Our daughter has attended Top Hat since she was 4 months old. As a new mom who was very hesitant to send her baby to daycare, I felt at ease within the first week of taking her to TH. The infant teachers are wonderful! Ms. Lilia is gentle, patient and attentive. Our daughter is now 16 months old, and has moved up to the toddler room. Ms. Daisy is a great teacher and I love that she is the primary teacher for toddlers! The rest of the staff are great as well! Ms. Patty, the assistant director, is very responsive when I have any questions or concerns. Also, as of Spring 2020, there are new owners of TH. They are very involved and have already made some immediate improvements on the interior, including new paint and increased security. They are open to listening to parents input and concerns, and are working to constantly make improvements at TH. We really enjoy sending our daughter to TH!

We have been brining our son here since he was about 5 months old. We absolutely adore Julians two main teachers Ms. Daisy and Ms. Lilia. You can tell that they both love what they do and care deeply about the children. Recently Top Hat underwent a change in ownership and it has been for the better. There is clear communication from the owners on an ongoing basis as well as cosmetic changes to the inside of the building. Excited to see what other changes are in store.

My 2 daughters have been coming to Top Hat for almost 2 years now. My oldest has been in the primary class and my youngest has been in the toddler class. Laura and staff have been phenomenal at accommodating to my childrens needs and we couldnt be happier about that. Staff helped my oldest become fully potty trained and are working on my youngest, which as all parents know takes a village. My daughter is fully prepared to enter kindergarten this fall and is a head of the curve in what she is expected to know once she starts. Recently there has been a change in ownership and it is def for the better. They have begun to implement PTA meetings for parents, newsletters and new classroom programs for the kids. More importantly the new owners reached out to Parents to hear any complaints and or things we would want to see changed or kept the same, and its nice to see the new owners really listen and start to make the changes some parents asked for. Coming from a home daycare setting we were a bit hesitant to put our children into a center setting but again we have had a great experience here at TH and would encourage any other parent to take a tour and check it out.

Our son has been at Top Hat Montessori for a year in the toddler room and have been very pleased with the care he receives. The lead teacher in the room is a trained Montessori teacher and is excellent, and the assistant teachers are very good also. The teacher:student ratio is 9:2 in the toddler rooms which I think is better than the 12:2 Ive seen at other facilities especially with active toddlers. Our son is happy to go to school in the morning and is happy when we pick him up at night. The school is very clean, the facilities are newly renovated and were set up from the beginning to be suitable for Montessori classrooms. They serve breakfast, a balanced snack in the morning and in the afternoon as well as milk at lunch (you provide your own lunch). I do wish the playground was bigger/shaded and that they had more room to explore outside but that is a minor issue.

This daycare is not one I would recommend. My Son has attended this place for only 1 month so far and hes had several incidents where the teachers and faculty have not fed him. There was one incident where my son asked the teacher for breakfast (which they provide from 7am-8am). The teacher responded to my 5 year old by saying he must eat at home and he proceeded the day without breakfast. He had already attended this place for 2 weeks until he finally mentioned to me that they have not been giving him breakfast. I was so upset at this fact that i went and spoke to someone there about it. After that incident another one occurred regarding food! His grandfather had dropped his lunch off later on in the day at the daycare for them to give to my son. A teacher there received it and my son was never given his lunch. This school does not care about the children needs. They will leave your child hungry and not attend to their needs and best interest. I had never had any of these problems in my previous locations. I cant believe that these teachers or whatever you may call them can just leave a child unfed. I would rather get billed for whatever he gets then my poor child be starving. The last incident that occurred was that my child cracked his skull at the playground. I received a phone call that the ambulance was there and what bothered me the most was the fact that who ever I spoke to asked me if I would like to come? Of coarse I wanted to go my son had to be rushed to the hospital. Where were the teachers that were supervising the kids? My son in his almost 6 years has never broken/ cracked/ fractured anything and hes been in daycare his whole life. It is not acceptable. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

The manager is very unprofessional and rude. Also, my friend brought to my attention the racial discrimination she received from the same manager here. I don’t recommend anyone to bring their children here for people deserve fair, adequate, and professional services. I previously wrote a review on this company and today, I decided to follow up just to see mines and other people’s honest reviews were removed. The truth must hurt.

If you are in the market for daycare or pre-K program in Gaithersburg, Top Hat Montessori is really a great option! My son has attended Top Hat since he was 6 months old. My wife and I have found that all three programs (infant, toddler and primary) are very well run. Each room offers a peaceful learning environment compared to some of the schools/daycare centers we visited before choosing Top Hat. The teachers truly care about children and they work with parents to ensure that progress is tracked on a daily basis. I feel that my son will be well prepared to start public school next September.Pricing is very fair relative to the quality care and education your child will receive. Theres also a discount for siblings...our daughter now attends as well!

The owner is prejudice and I know this from personal experience. Do not take your child there, especially if you are Black.
