If youre in a hurry this is not the place for you.My experiences at Summit Salon Academy have always been where I feel like Im being pampered. The students are interacting with their educators to make sure they are following techniques and procedures and they learn to listen to the customer, which is the most important thing IMHO.Best money I have spent this week-- color, cut, and style and a couple of hours of total relaxation. 👍P.S. my color is not true to life because of the fluorescent lighting. Its more of a light to medium brown with a beautiful loose curl styling.

I put in an application about a week ago, and was told that someone would be getting back to me. Everytime I call, I cannot get ahold of any body. That is including administration. I have left several messages, and the message I have received in return is that Im not wanted at there academy. How can you not get ahold of anybody. Its ok, I was accepted into another school. If you are looking to go to a school, that returns your calls, and sets up your enrollment quickly, I would recommend Blys Cosmetology and Barbering School. The were way more professional, and caring. This school seems like they have their noses in the air, and for what? Poor communication and unprofessionalism. Think twice. You were warned.

Bailey is so friendly and took great care of my niece. Very pleasant and put her at ease. My niece loved that she knew how to frenchbraid

The young lady trying to braid my hair did not know how to do the braid I wanted. She asked around and asked her instructor but nobody would initially help. After about 10 minutes another student came by and said she thought she could do it and did her best. I felt bad for the student as her teacher was not available and came by after my hair was almost done to point out the correct name of the braid 🙄 then walked off. This was my first time here. The students seem to have a cohesive relationship and the front desk although did not return my message was receptive when I arrived.

Got a great stylist and my hair colored. A very cool place

The administration is completely disrespectful. They will not care about your financial needs when considering this school think about this. Wasted time and wasted money. Also if you want instructors that don’t teach everything they’re supposed too.

Went to get my hair trimmed by Kamari. The receptionist was nice, teacher was great, and Kamari did an good job.

I had the most relaxing pedicure. Bri did an also job.

The student took her time shampoo, deep condition and detangling my natural 4c hair.

Very clean and organized. Went in for a cosmo facial. Would definitely recommend and will be back! Great experience.

Great place and very inexpensive. Have had Danielle trim and style my hair 3 times in the last few months and shes awesome.

Britney was my stylist I went in told her exactly how I wanted it cut and she got right to it only my second time there and a wonderful experience everyone was so nice and friendly COVID 19 taken very seriously I would recommend her to anyone

I waited 15 minutes outside after 8am for them to open while I watched them walk around inside. Once I got inside it took another 3 minutes before someone walked up front. Then I waited 15 more minutes for the stylist to get together which I guess she never did because I ended up leaving due to no communication.

For all you moms wanting to get a little pampering, this is not the place to go unless you have a babysitter because even babies that dont walk yet are not allowed in, mind you they never mention the fact that no kids are allowed. The lady in the front had the audacity to tell me to find a baby sitter and come back, like all of us moms have money to get our nails done as well as to pay a baby sitter. Huge lack of empathy from this place even tho they are all women and most likely have kids.

I went to school here and when you go for your interview they tell you all this great stuff about how good of an education youll get and youll be able to get any job and there all there to help you. Bullshit. I did graduate and have a job at a great salon but its no thanks to this school. SO MANY unprofessional and probably illegal stuff happens here. The teachers are as much involved in student drama as the students. They have no ones best interest in mind except their own. They did not help me at all with anything when I was about to graduate. They could have probably cared less because they got their money already. Oh, and they let any body go to school here so the interview is pointless. As long as you have $$ youre in! And once you get out in the real world, the industry doesnt think your special because you went here, they dont want to hire you BECAUSE you went there. Dont be fooled. But in the end no matter where you go its your own passion and purpose that will get you where you wanna be after graduation.

I went in taking into consideration that this is a school and students services vary. The first student on 11/4 was Alisha and she was wonderful. The color was a perfect match to what I needed and the cut was excellent. On 12/7/15 Gina colored my hair and chose rhe color per the instructor/supervisor, the color was horrifying. I walked out of there with purple hair instead of copper. On 02/22 I saw Sheila and this was the worse I have ever experienced. The color was off again and ended with a dark maroon color. My head was so itchy I had to wash my hair the next day only to discover that Sheila did not rinse the color well. It took me 10 minutes under the water and shampooing it twice. Yes, it is a school, it is affordable, and chances are I will give it a try again. Is a matter of luck and who you get. Some students are born others needs lots of polishing.UPDATE - I went back and finally!!! I got the color I wanted after the instructor recommended a bleach wash.

Perfect for what it is: Students practicing. Colors can take anywhere from normal times to 4+ hours for a new student, so plan accordingly. One of mine wasnt left on long enough to cover grey, and one missed my temples, but otherwise very good. The trims, layering Ive been brave enough to let them do have been very good. The instructor talked the newer students through, and often showed them what was expected.

I have been a student at Summit Salon Academy for just about two months now and I have to say it is so amazing!! The educators are full of knowledge and are so excited to teach what they know to us. Every time I go to school I am so excited to go and see what is in store for us that day!! I HIGHLY recommend this school to anyone interested in a career in Cosmetology!!

I got Andrew doing my hair for prom, he did a great job! Everyone there is really kind and welcoming, they even put some extra glitter in for me. At times it seems kinda unprofessional but I dont go to a teaching place for top tier service. But my hair turned out exactly the way I wanted it.

We had a great experience! Shakel trimmed my daughters hair and took great care to pay attention to detail. She was so sweet and professional and the salon over all was super clean with a modern and stylish atmosphere.

I had a color from Antione and a cut from Marissa. I look forward when they graduate and hope that they work locally. Both were very good, the prices were affordable, the service very solid and the environment and teachers were accomplished and professional. Overall this is a very solid salon/school and much better, overall, than what I have experience at the higher end salons locally. Well done!

I had a horrible experience with Summit Salon Academy,the first time they messed up my hair so they told me to come back to fix it and i dont have to pay, that wasnt true.technically I went to dye my hair a lighter color, and I have different color very dark hair, so they just dyed with one light color, the result was just the root light and the rest was so dark, it was horrible even I couldnt see myself in the mirror. So they scheduled me another day to fix it and they said ill not pay it will be on them because it was misunderstanding. I went the other day hoping they will fix it, they bleached it not properly and then they dyed it, at the beginning I thought its one color lighter than I had before, but when i went home and after I washed my hair I just realized the difference, now I have three colors in my hair dark, light and lighter. Im really disappointed they charged me the second time, not like they said its on them so I paid a lot of money on top of it my hair is ruined. I thought finely I found a good salon, but I was wrong, now I dont know how to fix my hair. :( :( :(

It use to be a great place to go until it changed ownership. Now they have to push for you to purchase products. The male teacher wants you to have your hair cut the way he wants it instead of the way you want it. He has an attitude

I had an appoiment at 12:00 and went in at 11:30 and they saw me early which was nice. I went in to make a bold cut that I was suuuper nervous about. My stylist was Danielle. She was soo sweet and very knowledgeable when it came to her craft. She cut 12 INCHES! The biggest hair cut I have ever received and I am obsessed! She walked me threw every step and included me in the whole process, occasionally the instructor would walk by to and do routine checks and give some tips to the stylist that was very nice. I will say I was very skeptical about getting my hair cut in a learning academy, but as long as Danielle is there I will be back! Oh and let’s not forget, a cut, and blow dry was only $11.00! You can’t beat that!

Because of a scratch no bigger than my fingernail they said they couldnt cut my hair. It fine for washing but not for cutting! The plumber might want to check the sinks out because the temperature keeps changing without permission. They sssa come back when the scratch is healed but ocd keep messing with it. They suggested a bandage but near the hair it would be a pain. So I went to first hair choice and they got the job done without fuss at little scratch.

Received a cosmo facial. Was very relaxing and was very professional! I purchased 2 facials and cant wait for the next one!!! Thank you

I travel alot for business an always in need of a hair stylist. The Summit Academy Salon of Gainesville was highly recommended. Now that my salon of choice everytime Im in Florida; Even if i have to drive from surrounding cities. The Staff an Students are very professional. The atmosphere is always peaceful an the music is relaxing. Top Notch Facility

I had a groupon for this place and called on multiple occasions to schedule an appointment and they never called me back so I traded in this groupon for another. Im considering driving over there to tell them what happened cause maybe their phone line doesnt work properly..? Anyhow, was disappointed.

I went to the salon with high hopes with my friend due to the reviews that we have read online, but I was definitely disappointed. Some of the students were pretty friendly, which was a bonus. However, one of the educator, Mr. D (as students call him), was a pain in the ass and very rude. He specially told me and the student who was doing my hair coloring that my total would come out to be $44 ($24 for the coloring, $10 for zone 2, and $10 for zone 3), but instead, he charged me an additional $20 because he estimated the amount of hair dye needed incorrectly and even had the audacity to blame it on the student. I was appalled by his behavior and wasnt even given an apology for the issue.He messed up on the estimate for my hair dye, and as a result, I was forced to pay an additional $20 for that extra 20g of hair dye without even being consulted to. My appointment was scheduled for 5:30pm, but I wasnt in the chair for my appointment until 5:50, which was on them. I didnt get out of the salon until 9pm, and was rushed out too, so my hair didnt even come close to my expectations.Overall, I was thoroughly disappointed with how the educator handled the situation, because CUSTOMERS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT, REGARDLESS. I will be calling tomorrow morning and talking to the manager and your higher ups.

Okay so heres the breakdown of my experience: Im a college student so I was looking for a cheaper place to go and get my hair done, well they told me on the phone itll be $38 for a balayage (which is what it says on their website) and then I arrive and they tell me itll be between $64-84. Well Im already there and dont want to be rude so I stay and let them do my hair. This process took close to 5 hours and cost me about the same as a salon. When the other ladies finished (I loved my main hairdresser, she was really nice but had to head out early) they kept saying how beautiful it was and one of the instructors told me Youll come back for more. I was super confused and then I look in the mirror and see its not really a balayage but messy highlights that are more of a strawberry blonde than a carmel. I finally understood what the instructor meant Youll come back for more because it doesnt look like the picture because we did it wrong. So yeah its a little cheaper but for around 5 hours and a messy job, it wasnt worth it and Im definitely not coming back for more.

Be prepared for your service to take longer than usual, as it is a teaching salon. Skill level of students vary, so take that into consideration when you are scheduling an appointment.

Disgraceful. The manager blatantly discriminated against an autistic child today, 3/7/2015. The little girl has sensory issues and cannot handle having the cape on. The mother had no problem with dealing with the hair on the childs clothing after the hair cut, but when the stylist (Jessica) went to inform her manager she would be doing the cut, the manager responded by storming over to the little girl and her mother, refused to serve them and basically kicked them out. Salon UNprofessional. I ONLY gave one star because it wouldnt let me post with zero stars.
