I use to think this school was for the students, but its not. As many people in the world know I am an advocate for my children. I was the lady who fought for my child to be tested because a doctor was unwilling to test my child for the very disease that she ended up having, which caused her to get worse and end up in a wheel chair. I am a very active parent and I am involved in the school. This years experience no child or parent should ever have to experience. My child was bullied and currently still being bullied, assaulted, harassed, and dealing with discrimination at South Side Middle School. My daughter was the little girl who had just overcome dealing with a neurological disorder, and she went from walking to wheelchair and back to walking again. Now she is dealing with daily bullying, harassment, and discrimination and the school is trying to cover it up. I had sent letters, emails, and physically went up to the school to rectify the situation. On April 12, 2018 I went up to the school to do the same. I watched as my daughter sat in fear of another student and her crew.Known bullies! I watched them threatened her outside, and after telling the principal nothing was done to the girls, but retaliation was done to my daughter and I. 2 days later I was arrested. The same bullies had lied along with there buddies and said I threatened to blow up the school, that I threatened them and there parents, that I caused a scene etc. The only problem is the cameras at the school doesnt show this at all, it shows me talking to my child only. Finally they took the word of someone unfortunately it was just the word of the bullies. The next school day they went around the school taunting my daughter with how I was arrested and that I blew up the school etc. Mugshots shown etc. The school gave them a pass to taunt my child even further. Today May 7, 2018 almost a month later one of the bullies friends hit my daughter with a bookbag, stuck up her middle finger and propositioned her to a fight. They gave these children a smoking gun to bully my daughter even further. My daughter no longer trust the adults at this school and how can I change her mind when I dont either. I guess this was there tactic to stop us from reporting how my daughter is harassed, taunted, bullied, discriminated due to her disability. The only problem is I will not give up. My child has a right to go to school and be mentally and physically safe. She has a right to have me advocate for her even if the school wants to turn its back on her, and lie. Its time for kids to stop killing themselves, dropping out, or feeling like no one at school cares because schools will not do anything about kids being harassed, discriminated, bullied, or taunted for a disability or not a disability....I am tired of having to stop my day to report this kind of behavior. Its time to do something about this.

The gyms uncleanliness terrified me. The hallways are well kept.

I will update this as the experience has just begun, but this registration process is ridiculous, time consuming, and inefficient. I find the staff friendly and apologetic for the waiting and the lack of personnel available to register new students. Even with notice they cannot have someone available to register new students. Im very disappointed in the disorganized nature of the process.
