I graduated in 2000. It is nothing now like it was 20 years ago. It was legit boot camp. No going home AT ALL unless medically necessary or family emergency. Could not even call home for the first 60 days. Getting smoked at 3am running miles when in trouble. True military style BUT now with this new generation of softies, and people that get offended over ANYTHING, it was forced to be not as strict. Dont blame the program, blame this new generation of softies and the parents that raised them.

Jeeze. Where do I even start? First off. This academy isnt a real academy. And dont be fooled by the youll be taken a GED test but would be rewarded a High school Diploma. Yea, thats true. Youll get a High School Diploma but what they dont tell you is that its equivalent to a GED. Its a tier 2 diploma. So the military would see it as a GED and so would other places if they look into it .It only says High school diploma bc NJ doesnt give GEDs. But acclamation phase. It was the worst, they had us sit and eat in the floor. Never have i ever been treated like a dog. They decided to bring desks in mid program. But only 13 per platoon. They said how acclamation there would ve group punishment and then after, theyll do individual. That was a lie too. Throughout the program I got punished bc of other peoples rude comments or bc ppl dont want to be quiet. We were all forced to eat outside in the cold (because I was wibter class) bc we were 2 minutes late bc the cadre wanted to hold us back bc of a hand full of the SAME cadets keep acting up. Why couldnt he make those few cadets late? They dont kick out cadets for acting up. So all of the good cadets had to deal with terrible ppl bc the academy didnt do anything about them. They always say change would happen but rarely would ppl get kicked out. We lost a lot of good cadets who deserved to be in this program and suceed because they didnt want to get rid of the bad kids. I understand they believe theyll change but if they dont act right constantly for 2 months. Theyre not gonna change. They arent strict on us at all. And they gotta be. This program is sooo backwards. I only stayed bc I wanted to graduate, but it was only hard bc of the same cadets. Its always the same, people and they did nothing about that theyll just write them up but write ups dont do anything at all. This place needs some more work. I went there and there was no discipline .There was only discipline if commandant was around but thats only bc shell make us be disciplined or else shell make the program difficult for us. A lot of times people felt unsafe because of the lack of authority there. They lied about A lot. Director talking about some 98% pass rate GED test is on an 8th grade level no way did 98% of those people pass. They dint prepare you for the test. Its basically just review. They lied and lied and lied. Saying highly disciplined environment, no. Not at all .People have no discipline there. The academy was on base and we made ourselves look like absolute fools in front if other soldiers. Especially at the chow hall where we ate at. They blame us for not being able to go on cool trips. Or get special things when really its them to blame. If they wouldve done what they said and kicked out all the thick headed cadets in the beginning. This academy would be sooo much better. You wouldnt even get kicked out for smoking .So many people got caught smoking towards the end. Theyll find contraband on people and write it up. But again, write ups dont do anytbing. In the beginning, if you caught then you git kicked out .Towards the end. Cadets had like 3 strikes or else theyll get kicked out. And again. Its always the bad kids getting into fights. I just wish I can say I didnt waist my time. But I completed 5 1/2 months of hell. Yea Im proud that I succeeded well .But this place needs some work done. Like, some serious work. Youll have to go through it to see how its really like. Its just too hard to explain. But they really did treat us like dogs in the beginning. Making us eat on the floor. There was many times where I couldnt even defend a friend or else ill get ganged up on .Gang activity still happens here. And they do nothing about it but write them up. There was no authority here. No discipline. And ppl were on their own program. I dont recommend this place endless you know for sure they changed. Which would be hard bc theyre good at lying. They really made me think that this was gonna be like boot camp. It was nothing like boot camp. not at all

I went here when I was 16,Graduated, and hated it. Swore Id never join the military because I hated being punished for other peoples actions. Joined the Navy at 18, and realized how much this prepared me for the real thing haha bootcamp was a breeze and now Im a USN Veteran with awesome benefits! Worth every minute.
