If youve been looking for BJJ academy or youve been wanting to try something new, please please please come here. The people in this academy are very helpful and beyond supportive. Ive learned many things just from them(let alone the amount of things I learned from the coach alone) and thats because the coach, Denney, has made this place to be that way. Denney is an amazing person and someone who really wants to see you grow. If you have any concerns or anything of that sort of nature just contact him and hed be more than happy to help and accomodate you to the best of his ability. His explanations of techniques are crystal clear and breaks everything down. Honestly, I cant give justice to Denney and his academy with just words, its really a great place.

Baem Jiu Jitsu gets two sets of five-stars from me. One set for the world-class, top-notch instruction, and another set for the very friendly environment.Denneys teaching talents are on full display, each and every class. His attention to detail is unreal, and every time I think I cant grasp a technique, Im walked through it until I understand it. And he does this for each student. For those rare times the classes have been substituted by a different instructor, the students can rest assured knowing that anyone Denney chooses to sub for him is also a highly-qualified teacher. As for the students/training partners, everyone here is incredibly welcoming and friendly, and its all about getting each other better, whether the goal is competition or hobby.I recommend this school to all of friends who ask me about starting a martial art, and this is where Ill continue to train as long as Im living in Fremont.

Its a real family type environment, that doesnt have the money grabbing culture that a lot of gyms ( especially martial arts) have.Denney breaks things down into ways that are easy to digest, and the people there making coming to training fun. No Egos here, just people wanting to learn.Ive always wanted to try Jiu Jitsu but every school I tried just wasnt the right fit for one reason or another. Then Baem opened up, and I look forward to training even after a 12 hour shift at work.

Denney really takes the time to break down techniques in a way that a newcomer to BJJ can understand and apply effectively the same day. He has been very knowledgeable and easy to approach during all of the interactions Ive had with him.The learning environment is clean, welcoming, and supportive. I have never felt in danger of injury while training with any of his students as they have always been conscious of safety. Everyone is friendly and willing to help you learn.Ive had nothing but great experiences here. I highly recommend checking this gym out if you are interested in this sport!

If you’re looking to start learning Jiu jitsu, Baem is a great place to learn. The main thing I was looking for was a safe environment with an atmosphere that encourages you to learn. Being in Fremont is a huge bonus. Each class I feel like I’m learning a language that is spoken with the body and getting a great workout.Denney the owner and instructor is a chill guy that sets the tone for the group so the whole class is cool. He communicates the technique in an easy to understand way sometimes using funny analogies. He also constantly shares his insights and thought process which to me is like learning the language from a “native speaker”.Starting a trial is as easy walking in a little early. No hassle, everything is chill. If you have an interest in learning Jiu jitsu I’d definitely encourage you to give this place a try. I’m definitely happy with what I’m learning!

Awesome instruction by Denney and great training partners. Denney teaches concepts and systems and spends lots of time with students at all levels. Even at 14 yrs of training, I always manage to learn something new from Denney and his students. The vibe is chill, making it a relaxing and fun environment to train in.

Baem is the paragon of what a fantastic bjj gym should be: clean, comfortable (no egos, everyone is friendly, helpful, and encouraging), great schedule, and a fantastic coach in Denney. If you want top-notch instruction, encouragement, and a fun environment, then look no further. Whatever your goal(s) may be, Baem Jiu Jitsu will be the place that will help you achieve it.

TLDR: Denny is an amazing instructor and Baem Jiu Jitsu Academy is a great place to train at!I visited Baem Jiu Jitsu Academy with my wife and a friend of ours (weve all been training for over 10 years) and had a great experience. The gym was clean, the students were polite and playful, and Denny was amazing. He rolled with me and caught me in a few moves Ive never seen before, and after the round I asked him about one of them. He not only showed me several variations of the move, but also in the next round he intentionally presented a situation where I could implement that move. Being able to immediately identify what an experienced (and novice) practitioner could add to their game, present the material clearly on the spot, and having them implement right away show his gift as a coach. Not all black belts are great coaches but Denny certainly is one, and his students showed it by their skills and attitudes. If you live in the area and looking for a place to train BJJ, I highly recommend checking out Baem.

Wow, Im definitely overdue for writingProfessor Denney is the gangsta jiu jitsu instructor youve always needed, but didnt know existed.Fremont is very lucky to have such a new young school. I really wish this was around when I was growing up.Ive dropped in a number of times and really enjoyed my rolls there. Everyone is pretty new and its really nice to see everyones progress from day zero as a white belt to getting 6-12 months in.For newbies, its really nice to have a staunch focus on fundamentals since everyone is starting up. Its also really important to get some 1:1 help as youre learning, thats readily available at a newer, smaller school. If youre a world class competitor and you just want to choke out blue belts and purples all day as you tune up for tournaments, this is probably not the school for you.But ya, check out Professor Denneys podcast to get more of a sense of where his own jiu jitsu journey started in SoCal to straight hustling all his way into corporate finance and his own jiu jitsu school. Not to knock on the great Brazillians Ive trained with prior to Baem Jiu Jitsu, but the english barrier is still an issue and its just really refreshing to be able to talk deeply with Professor Denney about a technique or meta philosophy around a certain move.
