This is a great place to learn self-defense, build confidence and get a great workout. I started attending classes here at the age of 37 with zero martial arts experience. I wasn’t sure what to expect and I’ve never been the athletic type. The professors coaches and here were extremely welcoming and encouraging. Two years later, I’m 20 lbs lighter and in the best shape of my life; coupled with also eating better and some additional exercise outside of classes. The coaching staff here is great with training adults and kids at all levels. Professor Jeff Gordon and Evgeny have been encouraging and created an extremely positive and fun training environment for all.Fellow students have been very welcoming and have been great training partners.I look forward to attending every class. Thank you Infinite Fighting Concepts for changing my life!

I have been a student at Infinite Fighting Concepts for over 4 years. Training at IFC has been a really interesting and rewarding experience. Like most new students, I was nervous walking through the door for the first time, not sure what I had signed up for and not sure how/if I would fit in. Coach Gordon and the other instructors immediately made me feel welcome. Coach Gordon and his instructors all have a unique combination of knowledge, teaching ability, and humor. They do a fantastic job helping you learn both specific techniques and general principles that enable you to continually progress. You will work hard, learn a lot, and you’ll also laugh.I would also like to say a word about your fellow students. They’re a really fantastic and diverse group. Every student I’ve worked with, from beginner to the most advanced, is always looking to help you out, explaining solutions to problems you may be experiencing, or just helping you to improve generally. If you’re seriously interested in competition or want to challenge yourself and improve your overall fitness I urge you to stop by and speak to one of the staff here at infinite Fighting Concepts. You will never regret your decision!

I moved from these guys to a different gym, because the commute is shorter, but I have to say that the high level of jujitsu and talent here is amazing. By far one of the better places to train in Maryland. The coaches here train you to pay attention to the small details that will eventually put your game at a higher level than your competition. Especially if youre a smaller fighter like me.

Great Academy ! My Juijitsu has improved since moving to IFC. The instruction is strategic and we learn in concepts not just technique. All of the instructors are top quality and it is a heathy and safe environment, with a strong sense of community. I travel a bit on business and I called ahead to visit the gym. It was outstanding. The space was large, the mats were clean and the instruction was great. The comrardarie the students had with each other is some of the best I have ever seen and they give an excellent workout. A very good place for beginners to start and a talent pool large enough to keep experienced martial artists very busy. I would love to train there again.

I’ve loved my time at infinite fighting concepts!! The classes are run well, very informative, and the staff and fellow students are extremely supportive. Before joining the academy, I was very overweight and really struggled with the way I viewed myself. When I began taking classes, I started to see the progress I was making and my motivation to train only grew. Having the BJJ community behind me helped me continue to work hard, even when I was tempted by my old unhealthy habits. After a year of training, I am proud to say that I was able to lose over 40 pounds. Finally having structure in my workouts allowed me to not only become stronger, but lose weight in a way that I actually enjoyed. BJJ has become a huge part of my life, both in and outside the gym, and I am so grateful to have joined IFC. Professor Jeff and the staff at the academy have been my second family and have been there to push me toward my true potential. After battling obesity almost my entire life, I finally have the confidence to say that I am closer to my dream body than I have ever been. I cant thank Jeff and his staff enough for the opportunities they have given me throughout this year, and am excited to see the further progress I make in the future. I highly recommend IFC for anyone who wants to begin to learn the art of Brazilian jiu jitsu and change their life!

On the fence about joining and trying Jiu Jitsu? Just do it! I am a young female that was interested in self-defense. At first, I thought that meant Krav Maga. I reached out to a couple different places and Infinite Fighting Concepts was the only place that got back to me -- and quickly. They follow up without being too pushy either.Right from the start, it is clear that Coach Jeff and his staff care about who you are and why you are there. Coach Jeff is certified and highly trained in several martial arts and, after inviting me to one of his beginner classes, explained why Jiu Jitsu was a better fit for me and my goals. I watched the beginner class and was hooked. Here is what I love about this community:(1) Im not sure how busy the beginner classes were before COVID but the class sizes are perfect right now. Between 10 and 15 people show up for the weekly evening classes allowing for more personalized training.(2) People with varying skill levels show up for the beginner classes and the more experienced students are very helpful.(3) The classes are supposed to be ~45 minutes (it goes by way too fast!) but if we havent finished curriculum entirely by the end of the class, Coach Jeff and his staff dont cut the class short. They make sure that the material is taught and that everyone gets a chance to practice.(4) The membership cost is extremely reasonable, especially given the rigor of the training and the skill of the people teaching the classes.(5) Most importantly, the community is tight, respectful, and supportive. I just moved to MD and this has been a nice way to make friends!Huge thanks, IFC MMA!

I joined Infinite Fighting Concepts a few months ago and have had a really great experience! I was looking for something more interesting than the classes at a regular gym, and I wanted to lose weight and learn some self defense. Ive been doing Muay Thai, and its great for both women and men. The coaches are excellent and I get near-constant one-on-one help from them during the classes (which I like, personally). I really like the combination of technical instruction (how to strike, kick, etc) and fitness (to build strength). The school has a great atmosphere too - its a real community of supportive people dedicated to training and helping each other meet goals. Id highly recommend this gym for anyone looking for a fun, supportive environment in which to learn martial arts.

The gym is accompanied with respectable instructors well equipped not just to teach you but also to push you to reach your best form. This constructive attitude all starts from the top down in Coach Jeff and seeps its way into each and every person who enters the gym. If youve never taken a martial art, and are interested, or youre an experienced martial artist looking to expand your knowledge or stay in shape, there is no better place that I could recommend.

On the last Saturday of May 2017, I walked into Infinite Fighting Concepts Academy for the first time; 64 years old, morbidly obese, out of shape, suffering from various medical conditions and pretty darn beaten down mentally. Little did I know that I had just made one of the biggest steps forward in my life.My first impression was that the facility itself was clean, bright and well cared for. The students I observed all appeared to be relaxed and comfortable in the environment and the coach was professional yet friendly. All checkmarks in the positive.I met that day with Professor Jeff Gordon, who listened carefully to what my goals and expectations were. During that initial meeting I told him I needed to be strong physically, mentally, and have the ability to defend myself. He was very open, honest, and forthright regarding the obstacles I faced, as well as what he would demand of me; Within minutes knew I had finally found the person who possessed not only the requisite skill set and experience but as strong a will to succeed as I had.Over the last 2 years my life has improved beyond even my expectations. I have lost over 100 pounds, stronger physically and mentally, my health has improved enough to stop or reduce medications, and while learning self-defense is a long-term endeavor, I think I could actually make a decent effort in defending myself, at least I’m not a sitting duck anymore! The coaches and other students at the Academy are as they seemed that first day; I cannot tell you how many times I have been approached with words of support, general banter and encouragement. When I started this process, training was something I had to do, over the course of the last year training has become the centerpiece of my “makeover”, and something that I want to do, a major shift in attitude. I have had my share of scrapes, bumps, bruises and back steps along the way, but as always, my coach is there to slap a Band-Aid on me or talk with me about overcoming obstacles. He is one of the few people I truly admire for his skills, competence, humor, and that force of will that matches mine.I would recommend IFC to anyone looking to improve their lives, your age/gender doesn’t matter; If you want to change you can.

I trained at IFC while visiting the area for a business trip and was immediately struck by how welcoming the staff and students were. I attended two intermediate BJJ classes and continued to be impressed. I travel a lot for work and visit different gyms when Im on the road. A lot of times, the professor/coach is nice but they arent very attentive to me during the class - focusing instead on their regular students. I understand that approach, but was pleasantly surprised that it wasnt IFCs philosophy. I felt like I got just as much coaching and instruction as the regular students (maybe even more since we were working techniques that were new to me, but that theyd been drilling for a few weeks). Ill definitely visit again when Im in town and highly recommend the gym for business travelers looking to keep up their skills while getting in a good workout.

The staff is courteous and helpful with questions. Generally the atmosphere is laid back and there is some joking around, but it does get serious when it comes to actual training which I am good with. While I am not much of a competitor, I do take my training seriously considering we are learning combat arts which can seriously injure a training partner. Also I consider it a personal goal to do well and learn as much as I can so I appreciate the discipline. I have taken just about everything offered at the school at one time or another and feel all of the instructors are great. They are helpful and easily accessable for questions after class. They are also supportive of helping students reach goals they may have for their training. The facilty is clean and the owner is serious about it for the safety of the students. It is also a good size. If three classes are going on at once, it may seem there is no room to warm up before class but spots on the mat can be found which dont interfer with classes. Overall I enjoy the school, my training and the people I interact with when I am there.

Some instances, they would say that I would get the gi after ive signed up which was not at all the deal offered on the site. It was awkward having to constantly tell them that I was not yet ready to make a decision as to signing up to their school.Their incessant desire for money became apparent when, Jeff, one of the head bjj instructors tried to force me to pay an extra $60 for a proper bjj gi saying exactly im not making any money off the judo ones. I realized that, here, its just money to them. You dont want to be part of a studio that so intensely focuses on money. Thats all you are to them. An extra paycheck.I eventually built the courage to call them and demand for my gi, and Jeff answered. I had never been exposed to any martial arts but had always wanted to learn some self-defense and when I talked to coach Jeff over the phone, he mentioned that BJJ would be a great way to learn some self-defense techniques and just get in shape! BJJ classes are very fun and it is truly is a safe-enviroment to learn and make mistakes in order to become better. I knew from my first class that I would come back and keep training. One of my favorite parts about training at IFC is how organized the classes are and how we spend several classes practicing specific techniques, so that we really learn them through repetition and practice. Another great part is how friendly and helpful everyone who trains there is. Everyone helps each other out. I made several friends there! :)I really enjoyed training there that I decided to sign up my little brother, who is 5 years old to train in the Kids BJJ class. I think it is important for children to learn how to be active and ultimately be able to defend themselves. My little brother loves it and this has definitely helped him build discipline.I recently moved to medical school and started training at a new academy and I have to say, I do not think I will ever find another place like IFC. I feel like part of a community, and not just another warm body paying membership dues. The students who train at IFC are friendly, down-to-earth people who care about helping each other improve. I felt comfortable right away from my very first class. The training curriculum is highly structured and carefully planned out. Jeff, the owner and one of the black belt instructors, sets the tone. He leads classes with a lot of drive and energy, and knows how to create an atmosphere that is really enjoyable to come and train in.The school has another black belt instructor, Tony Passos, who teaches the advanced jiu jitsu classes. Tony is very positive, upbeat and passionate, and it is obvious he cares deeply about being a good coach. His approach to teaching is so well thought-out it is almost scientific, and he breaks things down into practical concepts that really make a lot of sense.Since I have been training at IFC, I feel my jiu jitsu has improved leaps and bounds in a very short time. I have not yet tried judo, boxing or Muay Thai, but often watch those classes in progress, and I am impressed with the level of fitness and skill the students demonstrate, as well as the knowledge and dedication of the instructors. I dont have any kids, but from what I have seen of the kids classes, Id say Jeff and the other instructors offer solid structure and discipline to the kids, but also teach with a lot of humor and encouragement. It is so great to see the kids have so much fun learning and I am amazed at their jiu jitsu skills!I would definitely recommend this school, whatever your goals are - whether you want to compete, learn self-defense, or just want to get fit and have fun doing it, I think you will find that IFC has something for you.

Ive been training in IFC for 6 months. Thank god I found this academy. I was originally interested training in Judo but Im always intrigued with BJJ. Anyways I signed - up for BJJ because they have a beginner class and after a few months I also signed - up for Judo. My experience is nothing but amazing. The coaching staff are very helpful and they always gives you amazing advise. Higher belts and students are very helpful, friendly, and respectful too. When I started BJJ I was 218lbs now I weigh 175lbs. BJJ will definitely help you to lose weight, it will help you in improving your personality, it will teach how to be humble, and BJJ will make you a happy person. If youre looking for a place to train or to workout, try IFC youll never regret it.

Ive come to the conclusion that training at Infinite is a no-brainer. My statement sounds a little forward, but let me tell you why… Ive been training in Jiu Jitsu at Infinite for over two and a half years. In that time, my job has provided the opportunity to travel and spend extended periods of time in other parts of the country. During this time, I continued my training while abroad and got the chance to train at other big name academies and with many instructors some of whom are current world champions. The people Ive met are great and some of the instructors are the real deal. Having been exposed to these other schools and their approach to training Jiu Jitsu, I can say with confidence that Infinite is definitely one of the best, if not the best that Ive come across. The facilities, staff, atmosphere and the commitment the academy has toward its students are all excellent. As for the training itself, its great. Jiu Jitsu does take a commitment to learn, but one of the benefits of training here is that youll probably reach your goals in a shorter period of time because of the way they teach. Infinite is an ATOS affiliate, and ATOS is one of the top Jiu Jitsu academys in the world. Jeff Gordon is the real deal having won championships himself, and hes an excellent teacher as well. If youre looking to get into Jiu Jitsu or looking to find a new academy, I highly recommend Infinite.

Totally friendly, I walked in with zero knowledge of martial arts and the coaches and students accepted me right away. If you want to learn Jiu Jitsu, this is the place to do it!

Ive been training at Infinite Fighting Concepts for about 4 months now and I am absolutely addicted to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Its challenging, its a great workout, and Professor Jeff Is awesome. I am also training in Muay Thai which is also an amazing workout and challenging in its own way. There are plenty of options to suit your needs as an aspiring fighter or as someone who just wants to work out or learn a new skill. The environment is very energetic, positive, and family oriented. All of the instructors are great and truly dedicated to teaching and seeing all of their student progress. I have only good things to say about IFC and Im happy to be a part of their team :)-Rhiannon

I have not been a marital arts school for a while, I never played any sports growing or was very athletic. I believe it was around October or November of 2014 and I was looking for a place to improve physically in the winter because I dont like the cold. I got extremely lucky and found Infinite. I have been at this school since late 2014 and absolutely love it. The instructors from Jeff, tony, Eric, Pedro, Chupa and many others are extremely knowledgeable in their craft and it shows The are many other disciplines such as muay thai, judo, boxing and ect. I am in the BJJ and Judo but try find time to do others. One thing I love about this school is it safety conscious but not to the point of overwhelming.I have couple issues like sometimes get low blood sugar or have issues with anxiety and the teachers are wonderful because they seem to understand that which allows me to train harder knowing that the people around looking out for me. Joining this school has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Infinite Fighting Concepts and BJJ and the people in the school I am very to know and will continue to train and try to advance along side them. If your reading this, come join im sure you will have much fun and look forward to rolling with you someday.

I joined two programs in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai in October 2014. My experience has been awesome. Im 46 years old and since I started the programs my energy level is so high and I feel so great. Bjj is one of the best sports and very addictive. My lung capacity improved, I dont get tired fast and I can last longer when I role with guys. The instructors are great , they go over details and monitor our progress closely. Jeff Gorden is amazing , he treats all the students like family and explains each move with the science behind it. All instructors are very knowledgeable in both sports Bjj and Muay Thai and very friendly. The atmosphere of the academy is outstanding and thats so important. The schedule for classes is great and they have many classes during the weekdays and even in the weekends. You will always find the time to attend the classes weekdays or weekends. I highly recommend Infinite Fighting Concepts. This academy will change your life to the positive. I wish I started when I was younger :)Mo

Hello all. I was looking to loose some weight, and could never stand going into a gym to do whatever. I decided that I wanted to learn some self-defense, and went on the hunt for a school. I looked at a couple of schools, took a trail class at one, and read reviews online. Found IFC, and went in.It has been about six months, and I can say that I love the school. I signed up for the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class, and have two of my kids enrolled as well. My daughter loves the Muay Thai class, and my son has just started BJJ.The staff is welcoming, encouraging, and knowledgeable. Other members are great to roll with, and have helped improve my skills.Come on in, and try it out.

IFC is the real deal. I lost 10 lbs in the first month doing Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu, and I probably would have lost more if it hadnt turned into muscle. Everybody is really friendly and willing to help you whenever you need it. It has boosted my energy all around and it is a great way to destress. The one thing to note is that you have to be patient. You will get delayed gratification, but in order to do that you have to show up and be willing to learn.

This is my home away from home. I walked in to Infinite Fighting Concepts (IFC) MMA on October 1, 2011. Before then I always worked out mostly lifting weights and running. I was looking for something more engaging, something dynamic, fun, and challenging. I found everything I was looking for. If you are looking for a gym that offers these things this is definitely the place for you. It will push you physically and mentally. I have trained in boxing, judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Muay Thai and the fitness bootcamp class. The coaches there have a strong understanding of their respective arts and have turned out several successful competitors both local and national levels. They take plenty of time to explain things and answer your questions to facilitate learning and comprehension. As an added bonus, Ive met some awesome and diverse people at IFC. There is sense of camaraderie with those that share the same struggle. Everyone pushing themselves and pushing each other to reach both individual and team goals. Its tough but I look forward to training the next day, and the next day, and the next. Ive been at IFC for 2.5 years and see myself training here for many years to come!

This is an awesome school and with awesome people.Ive been training at this school for the last few years and it has been a great learning experience whether its Muay Thai, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, Judo, etc. All the instructors are very knowledgeable and approachable even before and after class. If you have any questions or hurdles you feel that you cannot seem to surpass, they will assist you. They will take that extra time to explain things to you, and I have never been yelled at in front of an entire class over any mistakes I have made over the last few years of training there. Their main goal is to get your skill to the next level. I even have my son enrolled in the kids BJJ class. He loves how they teach and I can see he how much his BJJ has improved over the last 6 months.

I joined IFC MMA way back in 2008, (still called JGMMA back then) and I have learned so much in that time. My experience here has been amazing. I currently train in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai. IFC has world class instructors in all their martial arts programs. Tony Passos and Jeff Gordon are very knowledgeable about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and are always willing to help their students develop their martial arts skills. The welcoming atmosphere and positive attitudes of the instructors and students keep this academy a fun and exciting place to train. I encourage anyone reading this review to come check it out.

My first year as a teacher in DC in 2009 was grueling, and I needed an outlet in order to get a great workout and let out some stress. Hence, I started Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (BJJ) here at Infinite Fighting Concepts (IFC). About five years later, I am the fittest I will ever be (Dropped from 220 pounds to about 183 pounds during competition time), made some amazing friends who truly care about me, and am so happy mentally. Jeff Gordon and Tony Passos are so knowledgeable about BJJ, and they push you to and over your limits to make you a better BJJ player and a better person. Going to a regular gym, running on a treadmill, and lifting weights is so boring, and it makes losing weight miserable. However, at IFC, you are not only learning the best self-defense system on the planet, but you are having so much fun doing it with others that have similar goals in mind to you. This makes losing weight fun and effortless. I have dabbled in Muay Thai, and the instruction under Lior Klejner is also amazing.I have trained in other BJJ gyms throughout the US, and I can truly say that IFC is superior in instruction and methods of teaching BJJ. If you want to challenge yourself, have fun, and get fit, IFC is the place to be.

I joined Infinite about a year ago to do some Krav Maga self-defense training. They convinced me to cross-train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Im glad I did. I cant imagine life without it! Both programs have been amazing and Ive learned a lot. This gym has a great vibe. Its definitely a fighting gym and people are serious about their training, but there are no meat-heads or bad attitude. Everybody is cool and respectful to one another and willing to help show you a technique if youre having trouble. I feel at home hanging out here, which is different than Ive ever felt at a weight-training gym.Teachers here are great. Jeff is an awesome BJJ teacher and great guy and so are his assistants. The Krav teachers bring in great insight on the arts that Krav is derived from (Muay Thai, BJJ, etc.) as well as real-life experience. Plus they give you a hell of a workout.Infinite also offers judo, muay thai, and boxing and I wish I had the time to do ALL OF IT.In short...COME TRAIN!

The day I found this place was a fortuitous accident. I needed something new in my life. Something that would really challenge me. Truly, I had no idea what I walked into...but I will say it has been life-changing for me in nearly every way. I am so glad Jeff Gordon called me back as quickly as he did and got me in here. As a small woman, I wanted to learn some self defense, challenge myself and get a workout so I signed up for both BJJ and Muay Thai. It has only been a few months, but the instruction in such technical sports has been truly excellent (I admit, I am partial to BJJ). Ive also found the people there (mostly men; cmon ladies, dont be too shy!) have become friends and like a family of sorts to me, which I needed. While I am still so new to this sport and this school, I do feel Ive learned a few things that would help me defend myself in a scary situation, Ive burned more calories than I ever thought possible (at this point having to eat 2,500-3,000 or so a day to keep up with food demand and I am little), and I got my challenge. While it can be physically demanding, the technical aspects will save even the smallest person on the mat (me). Knowing nothing of the sport before I started, I had no idea just how VERY good the instruction is. Consider myself very lucky to be in a Tony Passos BJJ school. Do yourself a favor and join IFC. I want my son to start here too.

I started training BJJ at this school almost 4 years ago. When I started training, I weighed almost 300lbs. Today, after training hard and under excellent instruction and mentoring I now weigh 205lbs. I could not be happier mentally and physically. I wanted to test my training and started competing in local tournaments. In the last three tournaments I competed in, I took two silver medals and a gold medal. I recently started my 7 year old son in the program as well and his confidence and self-esteem have gone through the roof.Yes, this school has rules and rules are an essential part of learning and training. Any legitimate martial arts school is going to have rules and these rules develop discipline, focus, respect goal setting, which all at the end, makes you a better person.Infinite MMA/ Team Passos has produced Pan American, American National, Abu Dhabi trial winner and ADCC pro Jiu Jitsu series silver medalist and several other IBJJF Tournament Champions. There is only a few schools in the Washington DC area that can claim this on an international level. Doing well in tournaments is not the goal but is the result of hard work and dedication to get better in Jiu Jitsu and thats what I want for my child and myself.I highly recommend this school to anyone who is serious about learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and changing their life.

The school is good, the people nice, the owner/bjj instructor is a napoleon complex/ADD, crazy person. new rules/policies pop up every week but you wont know about it through email or memo. hell just yell at you in front of the whole class about it. if you dont like them or him, he kicks you out. if you train at other school because you want to get better at bjj, he takes it personally and kicks you out. he talks down to students/paying customers. most of the higher belts left for other schools (mostly a school in the kentlands)muay thai is great, krav is good (if you like that sort of thing) stay away from this school for bjj
