I love training at Sleeping Lion Martial Arts and so do my kids! The Wilson familys passion and dedication to the arts is inspirational. They really put their hearts into it. The facility is beautiful, clean and very spacious. We have enjoyed all that Sleeping Lion has to offer and highly recommend it!

I enjoyed my experience Im an older woman. the care and respect they treated me with, was heart worming. Walked me through each step at my learning ability, so Im positive the same care is shown to all ages. take the time, go check things out for yourself.You will not be disappointed .

Our daughter has been taking classes at Sleeping Lion Martial Arts Studio for more than 7 years. She loves it there. The instruction in Martial Arts and the respect and other lessons taught provide a comprehensive experience that we find very valuable. The Sleeping lions martial arts school has enabled me to grow as person , both mentally and physically but most of all spiritually, such experience is life changing, I believe that through martial arts one can discover who they are as a person or perhaps even better themselves. In retrospect I have observed my journey through the martial arts school and its methods and disciplines have influenced my moral conduct outside of the confines of the martial arts school itself, in life we all must makes choices because choices are what defines us as people and its not who we are underneath but again its our actions that define who we are as person and ever since I have joined the sleeping lion martial arts school, it has bestowed me with clarity when being confronted with morally complex situations and also to have the ability to believe in the best of people everyday even if they are strangers as well as being brave and courageous in the face of adversity.The teacher or instructor of the school is very respectful and mindful of his students and is willing to challenge them in order to be successful in the school and in life, his stories about the ancient backgrounds or moral philosophies of the martial arts have swayed me further into the knowledge of the fighting arts themselves as well as the minds of the great and wise grandmasters that have came before, the people (or students) are incredible and charismatic people to the extent that I would call them family, I am honored to attend this school and to work alongside its practitioners and students.

This is the best martial arts school in Northern Arizona. My family and I researched and tried out other schools in Flagstaff before we found Sleeping Lion. Grand Master Wilson has developed a very holistic curriculum based around Hapkido. Its a very practical and effective system for real-world self defense.Best of all, Sleeping Lion has age-appropriate classes for everyone. My kids are in the youth program and are learning so much and having a great time. Ive seen their skills develop and their self confidence has skyrocketed! Sensei Nina Wilson runs the youth programs and she is excellent!The adult classes are amazing. Both Master Nelson and Grand Master Wilson are superb instructors. They are very good at paying attention to the strengths and weaknesses of their students and working with each of them to achieve their goals. Both weapons and empty hand classes are interesting and jam-packed with useful teaching.

Awesome. I have been training at Sleeping Lion for 9 years. I started in the Itty Bitty Lions Class and am now in the Big Kids class. I really like training with all the other kids and the teachers make learning fun.

I was a complete beginner when I first signed up with Sleeping Lion. And throughout my years there, this place has encouraged me to grow not only as a martial artist, but as a human being as well. I have trained all over the place in just about every style you can name and I have to say that this school is, and forever will be, my home.I love Sensei and Master Wilson, they are a privilege to train under. The atmosphere is always welcoming, from the second you step onto the mat for the first time, until your dying day, you are treated like family.This place has really opened my eyes to martial arts, health & fitness, and SO much more.I will continue my journey with martial arts forever, and I have this place to thank for that.Ill be leaving soon, and Ill have to find another place to train; but I will always come back, and no matter how long Im gone, I know that Ill be welcomed with open arms as if I never left.Thanks Sleeping Lion!

I have been training with Grand Master Wilson for over four years. I am less than a year from earning my Black Belt in Hapkido. We work on self-defenses that uses joint locks, grappling and throwing techniques. The instruction is not limited to just Hapkido. We practice kicks, punches, grappling, submission holds, weapons, and other striking attacks.Hapkido emphasizes using the opponents energy against them by redirection of force and eventual control of the opponent. I have two daughters who also have been training at Sleeping Lion Martial Arts. We chose this form of Martial Arts because anyone can use this training to control and end a confrontation safely.

This place is like a second home to me. Its helped me grow physically and mentally, without an air of competition, over the past seven years. Its truly an honor to be able to train with Grandmaster Neil Wilson more than once a week!I have learned wing chun, jiu jitsu, tae kwon do, boxing, aikido, traditional weaponry, kali stick and knife fighting, gun disarming, brick breaking and more . . . as well as hapkido, Sleeping Lions main style.The training environment is mainly external, unless, you dig deeper and find the internal aspects.The practices consist of everything from forms to hands on sparring. There is a martial arts buffet, all you can eat, so stop by and get your fill.
