Zero stars for people that should be ashamed of themselves.Nice to know what kind of school Winthrop Charter School in Riverview, FL really is. I got a call from the Principal, wondering if my child should be going there. He was accepted months ago. They read his IEP, and Dr’a letter (he does have ADHD). I was informed that if he has issues they do not have or be willing to provide resources for him and with a no tolerance policy he would be withdrawn from there. This is my 5 year old son supposed to be starting kindergarten, but I was encouraged to not bring him to Winthrop. I am keeping this clean and honest, but discrimination is not right on any level. An educational institution turning a kid away without ever meeting him or him stepping foot on campus is deplorable. Winthrop doesn’t deserve my son.

My son is attending Coral Spring Campus and has brought home some of his art work and it is amazing. I ask who, what, how and all he said was Ms. Cruz the Middle School Art Teacher: showed him, help him to create this wonderful piece of art. My hat is off to Ms. Cruz for a wonderful job she did with my son. I have another child going through that school in a couple of years hope he gets her too.

I would give them no stars if possible. These schools are not schools, they are businesses. All about the numbers. A crooked business. My child attends a Tampa Charter School. They bathroom stalls have had the locks removed as punishment. The children are held back in class from going to lunch as punishment. The teachers are constantly SCREAMING at the children. Middle school students are threatened by the PRINCIPAL that he will take away every elective class and lunch time to force the children to take online learning programs so the schools ratings and scores will raise. The principal will also threaten the children that he will fail every child , regardless of their real grades, if they do not OBEY his rules. Its disgusting. Theres no field trips for the students, there are no lockers, no after school programs or activities. There are no assistance programs for low income or single parent/income families. There is no organization. There is no transportation for the children. The assistant principal cant even use proper spelling or grammar in her weekly emails. The schools money from fundraisers is mismanaged. The students bully each other in the same way the teachers and staff do to the students. The list can go on and on. This is a corrupt corporation, that teeters a fine line on verbal/emotional child abuse, and if the county had anything to do with these tuiton free private schools, they would obviously be investigated as well as shut down. Our children are the future of this world, THIS corrupt business that calls themselves a school is inflicting nothing but negativity, threats, and a sub par education on the thousands of children enrolled in each of their overpopulated charter schools. What an absolute disgrace.

I dont believe children should be in a school thats plumbing is broke. Our children should have working restrooms. We attend Renaissance Charter School at Chickasaw. They went all day without a working restroom. They have also went to school with leaking roof.

The Company does not get the credit it deserves because of the political nonsense about funding. In reality CSUSA has long wait lists and people ask me all the time if I can help their kids get in. The ESE dept. is more attentive to the kids than many other schools both public and private. As a teacher at the school, I can vouch for the fact that we are held to a very high standard and the idea that we teach whatever we want is pure idiocy. Any community with a CSUSA school is very lucky!- Mrs. Sears

Stay away!!!! My 2 girls have been in at Cape Coral Charter School since kinder. Now The oldest is going to 9th grade (high school) and the youngest to 6th grade (middle school). I truly regret not changing my kids from this school years ago. I kept them here all these years for their stability. School choice also makes the move very difficult. But the truth is that they would have excelled more academically in a Lee county school as opposed to this charter. Many of the teachers here are not happy, they are over worked and under paid. In 1 year my child has gone thru 3 different teachers. I have also met 4 different principals!! My girls have had a couple of amazing teachers but the good ones don’t stay they leave! And it refelects on the kids. They are not learning to their fullest potential. Most kids come out of this school below grade level and scoring very low on state exams. They will not be ready for middle school or high school! This charter school is also the cheapest school around. They dont have any electives or programs such as Spanish! We had a great coach that started many sports programs 2 years ago but he is now leaving as well. This school will now go down hill again without him. After having my kids here all these years the least I expected was a graduation and prom for my 8th grader to celebrate this important milestone. This school is so cheap all they have done for these graduates is a 1 hour bowling party in which the school already had a field trip planned for same day with the kinder kids, the new principal thought it was cute to have the big kids watch the little ones!! They are also walking to it. 8th graders don’t care for this, CCCS you could have Atleast done a simple dance. These kids want to dress up, dance and have fun with their friends. If you want your kids in a smaller setting like a charter you will be better off at Oasis Charter, they fund more programs and even have a beautiful prom!! Very disappointed mom here :(

On facebook, a suggested post came up for an open house for a charter school in hollywood, florida, operated by charter schools usa. as an educator, i wanted to open up some dialogue about the issues surrounding charter schools (no accountability for what is being taught to students, cherry picking studnet/discriminating against students with disabilities because they are more costly , and taxpayer monies diverted away from true public schools run by the district. after deleting my post and blocking my access to the post entirely, i went to their facebook page to leave feedback and resume the dialogue, where i was promptly blocked by admin there as well. if you are running a charter school operation, you should fave the concerns of the general public and at least hear them out. this business runs from criticism and im sure this reflects in their practice.
