This is a great place to go, the best in town. I have trained under Carmen for over 15 years, and she helped me become a national champion and then go on to be an international one as well. There is a great after school program for your kids, and adults love it as well. They teach you true karate , and also make it enjoyable at the same time. You and/or your kids will learn true self defense.. There is a great history involved, with our grand masters coming all the way over from Japan. This is the real deal!

I was becoming a couch potato and my son needed discipline. Thank God for Kirukawa! The instructors are well trained and will hold you to task but they are also patient and very uplifting. As a low ranking belt I feel comfortable there as I learn a new and challenging motor pattern. At 44 I don’t have visions of being the next “Karate Kid” but in 18 weeks my flexibility has improved by leaps and bounds and most importantly, my back feels so much better. I sincerely recommend this facility. FYI, if you start, you won’t want to stop! It feels great being energized and learning just how much my body is capable of doing! Jump in a Tuesday night class with Sensei Reed. You won’t regret it.

Kurokawa Martial Arts was named one of the top 20 karate schools by the Amateur Athletic Union and it shows. This traditional karate dojo offers top-quality instruction for children and adults. The school also has a competition team that has earned national recognition and it has a terrific after-school program for kids.

I first started training in Traditional Okinawan Karate in the late 70s and consider myself old school. My daughter and I started at Kurokawa when she was five years old and she just turned 14. She has competed on the US team internationally and placed in World Championships. Something that will be remembered for a life time. But the Dojo family and ongoing training is what teaches lifelong traits and respect for others. These values show up in all you do. The major credit goes to Lady Teruko, Souke Brooks and Teru Shihan. But everyone plays a role... Seniors teach, encourage and coach. Juniors work hard to meet and become the next example for the latest arrival. Highly recommend as a way to foster behavior for life. Come join us!

One of the many things I appreciate and respect about Kurokawa is that in todays UFC environment of savagery, disrespect, and foul mannerisms, they have kept their focus on the core values of traditional karate. They teach excellent physical skills but its the undercurrent of respect, courtesy, and moral character that makes Kurokawa a cut above the rest. This is where I would send my kids in Ft. Myers.

My son loves Kurokawa and is excited daily to see Shihan. He has learned so much over the summer during karate camp and looks forward to being a part of martial arts as an after school activity. Kurokawa is family oriented and is a great place for all to come together and be a part of something amazing!
