offer teen self defense classes and got ridiculed and then got ridiculed again 2 weeks later without me even saying a thing to them. I attached the 2 photos of the emails.

I have known Kevin for almost 40 years and have worked and trained with him during that time, and I can honestly say he is one of the strongest, most proficient and honorable practitioners I have ever met. You see I am one of the original Big Four (along with Kevin) and that is a bond never to be broken. I studied with Sensei Cullen amost 20 years ago and have still managed to maintain his teachings through muscle memory to this day. Instant recall in times of trouble before I can even think about it. His teaching really sticks to your ribs and I find him personally to be a Renaissance man and one of the coolest people I know. Grand Master Cullen is one of the top martial artists in the United States and the best in Ohio. Cullen Sensei taught me much more than just how to defend myself. I also learned practical techniques such as, how to jump and roll from a bus because you never know when you are going to slip and fall on icy winter sidewalks. He taught me much needed balance and confidence. Thank you very much Master Cullen.

Sensei Kevin is one of the kindest most disciplined person Ive ever met. He teaches that kindness and self-discipline and makes you a part of his family. He lives what he teaches. His dojo has a friendly atmosphere and you always feel welcome. I highly recommend his Academy for all ages.

I do not train at the academy of martial arts studies but Hanshi Cullen is a great teacher and good friend of mine! He has let me come in and work out with his students and gave me tips for tournaments!! I recommend him if you live in Findlay.

This is THE place to study karate in Findlay, Ohio. Haanshi Kevin Cullen is one of only a handful of white men who can legitimately wear the title soke, and you wont find a more qualified teacher. His ability and knowledge are superb, and his ability to teach every student where that student currently is--whether young, old, novice, or experienced--is outstanding. He and his staff have managed to create a dojo that feels like a second home, where you can learn comfortably, fail safely, grow rapidly, and become a better version of yourself.

It was great to know that Sensei Kevin Cullen to have personally invited me to watch my boyfriend steven Robison to practice with the other black belts in an only black belts camp. So I moved into northwest Ohio towards the end of 2011 from Los Angeles where I practiced a handful of martial arts and had a few fights in the ring.. came here with intentions on training towards continuing a fighting career and found myself at The Academy of Martial Arts Studies deciding to check it out there, maybe get some traditional arts in my tool belt.. fast forward 6 years and I find myself with new intentions. This place brought so much to my life being that I came in just looking to get some fights and learn a different art and now Im a life long student of Goju! Take it from me as someone whos trained in Boxing, Muy Thai kick boxing, BJJ, and have a strong background in collegiate and Greco Roman wrestling... This is by far the deepest art Ive been able to experience! The fight logic, the discipline, the strengthening of character... Top notch. A lot has to do with Hanshi Cullen and the knowledge he has in the art..You gotta get passed his a.d.d to reap the fruit of his teachings... It may take some time (and I swear its almost intentional to test your fortitude or something..) but I garantee its worth it. I now truly just find myself looking to grow in the Art taught here and want to grow more into my Goju roots!I know I tend to get long winded but I want anyone looking to take up martial arts to hear it from someone whos been part of this dojo for 6 years now and has been awarded with a 1st degree black belt from Hanshi Cullen, its the right place to be!

Well, as the owner and a lifelong practicioner of Ateru Goju Ryu Karate Jutsu (in my 43rd year) I guess I can comment as I am not just the chief instructor but also a lifelong student. Training in goju has changed my life in so many pertinent and amazing ways. I am afflicted with OCD, ADHD and a host of other ailments that can slow, debilitate or hamper a persons ability to learn, react and cope with life. IN training I have found a strong inner peace that acts as an oasis when I get frustrated with the world around and the people in it. It has given me a Magnifying Glass for Life that has allowed me to channel the above listed deficits and as a result graduate from University with a double major in just 6 semesters with a 3.9 cum, get through grad school with my masters and currently powers me through my first year of pre-law in my quest to become a Doctor of Juris within 4 years. It has also been there to defend myself when needed in real life street attacks. I love teaching and training at the Academy and at age 60, if it werent for my training my health and wellbeing quotient would be much much much lower. Give it a try!
