Iconic Bay Area hiking trail. Online side trail is considered easier than the Stanford Ave trailhead. It took us about 3 hours to comfortably climb up and down the peak and of course take a few photos along the way.At the top you will see the iconic pole and must take a photo safely. Stunning views of the Bay Area landscape from the peak. Be careful as you ascend and descend the last 500 meters as it is rocky and inclined.
Alternative starting point to reach Mission Peak with less crowds and more parking. Park in the garage ($4) and walk over to the trail head. Some tips- Be prepared for a nice upward climb up to the peak- Bring plenty of water for you and any pets you bring along.- Stop and enjoy the viewNote the trail is unpaved and there is a bathroom stop at the mid-point of the hike.
Less crowded than the other entrance and the views are just as good! The parking lot belongs to the college so theres never been an issue finding a spot on a weekend - But there is a $4 parking fee
Spring is the Best time to visit mission peak. Perfect climate, greens and amazing view from the top!
A beautiful trail with breathtaking views! You start next to Ohlone College, with its beautiful buildings, then head on up to more natural scenery.
Parking is much easier on this side of mission peak, I think the trail is at a better slope, keeps you from feeling like youre sliding down the trail coming down.
Perfect trail on a tight schedule.
