As a student, I enjoyed the relatively small campus size. This made the majority of my classes within walking distance of each other. Depending on the courses, class sizes can range from twenty students in a class room to seventy students in a lecture hall. I highly value my education from this university.

I have been going here since Fall of 2014, and my experience has been good so far. They have a good selection of programs to choose from. My academic advisers have helped me stay on track with completing courses that align with my program. I do like that I have to meet with an academic adviser before registering for classes for each semester I attend. It helps me remain mindful of my program responsibilities. Class sizes are desirable; they have not been too big, as teachers are usually able to meet with students one-on-one for in-class help. Teachers usually care to make students feel like an important part of class. There are a lot of campus organizations and activities to be involved in, so students are bound to find something interesting to join. The campus works to ensure that students have a culturally inclusive and safe experience with them. On the other hand, I sort of feel like the campus partially lacks a strong community-focused presence. Maybe this is because it is a commuter school.

I am a Go Blue person and have always loved UM. With more than 5 family members having attended and graduated from UM-Flint, you could say it is in our blood. The professors that I have had have always been nice and have really taken the time to invest into their students. Advising though has been a bit disappointing and I feel that they could offer more help at times. The Financial Aid Office is great- ask for Dexter! He is the best!

I received my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Michigan-Flint, and if it were not for the mathematics department here, I would not be where I am at now. All of the faculty here have been very courteous and helpful, and have given me the resources I need in order to be a successful person. This is a great alternative for students who do not wish to pay the big bucks at Ann Arbor, yet want the same quality education. As others have said, the social life here isnt the greatest, but there is still plenty to do. The campus is also conveniently located near area shopping and restaurants, in case students have extra time on their hands.

School of Management -Great instructors, small class sizes (average:18-30). The instructors care about their students success, and regularly make themselves available for students needs. Also, very non-traditional, as most students are the University work full time, have families, and other priorities. Great college.

By no means is this school perfect, but is any school truly perfect? Im a freshman at UM-Flint and absolutely love it here. If you are looking for a very busy social life, this isnt the school for you. Its mainly a commuter college. Although, it offers a wide range of sororities and fraternities. And there are many clubs on campus, you just have to get involved. If one is looking for a good education and small classes sizes, this school fits that image 100%. Teachers are passionate, which makes learning that much easier.

There some positives, but overall the quality of education is very low. If you are looking for a quality degree In CESP, ignore their sales pitch and strongly consider Oakland U or Michigan State. You are not getting the U of M Ann Arbor education here, you will be getting U of M Flint education. Flint is definitely not a college town, but campus is kept safe. Definitely need a vehicle.

My experience has been rather bitter sweet. I have met some people that I enjoyed being around, and some others I really wish I never met in my life. Do not stay in First Street Residence, If you dont want to be irrationally judged. To describe vividly, this campus is like a peaceful island surrounded by a man eating ocean, take it from me, try not to be too adventures or you might find yourself in a whole lot of insanity. Given all the chaos, I found it extremely interesting how the locals here are sanguine about prospects for their locality. So, for those people, I say Go Blue. Its a good commuter school, but otherwise just a zombieland. If you wish to have an apocalyptic experience, that may or may not scar you for life, dont hesitate to join ASAP.

A decent school to simply get a degree. But beware, the majority of the information youre going to be teaching yourself. There are a few good teachers in CSC program but not many.

This is an okay school as long as you have no intentions of dealing with their financial aid office. They like to change information without consulting the students. For example, if you apply for a private student loan for spring semester while it is the winter semester, when it is approved and provided to the school, they assumed it was a winter semester loan and changed it to process for the WRONG semester. Another example is if you are a half time student but LAST FALL you were 3/4, they will change your enrollment status to 3/4 and then with hold your financial aid until YOU submit a revision for THEIR change. I HATE that office. Up to this point thats my only complaint.

Let me count the ways I hate thee...UM Flint aspires to be a top school in the area. It has many programs in which one could major. Unfortunately they fail in actually helping students achieve the goal of graduation. Classes are offered sporadically, therefore if you are not on the right class cycle you could end up waiting a year or more to take a class you need to graduate. The advisors are inattentive and some times never get back to students. When you are able to see an advisor they dont know what they are talking about and provide little help. The whole goal of their scheme is to keep you in school as long as possible. They also raise fees every single year. Avoid attending this college at all costs.

The lack of information that I wasnt taught is astounding. I was not prepared for my career nor the tests that I need to pass and I probably couldve done a better job teaching myself while paying myself the $13,000 a year. Now I still have to teach myself.Was going to give 1 star but gave 2 stars for the education program because they were the only shining light. Dr. Knight and Mr. Duso are amazing.If you want a U of M education, go to Ann Arbor. UMF is a joke dont waste your time or your money.

I earned my undergraduate degree from here. There is a lot of passion here, both from students and staff, but it may not seem that way at first glance. If you put in the effort, you will get back double from the professors.

Terrible professors. To be specific, Prof. Washington, an english professor here at the UM- Flint. I do not recommend anyone to enroll in any of her courses.

I am a Physical Therapy Graduate Student at UM-Flint. I did my undergraduate studies at Grand Valley State University. I also worked in the labs with the DPT students at GVSU and I find there are some slight differences, good and vice versa. First lets start off with the campus, UM-Flint is located in Flint, yes, however it has a beautiful campus, with a flowing river splitting the sides of the campus. I find the running water from the damn very soothing, and a place where you can relax during your breaks. The White building-Health Professions buidling, is relatively new, and is undergoing some great changes, new floors, rooms, making it more compatible as the H-professional program expands. Grand Valley also has a beutiful campus, although it is lacking the water on the Allendale campus. I really enjoy my studies here at UM-Flint because unlike GVSU, there is not a competition between classmates to do well. This makes going to class everyday something fun and enjoyable to do. There are a few minor downsides, printing is not a free for all, you are given 600 printing credits per semester, whereas at GVSU you had unlimited printing. This rarely poses an issue because most of our lectures are PPT and are usually 90 slides or more, so it makes it more convenient just to study from your computer or from study guides from the PPT. We are tested on material that flys over our heads sometimes, and some of our classes are very difficult. Granted Some are very easy. The professors for the DPT are top notch, and they come from a variety of backgrounds, including, Oakland University, University of Illianois Chicago, from owning their own clinic, too having experience as a PT in the military. Most of all they want to see you succeed, and will do whatever it takes to get you there. The rest of the work is on you, as a graduate program should be. Be prepared to study 20+ hours for a test, and settle for a 70-85% grade. That is the typical norm. There is just too much information to get it all at once, and is the reason why we have classes that cover the same material, albeit it always includes a more information on the topic than the previous class. Yes, the clinical experience is not until the end of your 2nd to 3rd year, haha many of us over ride this issue ust by volunteering at PT clinics close by, such as the Wellness center in the WHite building, or at other clinics that are close to home. We also serve the community of Flint through our Pro Bono clinic-PTHEART. This is a new and expanding clinic, that provides free PT services to the community. We also make a presence at local high schools, physical exams and such, etc. In terms of things to do, if you like working out, running, or getting outside, Grand Blanc is an amazing place to live. There is the Holly Recreatino center close by, the bicentenial park for the quick 5 mile jog, and plenty of other entertainment, IMAX theater, and many bars and such. There is also the Flint performing arts center, where tickets can cost around $12 per student, and the crowd they draw in, is top notch. SO, yes we are in Flint/ Grand Blanc, however, I find there is much more to do than I found on the Allendale Campus, albeit at GVSU there was plenty to do downtown, except that in Flint everything is affordable, and in GR most everything is expensive. Like them both, and glad I had the opportunity to live on the West side of the State. I do miss the beaches though. Hopefully this helps anyone looking at Applying to the DPT program here at UM-FLint.

I have been to the U of M- Flint, Oakland University and Central Michigan University. Central does not have nursing at all. They might get it when their Medical School opens but not yet. Also, Um-Flint does not have to do with Ann Arbor and there might be some people that say it is not compared to ANN Arbor,But I transferred back from CMU to UM-Flint. I know a lot of kids up at CMU were coming to UM-Flint. And my sister-in-law came back to um-flint from Michigan state. UM-Flint has great ratings in the united states, the standers are just as challenger as Ann Arbor but it is cheaper because you are not paying for all the sport teams and this campus is more for non traditional college students. Like I had a family, my father is at um-flint at 40 and he would not fit into Ann Arbor. But it still gives some campus life for the students that want that just downed sized from Ann Arbor. Your degree does say UM-FLINT. But it is better then CMU. And the business staff are a lot better then CMU and the Teachers are just as great as OK,CMU and MSU. If safety is your problem then dont take night classes, but keep in mine CMU had a lot of safety issues too. Its expected being on any campus. AND MICHIGAN HAS A GREAT EDUCATION system I learned that when I moved to GA!!!
