My daughter goes the Blackhawk Christian. The education is great. All of her teachers have been excellent. BCS has one major flaw. The security is horrendous. Even worse, the principal is in complete denial about it. He even told us that they have to balance efficiency with child safety. What? I couldn’t even believe it. I understand efficiency, but I don’t think it is anywhere near child safety when it comes the the priorities of an elementary school.

It is an awesome Christian school. The teachers all hold students accountable for their learning. The leadership is very caring and supportive to all. It is a fun, nuturing, Christ-centered atmosphere.

I started going to school here in 2005 when I was in third grade, and left (finally) when I was in 6th grade. My mom sent me here because she thought I would be in a safe Christian environment. What a WASTE of my parents money! (We werent rich!) In kindergarten-2nd grade I went to a public school, and I had no problem finding friends, and no problem with grades. However, the first couple of weeks at BCS made it clear that NO ONE wanted to talk to me.It was so weird how everyone in my grade was friends with EVERYONE in my grade, except for me. I tried talking to the other kids, and they would just kill the conversation as quickly as possible. It eventually got so bad that I would come home crying every day. My mom talked to the teachers about it, and they said that the other students said that I wanted to be alone and that if I wanted friends, all I would have to do was invite people to play. So then I started inviting other kids to go places with me, and they would, and we would have fun together, until the next day at school when they would go right back to ignoring me. The bullying also started getting worse. Instead of just being ignored, kids started calling me fat, ugly, big-foreheaded, and frizzy-haired, not to mention how they made fun of me for not wearing the same brands of clothes as the rest of them. Eventually, another girl there kind of latched onto me and called herself my friend, but I would always end up accidentally angering her to the point where she would physically bully me on the playground, by kicking me, punching me, and once she even knocked my head against another girls head as punishment for me trying to talk to her. My mom then felt like it would be a good idea to talk to the principal since the teachers had no good ideas. The principal told her I just was having problems connecting with the other kids because I did not make eye contact... So it was my fault apparently.I also had major problems with the teachers, especially in 6th grade. One of my 6th grade teachers, despite working at a Christian school, told us that the Bibles creation story was not literal. The other one made me stay inside during recess because after holding my pee for hours and having my hand raised for a quite a while, I said her name to try to get her attention. I literally had to stay in during my whole recess writing I will not say Mrs. P****rs name. 100 times on a piece of paper. Other teachers in earlier grades had made me stay in for recess for getting bullied because they didnt believe me when I told them that I didnt retaliate in the fights other kids picked with me, and because once I told on a couple of kids for blowing spitballs in my hair.Definitely all what Jesus would do... RIGHT Blackhawk?
