Highly recommend this surf camp for a child who is looking into trying the sport. My kids attended for a whole week and loved it! Darlan and his staff are very encouraging & patient with the kids. By the end of the week they were all catching some good waves. It was a really positive experience 🌊

Darlan is an incredible surf teacher! I had two 1 hour lessons with him when I was visiting Ft Lauderdale this March. Both lessons were so positive and fun. He helped me learn how to best position myself to catch and ride the waves. He taught me how to understand how to read the break, as well as gave me tips on how I could follow through on my paddling to make sure I got up enough speed to catch the waves. The second day was epic where everything clicked and came together with each wave ride after ride! Darlan is a professional and his love for surfing is infectious, he genuinely wants everyone to have a great time and to grow and improve as a surfer. I am so excited to have found such a fun and gifted teacher and can’t wait till my next visit to Ft Lauderdale to get back in the water for more lessons!

Instructor was nice and patient. Very generous giving tips, exercises and cues. Though Fort Lauderdale waters are pretty tranquil, the setting was ideal and waves sufficient for a beginner such as me.

If you want to learn to surf Darlan is the instructor for you. He is an awesome, super fun, and down to earth. He was super helpful in letting us know what we were doing wrong and stayed positive the whole time. He made the whole experience more enjoyable. So glad our first surf lesson was with Viking Surf Camp. We will be back for more!

Had a lesson with Darlan in early March 2019. He was simply amazing. It was an one-on-one class for one hour. He is very skilled, helpful & more importantly, very professional. Started with some sand & board work and then an entire hour in the water. Water was warm but air was chilly because of the wind, so he provided me with a 3mm wetsuit. Sincerely an amazing class in Fort Lauderdale in March. Amazing class in March, must be even better in the summer!

My son and I loved the lesson. Probably easier to learn surfing no as a kid but Darlan made it experience fun. I think without a good coach, it would take a long time before one can stand up and ride a wave.

We came from CA and we’re looking for a surf lesson for people that have never sided. From the moment we spoke on the phone, the staff was as friendly, fair, and fun. Each one of my family members was able to ride a wave. Highly recommend this surf lesson. Excellent customer service and had a great time. Don’t go with any other surf instructor when looking for a surf lesson in Ft Lauderdale. WooHoo!!!

Viking Surf Camp is amazing. My daughter loves Coach Darlan Lopes - as a matter of fact, he helped her win 4th place in her division in two surf contests this past Winter Season. If your child loves the ocean and is a good swimmer, have them give surfing a try! They will make new friends and memories to last a lifetime.

We had a great time and Darlan is a great instructor. He taught my 14 and 16 years old daughters.Also we could use a board to try during the course.

Darlan and his team of fun and enthusiastic surf coaches are absolutely amazing! My son started surfing with Viking when he was 7 years old. This year will be his 4th year surfing with Viking Surf Camps summer camp, and if were not traveling, my kiddo is at every camp offered through Viking! We have done private lessons with Darlan and he has the passion needed to keep the kids interested and loving the sport which is one of the best qualities an instructor can have. If you are looking for a summer camp in Fort Lauderdale for your kiddos, definitely get them out on the water! (dont forget your sunscreen!!!)
