I have been learning Kuchipudi from Bhavani akka for a little over 3 months now. When I approached her to inquire about the class, she took an hour of her time to give me a call and get to know me personally to help guide me better regarding what to expect from her classes, etc. She had me questioning my intentions to learn the art form in the best way possible, introduced herself and her ways of teaching to me during the call. By the end of our conversation, I was not only convinced that this will be an experience I’ll have to go through, and instantly signed up for classes. I have learned Kuchipudi for about 6 years when younger and never have I ever come across a teacher who gives such utmost importance to sisterhood/community based learning, as akka does. She’s very knowledgeable, extremely dedicated, and passionate about the dance form, and expects all her students to show the same amount of consistency and discipline in their learning process by showing up without fail. Not only will you receive a great teacher/mentor in her, but also a caretaker and guide who wants nothing but the best for you.I, as a person who enjoys in person group learning, had my doubts regarding learning virtually due to the pandemic on zoom, but it has been nothing but a smooth sailing ship with akka. I have always loved dance and dancing in general especially the Indian classical forms. I wasnt fortunate enough to learn any of these beautiful art forms growing up. Teacher Lakshmi Bhavani garu is very knowledgeable in the art form that she loves. She is passionate about teaching all the aspects of Kuchipudi dance to her students, young and grown ups alike. She provides many opportunities for students to hone their skills. Her ease in explaining the concepts and her way of fostering a healthy dance community is exceptional. She is strict towards students who lack discipline. So, I recommend her only for students who are serious about learning the art form and are willing to push themselves and work hard.

We are very glad to have Smt Bhavani Garu as a dance teacher to our kid. I personally love her passion towards dance. Coupled with her passion and determination to teach kids in the right way, she gives her best. I was looking to find a Kuchipudi dance teacher for my daughter in Fremont. After searching for a while, I came across Smt. Lakshmi Bhavani Garus profile. I contacted a few couple other gurus and then contacted her as well. My initial interaction with her lasted for almost an hour. I could sense the passionate, affectionate and caring personality just over the phone. She also mentioned that she is very particular about the quality of learning over the speed. I think I personally appreciated that, I wanted my daughter to learn dance from someone that is teaching it correctly. More importantly I wanted my daughter to learn dance with passion and not merely to perform for others. Also while conversing I mentioned to her that I was always interested and she suggested why not I join the class along with my daughter. This was three years ago and I started going along with my daughter and fell in love with the style of classes she conducts. She is an amazing teacher with immense love for the art.
