So many phone calls and no returned messages or transferred to the wrong person. I still need to fill out and turn in a permit but no one will help. Four working days and still no help at all and the website is so convoluted, this should be much more organized.

The person that answered the phone was knowledgeable and quick with information. Im sure they are not perfect, but the girl I spoke with helped me figure out the zoning for a particular piece of land and she was so nice about it.

I usually dont write reviews on Google however after suffering through the P&D process for a 8X6 storage shed I am compelled to say something. The website is antiquated (and thats me being nice). It is difficult to use and has no help features to explain exactly what is needed. To obtain a plat, you are referred to another city system which requires more money. After much complaining, someone from P&D contacted me and she could not locate the plat either (house built in 1952). Then it was that the site plan was in the incorrect format, etc... After about 2 weeks of going around and around with the city, it then became a zoning issue because of the easement that the city requires. Finally after much complaining, the permit was approved. However now the problem is the number of anchors that have been installed. Took 23 minutes to get a hold of someone as that is not information ANYWHERE in the code as to the number of anchors need - she didnt know and had to ask someone else.I see why so many people choose not to deal with P&D and just build what they want to on their property. And, FYI - citizens of Fort Worth are paying for the privilege of having such an ineffective system!

Only city in dfw where the inspectors are above you to the point to not give time frames, get an attitude with you if you ask for one, and will immediately leave site and fail you for nobody being present. Must be in competition with irving with worst inspectors of dfw, not helpful in the least.

It has been a nightmare working with the city of Fort Worth and getting permits approved. I have been all up for getting everything I need to make my projects within the city code but every time I finished clearing one issue up another one came up...Example would be applying for a permit and getting a response to have more supporting details. I get the more details and submit it, then they come back and say incorrect permit was submitted a week later (why wasnt I notified the first time????) This is only one example out many.Every time I call (if they answer), the person answering the phone is clueless about the questions Im asking.I then schedule an appointment to review my plans, (they make sure I understand I am around my phone and to be ready to answer) I was scheduled for 4 PM this afternoon and it is now 4:50 and have been on hold for 10 minutes since they are trying to figure out my appointment the line then dropped and I guess its 5 PM. (time for them to go home..)Not good for business guys! Very disappointed.Absolute nightmare...

WORTHLESS! 0 stars should be an option. 48 hour review time turned out to be a week, only after I called and made them do their job. Online system is pathetic with numerous glitches and city employees cant even comprehend what they are reading or use any common sense. Your tax dollars hard at work.

If I could give them no stars I would. For being public servants, it sure is difficult to get ahold of them. Good luck waiting hours on the phone and waiting days for a response to your email (at times to no avail). They’ll take your money like a heartbeat, guide you down the wrong path and then when it comes to them doing their part, don’t expect too much. All of my issues could’ve been resolved by means of simple communication, lack there of results in the circus show you’ll experience. What deems p & d so essential that all other places are open and available in person but them during this pandemic. Health department, courts, dmv, schools everything is open for in person visits but them.

Seriously need to reconsider your historic southside building designs, our house bid got shut down twice already. They keep adding more and more wrongs. When yall should be grateful that we even considered building here, even tho the neighborhood is completely trashed and filled with boarded up houses, yet yall are picky at what people can build.

Dealing with a city municipality is never easy. They have to abide by a long list of rules and regulations. The city of Fort Worth does a good job in maintaining public safety yet still keeping the permitting process fairly simple and quick for contractors. I pulled the wrong permit last week. I called to get it adjusted over the phone. Although it took a couple minutes to get someone on the phone, when I finally did, Adella assisted me. She quickly adjusted my permit and took the payment over the phone. It was easy and quick. Thank you, Adella and the city of Fort Worth!

I wish every company could close the doors and shut the phone off before actually being closed, said no one ever. Called the business line at 4:50 and the phone line said we are closed for the day, not option to leave a voicemail. Tough times, but if your paid on expensive tax payer dime, we at least expect you to not close a public office early.

I recently built a house in Fort Worth and it was the WORST experience Ive had. As a builder Ive built in numerous local cities... while this can be difficult in other places the City of Fort Worth blows them out of the water. Ive never felt the urge to leave a negative review for something like this because there are so many different factors but I can say from start to finish the process was BAD. For being such a large city they have no clear processes for a builder or developer to follow. When you ask questions as simple as the list of inspections required for a specific permit they say they dont have a formal list and they refer you to your inspector. When you call your inspector he determines whether or not he calls you back leaving you to guess and figure it out along the way. When he does return the call he sounded like I was bothering him. This lack of help to a builder causes unnecessary delays which then creates additional income for the City through fees. If you decide to build in Fort Worth USE THE OPTION to have a third party do the plan review and inspections. This will save you from the massive amount of headaches that are sure to come.

I have had to make 6 calls to their office and 2 office visits just to get our CO. I still dont have it. Our inspector passed us with a green tag but the city didnt have record of it. This is an internal error and not something I should have to deal with. Things shouldnt be this difficult.

Shame, shame, shame on the city of Fort Worth for making it so difficult to get a simple shed in our back yard. After attempting to get a permit today, I realize now why so many people don’t go through the permit process. I’ve lived in Fort Worth for almost 30 years and have loved the city. This is the first time that I’m seriously thinking about moving to a different city. Betsy Price, please control the city’s rules placed upon the little people like me. Take small sheds off of the “required” permit list!

I purchased a business recently I had to put a grand opening flag out side to le people know it’s a new business opening. The city came gave me notice about that I was cool with that. Next 2 weeks I put a banner on the side of my building they came over again and gave me a notice about it. shame on them after 3 month I tried to get a permit for sign they didn’t let me get it because I’m not a contractor, that’s so horrible shame on them !!!

Absolute worst customer service. I pull permits in over 80 cities across the metroplex every day. You cannot simply call Fort Worth Planning and development with an issue. You have to plan to be on hold for at minimum, 20 minutes. I just called regarding a registration renewal that was sent in 3 days ago. When the woman finally answered after 20 minutes, she used an irritated tone with me to tell me that it takes them 3-5 business days to process, when did you send your request. I advised 3 days ago, she said, yeah, so we have a few more days to process. My favorite part was how she said this with such disdain. We are very lucky they have an online permit system, because heaven forbid we have to call this place. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER
